noise minus weta mile high tell us a little bit more about what happened so there's a photo that went viral of this incredible line stretching to the summit of everest it was taken by a nepalese climber named near moll poor john mark karr we have a photo of both his twitter account which is where this photo was originally posted if we can bring that up now this photo really was quite shocking because it's an absolutely gorgeous photo but you see this incredible line and what i have ended up happening was teams of climbers had to line up for hours to get to the summit and when you're standing in that in that. cold in that lack of oxygen for hours you're risking frostbite you're risking altitude sickness those are 2 of the biggest killers on everest there was a tour going to that told the a.f.p. that one person who was stuck in this traffic was stuck there for 12 hours and dying because he was stuck there and here's the thing about everest in

a permit to climb the mountain you can't just show up and go up the mountain the lebanese government has issued over 400 permits to climbers from all over the world so far this according to the b.b.c. and the number of people somebody everest is on track to break last year's record of 807 people but the everest climbing season is a relatively short season and it's only 2 months out of the year april and may when it's relatively safe to go up the mountain this year that winter has been even shorter because of inclement weather and suddenly there was a burst of good weather all these people there they all rushed up the mountain together resulting in this huge crowding and people lost their lives unfortunately having some trouble getting that picture up but i have seen it and it's incredible i think we can show it. now for viewing but maya tell us while we're trying to get that up there any possible solutions to this problem well there have been this is the twitter of this climber took this picture and this in fact is the photo it's just incredible to see that huge line up to everest now one of the solutions usman
6:07 pm
prefer that's a been put forward is to limit the number of permits that are given out to climbers each year but the problem with this is nepal is not a wealthy country one quarter of its population lives under the poverty line this is a blog a facebook page called everest today which was also tracking these developments here's a video of exactly what was happening up there taken by someone else so there's just a huge number of people trying to climb everest also not only huge number of people causing overcrowding but they're leaving trash behind this is caused huge environmental damage so in the interest of trying to save people and. protect the environment on everest there have now been these calls to limit the number of permits but these permits cost upwards of $10000.00 euros per permit nepal is not a wealthy country as we said so what do you do make some money from the. mindset of thanks for shedding some light on that story for us. united nations maritime court

with numerous movies behind for the award competitions being tossed this year with few so it's out of the $21.00 selected for the canned main competition. with critics one person who was at the festival scott ross for he joins me now to discuss it all tell us how strong was the festival this owes amazing i mean the weather was lousy which is something good oh i don't think i've a right to complain about it when i was spent 10 days watching movies and drinking those yet in the cinema it was great you know it's one of the best years of going there for a number of years it was one of the best cannes i've seen in a long long time and we had a mix of everything we had a sort of old masters and a new faces. film new film what's going to hollywood is they are big big stars of course they are the caprio brad pitt a film about hollywood in the 1960 sort of set against the backdrop of the of the manson family murders in the united states guy when everything changed in hollywood and america that was a phenomenal film but we have also the exact opposite side of cinema as well one of

my favorites was into your old british social realist filmmaker he had a mazing a look at broken britain a look at sort of the gig economy told a story told of the working class man who's basically broken down by the way the global economy works for for the poor and british to phenomenal films but there was just such a range as to say it's one of the best hands i've seen in years and really one of the most competitive for me there could be. i know 4 or 5 films that could wind up on gore tonight while stiff competition so what was your favorite and do you think that is there from on i can you could use that one i don't think there's any further and i think that would be would be foolish of be to pick one and that in that category when it comes my personal favorite i like a lot of movies this year personally though the korean movie parasite john hall was my favorite this is sort of a hitchcockian thriller it's about a young poor man who's sort of a con artist because his way into
