is up this time compared to five years ago we've seen a lot of people of all different ages even very sick people struggling their way up two flights of stairs to cast their vote interesting and when you ask people that they think that their vote will really count that will be fairly counted here if people are very confident of that there are lots of observers around international but also ukrainian of service so people really you know seemingly convinced that the democratic process is working and they can change something with their vote and why are so many ukrainians of polls are to be believed ready to vote for a comedian. i think that's a sign of desperation and there's a weariness with the political class that's been in charge of this country for the past two decades both president bush and co and ex prime minister yulia timoshenko the two of the top front runners have been in politics for decades those decades in which ukraine really has failed to live up to its potential back in the ninety's ukraine and poland were of similar average incomes and now you have millions of

ukraine's working in poland because the difference in pay is so big so this is jennifer astray ssion that progress has been cost in clamping down on corruption growing the economy these things you hear tom tom against people seemingly willing to take that jump and to go for someone who has no political experience but promises a new style of more open politics apart from those problems though which you just mentioned ukraine is that war is the conflict in east weighing on president proportional. strange enough the war is president president people's minds definitely but it's strange isn't really part of the election campaign in terms of different proposals for solving that conflict no one really is willing yet to suggest maybe some kind of compromise towards the russian position and ending the conflict that way present poroshenko on the other hand has released cost himself in this election as the defender of ukraine's interest as someone who stands up to russia so even though he hasn't been able to end that conflict strange enough that

confrontation with russia is actually more in his interest than anyone else's just a quick last question if i may be russia has a history of meddling in ukrainian politics going back to recent memory the orange revolution. is there any evidence of that this time around. so far international monitors haven't spoken of any direct manipulations in terms of individual electoral counts that will see happen tonight we have heard from various candidates that they're not happy with the way things are going and they've called the police to investigate various facts of problems technical problems at polling stations but so far we have no indication on a practical level on the ballot level that there is that kind of involvement yet ok of usenet connelly and jeff thank you for that. turning now to mozambique where aid agencies are stepping up their efforts to help these sick and hungry in the
