this is d.w. news coming to you live from berlin venezuela expels germany's ambassador and the swelling government declares daniel clean up on the non grata for backing opposition leader one why don't spike the move germany says why do has its own wavering support also on the program. china's huawei takes the u.s. to court over a security law limiting the tech companies access to the american market for telecom equipment. and the german court is expected to deliver a ruling in the case of four men accused of operating

a child pornography platform in the dark net prostitution is demanding prison sentences of several young. fellow i'm terry martin good to have you with us but as with us government has declared germany's ambassador persona non grata and is demanding he leave the country the foreign ministry accuses daniel cleena of interfering in venezuela is internal affairs that's after he expressed support for opposition leader one why do germany is among the countries backing why doe's bid to oust president nicolas maduro. lonely freedom says this lawmaker thanking germany his words applauded by deputies in venezuela's opposition controlled national assembly. germany backs one quite venezuela's
8:02 am
legitimate leader. it seems that's one reason the government of his rival nicolas maduro has told the german ambassador to leave the country. this regime the disease power has no right to declare anyone persona non-grata this is simply a threat and that's how it should be same by the free world the german ambassador and his country have helped bring in humanitarian i. think it's aims to madeira regime want tolerate anyone who wants to help venice why law. already is with the german envoy was among a group of diplomats he met quite at the airport on his return to caracas on monday helping him evade arrest. so far daniel crean a is the only one of them to be expelled the government accusing him of meddling in internal affairs germany says
8:03 am
this kind of pressure won't work. dodging bullets they go head to the german government has decided to recognize quote god was interim president who should bring about free fair and democratic elections in venezuela this is a must do is completely income principle reaction will in no way change our opposition's kind of style of. quite as most important back steps up its campaign to topple madeira. united states will revoke seventy seven visas including many officials of the madeira regime and their families we will continue to hold them to during regime accountable until labor is restored in venezuela. matures expulsion of a western diplomat and the tightening of u.s. sanctions it's just the latest round in the battle between madeira and his
8:04 am
opponents. as venezuela's political crisis deepens. well for more now let's bring in our political correspondent husband hans german foreign minister who says it's in comprehensible that my duros regime would declare the german ambassador persona non grata but continue really believe that or be surprised that the that venezuela would would would want to boot out the german ambassador given germans germany support for one quite. yes indeed germany has over the past few weeks repeatedly criticized his governments very very severely and has repeatedly. supported quide or as the interim president and reiterated that report to that support yesterday again it's clear that the madhura government certainly is not recognized by the germans and indeed that should be north not be a surprise that the madeira government reacts in such
8:05 am
a way to germany on the other hand germany is now in a bit of a bind because if germany accepts the decision by the majority government to expel the german ambassador in some sense germany's accepting all the authority of them but there are a government to be able to do that whereas if you say that the real president in venezuela is one guide all then obviously this decree by the material government which would be invalid germany has reacted to that simply by some kind of. how shall i say finding five finding a way out by saying that it is the german government itself that is recalling its ambassador to berlin for consultations so in some sense not acknowledging the decree by the majority government but at the same time accepting it germany is not the only country supporting one is it clear why the venezuelan government under but during has singled out germany for four sanction. it's not
8:06 am
entirely clear the reasoning by them adore a government has been that the german ambassador has exceeded its his his competencies by book getting involved in internal politics in there was it went his way a lot but you can say that that is the case for at least a dozen other ambassadors for instance who were at the airport in karachi house on monday to welcome back door and to protect him from the rest at that time this is some sort of reaction to that situation at the airport where the moderate government was in some sense prevented from a race thing why do at the same time i think it can be said that the german ambassador was fairly prominent as a spokesperson for other ambassadors you gave interviews to the press he was involved in press statements and so on so in a sense he was a fairly activist ambassador and that's possibly one reason why you can see him go

thank you so much political correspondent. chinese tech giant huawei is suing the united states for limiting its access to the american market for telecom equipment always challenging u.s. law that labels the company a security risk and bars federal agencies from buying its telecoms products always legal challenge comes as trade negotiations between the u.s. and china are at a critical point for years while way has sought to reassure the world of two things off you if you know that it is not under the control of the chinese government and that it doesn't by consumers not a shift in tone from defense to accusation. the u.s. government has a long. way. it has helped our servers and this story are you merril's and a source told allegations of american government interference and theft of

