for your education you have to take it yet speak english get to know the presidents you know yeah it's hard but that's a legal way to do it when they just do it legal this way it cost the taxpayer money more i mean me every american has to pay more for someone who wants to come in for free and get free everything i mean i never get nothing for. the members of the militia seem to have a confused idea of all what's fair and right. if you. get what you want. in the end the us border patrol takes over the migrants will now be taken to register. another alarm apparently there's a human traffic close by a u.s. border patrol helicopter tries to find him from the air. with help from the militia
5:01 pm
members on the ground. despite all the official denials the border patrol in the militia working hand in hand. well it took quite a few of us to actually get the group contained we didn't touch anybody as you saw it was all verbal commands but we were able to before the border patrol actually got here we were able to you know get everything handled through a team effort human rights activists such as from london got to see queues the militias of imagining dangers that do not exist in actual fact and still being fear . what is the national security crisis i mean people it's just children mothers. grandmothers they are just torn in themselves to border patrol because they're looking for help so in that context why do we need. any and.
5:02 pm
what do we need a militia why do we i mean they are not mean it i mean they just making things more complicated. but for jim ben be the fact that 100000 people arrived in the u.s. without papers in april alone is a problem he is outraged he talks about this on facebook life and has thousands of followers listening to him. but again for those of you that are new to my videos. basically what's happening here guys is a not very violent invasion of the united states. people are coming through our border they know that all they have to do is claim asylum. a day like any other on the border near sunland park in new mexico jim ben be on the guardian patriot say that they will continue patrolling the border until the wall is finished i don't think we got the guy in the way. is it coyote.

all right returning now to our top story the leader of germany's social democrats is stepping down off just 14 months in the job and today analysis she also plans to give up a seat in the german parliament now her announcement comes as her posse is agonizing over its future following a double election defeat nonis was under pressure to german voters handed the social democrats their worst ever result in last month's european elections the s.p.d. also lost a regional election in the states of braman for the 1st time in more than 70 years . now has had this to say about how to discussions in the parliamentary group and feedback from the policy have shown that i no longer have the necessary support to carry out my juices on monday i will therefore resign as chair of the s.p.d.
5:04 pm
i don't choose day i will resign as chair of the s.p.d. parliamentary group and the s.p.d. is the junior partner in germany's governing coalition with the conservative c.d.u. and the cd use leader unexplained come on by i made a statement a short while ago let's take a listen now to what she had to say. gentleman the com hi i'd like to extend to one welcome to all of you i have come to speak about the resignation of. the party leader of the social democrats. and formed me this morning about her plan to resign as social democrat party leader and parliamentary group leader try it to me i have a great deal of respect for the decision she has made i would like to express my gratitude under a analysis for our good cooperation so far i've always experienced during the coalition negotiations and as party leader of the social democrats as
5:05 pm
a person with a strong character and an honest and reliable partner. i am working on the assumption that the social democrats will quickly make personnel related decisions and ensure that the grand coalition remains. capable of acting for the c.d.u. it remains clear that this is not the time for party tactics we remain committed to the grand coalition with good policy we aim to serve our country if you do you will contribute to the reliability and capacity of germany to act the grand coalition for us is not a means in itself the coalition agreement forms the basis for setting the political course of germany and representing german and trusts in europe and in the world is to do you will continue contribution to working towards
5:06 pm
a strong functioning government in germany thank you. that was an update come come out ahead of the c.d.u. speaking just for some analysis on joined by political correspondent kate brady kate thanks for being here now there was an update come. appealing to the social democrats not to endanger the governing coalition is it in danger of failing it could well be i mean for many months there are basically since the get go in march 2018 this coalition has never being exactly the image of stability and of course and a great cramp carabao made it very clear clear that that the c.d.u. the conservative party here in germany want to push on with this grand coalition of course there's a very reason why as well i mean you only have to take a look at the opinion polls right now here in germany to see that neither the conservatives nor the social democrats are doing particularly well and we saw that
5:07 pm
play out in the european elections as well both suffered huge losses and there are even some polls out this week that position the c.d.u. the conservatives and the social democrats behind the green party so if germany was set to vote today it does seem at least that the majority or the strongest party at least would be the green party so this is also about keeping the conservatives in track best interests at heart as well when we think about to what. the what the leader there of the of the conservative party and a great crump karrenbauer was saying but it will be interesting to see how this develops now and to see whether the s.p.d. really can hold it together we are going to be hearing from chancellor angela merkel she's due to speak shortly what do we what do you expect to hear from her and what does this whole situation situation mean for her government. we will certainly be hearing something along the similar similar lines to the c.d.u.
