not to stay in the grand coalition could we see snap elections and that certainly is still a possibility as things stand the 1st step would be possibly started against more coalition talks which seem very unlikely of course after the general the federal election back in 2017 that took 6 months to form a coalition they merkel's conservatives came very close to forming a so-called jamaica coalition with the federal democrats and also with the green party that's called the jamaica coalition because of the collapse of the party. and that fell through so that could still be an option but at the moment there is because of how the majorities and minorities within the palm and distributed all that many options available and of course if germans were to head to the polls again that would be very dangerous for the conservatives and also for the social democrats as a doing so badly in the polls right now but there was some polls came out this week
8:16 pm
and that's of the greens we're no possibly leading in germany i mean could could that if there was an election do you think that the greens would likely get the biggest number of seats they could certainly come out as one of the strongest parties of course in germany it's that we tend to have a coalition government here so it would be very likely that the 2 strongest parties would then be the greens and the conservatives so we could see a so-called black green coalition but there's also demands as well for a so-called red red green coalition which would see dealing because it's the lead germany's left party the social democrats and the greens all teaming up so that's a long way down the line and for now at least it seems that yet another german government crisis has been averted but usually as we've seen in the last few months that doesn't last very long and where we'll see will definitely be keeping an eye on this story kate brady thanks very much that analysis. turning to some of the other stories making news around the world china has issued a rare statement concerning the 989 tenement square crackdown on student protesters

a busy canal in the center of the city there's been a long running debate over whether to allow cruise ships in venice as famed but increasingly overcrowded waterways. the huge cruise ship led its own but it was too late for the much smaller tourist vessel to get out of the way the 13 deck opera with some 2 and a half 1000 passengers on board hit the river countess. and then pushed past it crashing into the dock. there are probably at least as i heard this deafening noise coming closer it was the sound of the horn we were lucky because it could have been much worse i thought the ship would reach my house for the rest of it because everybody carried out that the ambulance got here after 25 or 30 minutes but didn't do anything they stopped to watch what was happening a bit like everyone else did. medical authorities say 4 people were injured.
8:19 pm
soon after the collision protesters gathered to renew their call to ban large cruise ships from the port of venice the safety of big ships in the busy waters of european cities has become an urgent issue after last week's danube river accident when a collision between a cruise liner and a tourist boat left 7 people dead and 21 missing. media in canada are reporting that a probe into the disappearances of indigenous girls and women has found they're facing a quote canadian genocide the 3 year inquiry is about to release its findings for many indigenous families it's been a long wait. it's been more than a decade since an indigenous canadian teenager went missing here in portage prairie in the province of manitoba she is one of thousands of missing 1st nations people.

bus right there with them of course coach klopp the mastermind of their trials leading his team to glory after losing 2 straight european finals. and to talk about the liverpool champions league success i'm joined in the studio by ed make mccambridge suffering. from v.w. sports now it's liveable coach lost his previous 3 european finals is that right so he must be pretty thrilled about this victory well that's right he lost his 1st as bruce your daughter coach some years ago but since taking over as livable coach in 2015 he's also managed to lose a europa league final 2 seasons ago as well as last season's champions league final so he's understandably incredibly happy to finally get his hands on was probably the biggest and best club competition in world football now let's the have a listen to what the man of the moment had to say about that i don't want to explain why we want to go only want to enjoy that we want all the rest is not important it's for all the people around the world in the stadium. they are now

celebrating like crazy and. tomorrow in liverpool moves on the road together we will have a sensational. pretty important win for club absolutely huge so we were just saying a moment ago that he'd lost these 3 european cup finals in a row but when you factor in domestic cup competitions as well it was actually on a losing streak in cup finals of 6 straight finals in a row so even though he's won some titles in the past he wants to punish they get solved in the german cup for example he was developing an unusual habit of fooling at the final hurdle in recent years in club competition so this will undoubtedly lay those demons the rest and of course thrust him into the pantheon of great coaches along the likes of joe fagan and bob paisley and more recently rafa benitez and if you could only get his hands on the league title something which is of a good liverpool since 1990 and some of the fans crave so much he will undoubtedly achieve immortal status among liverpool fans and only one winner of course is possible there of course losers and must be the tough one for the tottenham fans
8:25 pm
how what does the defeat mean for them or it's also a huge defeat the totem is as great as it was for liverpool is just to set the tone because there's an element of expectation by liverpool they think they're going to you know do well in europe most years but with tottenham it's not really the same this really did feel like a one off shot at glory and possibly a mixture of injuries and also getting a little bit spooked in the limelight as cost them dearly and after the game the press or press their coach maruti approach chinos trying find out if you'd be staying with the club in years to come and he wouldn't confirm whether or not he was going to so perhaps we'll look back one day about spurs fans look back one day i wonder what if only had they won this title what could have happened what if there was a lot of chatter about the standard of play of the game can you tell us a bit more about that what it was about when it was pretty rubbish it was a rubbish game everyone was really excited going into this final to really fast attacking exciting teams and 2 coaches which really love this philosophy of a type of a you know exciting attacking football but a very early penalty
8:26 pm
a little poor word penalty. after only 22 seconds so it killed the game a little bit and a lot of people expected loads of goals and high drama and you know the before and the previous they both clubs came through very dramatic semifinals and then it was actually quite a drab final sadly enough and all that is sad. thanks so much for coming in thank you. shock result in boxing so britain's abyssinia joshua lose his i.v. if w b o w b a world heavyweight titles 2 unfancied mexican fights and the rule is junior on saturday night in a remarkable fight at new york's madison square garden roux is juno floored joshua 4 times on route to a 7th round technical knockout he's now the 1st mexican world heavyweight champ him . and in cycling news richard catto has become the 1st ecuadorian to win the road to talia after coming through the final stage unscathed in verona despite finishing