corporate secrets while ways message to the united states we can play the blame game two hours before the announcement the backdrop to what's becoming an ever escalating dispute while waves chief financial officer among wang jew leaving her house in canada for an appearance in course she's been detained in the country since december accused of helping her company violates u.s. sanctions on iran she claims the arrest violated her rights and is politically motivated. while ways to sedition to sue the american government to a ready high cost conflict the u.s. effort to get allies to shun the firm threatens to bar the company from major markets and puts billions of dollars of investment in super high speed five g. networks out of risk it also adds tension to an already complicated trade
8:09 am
relationship between the world's top two economies. well for more now we're joined by kate ferguson from our business desk good morning kate the morning so quite way is striking back in the courts saying that it's being unfairly discriminated against in the united states so what do we make of all this is such a dramatic shift in tone so for the last few years huawei has taken a really defensive stance so they've endured accusations of being in cahoots with the chinese government of spying on customers stealing corporate secrets and now they're saying well do you know what you are doing the exact same thing but i think it's really interesting because that strategy of being defensive has been very deliberate because he knows what's at stake so at the moment it's already the second largest smartphone maker in the world and it's a leader in five g. technology that's the super high speed highly reactive internet of the future but
8:10 am
it knows that if it doesn't have the trust of the world it doesn't really have a future at its side of china so up to now it's enjoyed these accusations it's been quite patient and even despite lack of evidence it's taken quite quite a cautious tone now that has shifted dramatically they're fighting back they're saying you have no evidence you have absolutely no right to accuse us of things that you yourself are guilty of this comes as the u.s. and china are trying to negotiate their way out of a bitter trade dispute what does this legal move away mean for those negotiations way isn't officially part of the trade negotiations between the united states and china but it's definitely going to overshadow them because when a chinese company sues the american government a political issue and it's also going to be drawn out over a really long time because even though the chief financial officer who's who was arrested in canada she's only going to start those extradition proceedings in may
8:11 am
so that whole process is probably going to take several months and not have with. legal proceedings against the u.s. government it's just going to draw lives and it's going to overshadow any sort of relationship between the united states and china and it's also really significant because of this race to draw a white five chief technology and it's all a power game you know knows it's a leader in this technology a lot of countries want to get in on the game they need this this kind of know why and this is the point at which while his saying maybe you need us as much as we need to you kate thank you so much for your analysis kate ferguson from the w. business. you're watching d.w. news still to come natural beauty and a manmade conflict our correspondent visits the himalayan valley of kashmir once again the backdrop for the decades old animosity between india and pakistan.
8:12 am
the e.u. court is expected to rule later today on whether scientific studies on the disputed weed killer glyphosate must be made available to lawmakers members of the european parliament sued to see the studies after the european commission ruled that life is safe is safe to use up to now the commission has refused to release the studies life is safe is the key ingredient in a roundup probe widely used we kill or sold by german chemicals giant bio critics suspect life is say can cause cancer and that it harms the environment. well for more let's speak to spend gold he's a member of the european parliament from the green party and one of the supporters of the case being decided today by the u. court he joins us from brussels mr gold thanks for being with us so why is this ruling today so important. it is so important because. when it comes to health and safety concerns of food there should be full transparency
8:13 am
and this case is about getting access to the original data and the original studies which have been used by the european food and safety agency in order to approve guy feel safe and the whole point of sciences and that results can be read can be tried to be repeated by other researchers but this is only possible if the original studies and their main basic data is published and this is not the case this was we asked for the data it was refused and now we went to court to get it what do you think would change if the court decides to grant you access to those studies. well scientists all over the world could check the date and very fine weather the testing and the conclusion if it was correct or not and life estate is the most used pesticides in the world this is truly relevant but i have to say that this
8:14 am