5:08 pm
party leader just now and of course this could at least have huge repercussions. for the grand coalition of course it's also worth bearing in mind that marco herself made the decision earlier this year to stand down as conservative party leader and hand those reins over to the great crime picower so right now you don't really have to particularly strong parties in the coalition anyway it's not necessarily just about the social democrats the conservatives. who are having their own issues the leader a k k a she's known here in germany has being has come under fire quite a few occasions in recent weeks for some of her decisions and how the conservatives just like the social democrats went into the european elections and failed on both sides to address that very important issue in these elections which of course was climate protection so we have to wait and see just about half an hour now to see
5:09 pm
exactly what marco plans to say this afternoon but from what we can gather so far the c.d.u. and her conservatives at least very keen to continue on with this so-called grand coalition all right kate brady we're going to be speaking to you again a little later but we're going to take a look now at the korea of under way analysis who has her now announced her resignation as leader of the social democrats. fund to be in the list 1st joined the democratic party more than 20 years ago as the leader of the party's youth organization she studied german and political science in one of her very 1st interviews she told g.w. that a career in politics was not in the cards. shopping it for you but i don't want to stay in politics for the rest of my life so after being chair i want to look for a real job and for that i need a good degree. but after finishing university 4 years later now is rose in the
5:10 pm
ranks of the s.p.d. 1st as a parliamentarian then labor minister and ultimately party leader germany's minimum wage law 1st introduced in 2015 was one of her key achievements now as has a reputation for being outspoken after her rousing speech at an s.p.d. convention party members agree to change course and form a coalition with angela merkel's conservatives rather than enter the opposition. hands on i know we're going to negotiate and get some more good results that's why voting yes today is worth it. now as was the party's 1st female leader since it was founded more than 150 years ago she was tasked with steering the s.p.d. back to its left wing roots but many are now asking if the decision to again partner with the center right c.d.u. was indeed worth it. all right for more in this country and by kate brady our political correspondent kate going back to the question of nala successor and names
5:11 pm
of being circulated already and i believe we're going to listen now to what one potential successor said often made her announcement. i think this iteration is very very serious at the moment to say otherwise would be wrong we are aware of this and therefore it is important for me to again to state clearly that we are not going to make any rash decisions rather we will consult with one another and think carefully about our next steps it is important to send the signal that this party is not without leadership as does apartheid and who influences all right now we've got cape radio political correspondent joining me here in the studio and we're also joined by my a shway to who i believe is standing by at the social democrat party headquarters no in fact it is my colleague william no clue croft williams was a pleasure to see can you tell us what's going on at the s.p.d. headquarters william do we have william oh no now we have my colleague
5:12 pm
my can you tell us what's going on there at the s.p.d. policy had horses. you know well as you can see behind me we have a lot of our colleagues from various german media outlets who we've all been here for several hours just waiting for some statement to be made by someone at some point about what exactly is going to happen next not only who the next person is going to be a lie and when alice was stepping down and further clarification on that but just simply what does the future look like for the s.p.d. for the grand coalition for medical and her party and just all ever anything that we can get moving forward so still a lot of questions to be answered here we've got the microphone set up coming to you with as many answers as we can possibly get whenever that happens but for now we're all just standing here waiting it's been a pretty calm afternoon despite the excitement in the air like a so policy crisis and you're saying it feels calm the now the c.d.u. has already come out with with 2 statements what what do you what do we think the
5:13 pm
s.p.d. could be could be announcing. well we're all simply hoping that the s.p.d. is going to very quickly come out and announce who the next party leader is going to be of course if not 1st ability then simply for the continuation of the party it's a big question mark right now as to what exactly can happen to the s.p.d. we've seen them fall so far so fast in the past couple of elections as i believe kate was pointing out earlier there's just a lot at stake for the party for their supporters for their part in the grand coalition for their part in the german government and where they possibly could go from here so what will be looking for in any statement that eventually might happen is some clear names some clear direction and just some clear guidance as to what could potentially happen next now as we've been saying the s.p.d. has been shedding votes and a few lost a lot of votes to the greens what does that mean for the s.p.d. of the greens essentially moving in and taking on taking over the position of the
5:14 pm
s.p.d. . well if you are an s.t.d. supporter then yes you should definitely be concerned by the rising tide of the greens that has been shown both in the european elections and also as someone in the last german elections so if there are in fact snap elections called which may be on the table that is a part of that stance of benefit a lot from disgruntled possibly former as you voters and if you're an s.p.d. politician you want to keep your party relevant better pole americal one start adopting some other green party policies that will appeal to the further left wing of your party that wants to see more green type policies be adopted on to the party platform so again a big question here today is where the party can go from here to maintain their relevance their stability and their part in the german government all right maya thanks so much i'm just going to turn to kate here in the studio and then nonis has been criticized quite heavily by those on the left of the s.p.d.
5:15 pm
will her policy now be forced to change course dramatically well already the plan at least after the federal elections and 2017 the plan was to change the course of the s.p.d. and move themselves away from the center ground of course as my just reflected on there about merkel pulling merkel is basically what she has done for a long time now in these coalitions with the social democrats and the social democrats have suffered because malcolm for so long conservatives drew on a lot of the social democrats main policies and managed to reshape them for themselves and they were often seen as a success for the conservatives and with merkel at the helm of the government of course it was hats off to merkel but often they were originally s.p.d. . bills and proposals that were going through michael has been really strongly in favor of holding on to this coalition why is she cleaning up.