case is more about the past than about the future because for new pesticides approvals all this has been changed in you law for the future that is why haven't access to the studies which have been used this was a fruit of the citizens initiatives which has been signed by more than one million europeans and we mate as the european parliament we made that law and this is why we wanted this access for the past but for the future for new pesticides all this is already ensured. the debate about life is cited safety continues to rage you're suing for to get access from the studies from corporations does it does do you not yourself or have already have proof that life is saved as carcinogenic to humans and degrading biodiversity. well the biodiversity effect is fully clear and we
8:15 am
need to reduce pesticides and we are fighting for an easy to agricultural policy which gives money to farmers who are more careful with the environmentalists with all that help and also responsible and social ways on the other hand we have a majority in the european parliament which want basically to continue with the status quo basis when it comes to biodiversity when it comes to health. well the global you said it in the beginning the united nation helpful he has come to another conclusion then the european agency and in order to verify who's right we need access to these studies. so in gold their member of the green party in the european parliament thank you so much for talking to us pleasure thank you we're here in germany verdict is expected in the case against four men accused of operating a dark net platform for child sexual abuse images called at least in the it was one
8:16 am
of the largest such websites worldwide with more than one hundred thousand user accounts the prosecution has called for prison sentences of up to nine years it took state prosecutors several months to gather the evidence the facts point toward a jail term for the four suspects for having offered child pornography on the lucy i'm at work. that's not the address of the material posted on a losy i'm showed every kind of abuse imaginable of children and teenagers. the victims included newborns and babies the platform was discovered in twenty seventeen and immediately shut down the case made international headlines due to the large number of subscribers investigators found one hundred twelve thousand user accounts pedophiles around the world were offered photos and videos of the worst kind of child abuse on a platform operated from germany the man are accused of setting up and operating
8:17 am
the child pornography platform on the dark net they can expect a prison sentence of multiple years. well with us here to talk about it is usually a fun viler she's a psychologist and director of the innocence in danger that's a network that fights the spreading of child pornography and the internet thank you for being with us this morning. what more can you tell us about the child abuse media platform that's at the center of this case being decided here in germany was one of the biggest so far known platforms and it was actually only discovered because the australian law enforcement put up a so-called honeypot they stumbled across the site and they kept it running in order to catch the people behind it and then pass on the information to germany because it's something that german law enforcement would not be allowed to do so it already tells how difficult it is to to really get into the darkness and into these
8:18 am
networks so if the australians stumbled upon it that's just this was a the clients of this network if you will were global absolutely and we don't even know how many clients there are there and what we do not know is how many times each person downloaded child sexual abuse imagery and then pass it on to other people so for survivors of these crimes the passing on the spread of the child abuse of images is really a terrible fact of life what can be done to prevent children and adolescents from becoming victims of pedophiles and and sexual abuse well if i knew the real answer to that question i would win the nobel prize i believe what we need to be aware of is that child sexual abuse happens around us every single day every single second and we need to be aware that we need to look for signs that children are distressed and then if we suspect something like child sexual abuse we need to ask for help and what we also learn from many international
8:19 am
studies is that child sexual abuse happens within the schools surroundings. also in these cases where it's about child sexual abuse networks so that means social work youth welfare we need to be aware of these dimensions and we need to tackle so it has many different dimensions of the network at the center of this case that's being decided here in germany in the core it operated in the so-called dark net how well equipped are authorities to to deal with that not really i mean they're trying their very best all law enforcement offices all over the world are really digging deep into that but they're that it's just such a vast dimension and laws are different in different countries so i think we need to tackle the problem different aspects one is strengthen law enforcement and their equipment and manpower and the other is find ways to technically remove. child
8:20 am
sexual abuse imagery something that actually the canadian center for child protection has started to do they developed a weapon called iraq and it's and across the net and searches for police known child sexual abuse imagery and they removed more than one million images with within the past two years what would you like to see come out of this trial in germany i would like for us to be more aware i would like to strengthen law enforcement i would like to strengthen a corporation with the canadian center for child protection and i would like for everyone out there in this in this social system to be aware that we need to ask these questions and see if images have been produced and spread thank you very much for talking with us this morning uniformed bhalo director of the ngo innocence in danger pleasure. now let's take a look at some of the other stories making headlines a u.s. senator says she was raped by a superior while serving in the military. told
