she must pick up others who are inclined to agree i think. it's unfair and i think that definitely the protest more born in hong kong raised in hong kong i think the bill should have never gone through anyway. and for. take this amount of time and not step down through. a day of protesting police brutality things that just is the worst i've ever seen in hong kong statements like these along with the peaceful protests on friday against police violence show a steely resolve to resist the government. or many of the protesters who took to the streets of hong kong our students our correspondent mathias but i am met some of the young people who are juggling their classwork with demonstrating to

shape the future of their city. school's out for 17 year old zach today it's the final exams we can hong kong and zach is completing grade 11 but his mind is not with the exams these days. today i get my chinese language test and i think i did quite ok. but for the other topics that require more preparation things aren't looking that great this year but i'm setting aside my future for the future of hong kong. zack is an organizer for a group of middle school students in hong kong's protest movement they are planning to meet this afternoon but suddenly he gets a call from a friend who thinks he's followed by the police pay sites what you let me call you later. i have to.
10:05 pm
decide to hold the meeting but want to have that friend join in. the government's announcement to delay the bill is a 1st victory for them but they're not satisfied the government has left the option open to bring it back at a later time so this sunday protests will take place as planned. there will be some more here. along the route here around you where you fan you act. the friends have known each other via social media platforms they remind many of the umbrella movement that blocked hong kong for weeks in 2014 but failed to achieve its goal the extradition bill has revived hong kong's opposition a new generation is taking to the streets they have no organizations and no leadership they coordinate in chat groups. for my guys and i
10:06 pm
think just the opposite. when the umbrella movement happened i was only in 7th grade but i've been paying attention to hong kong politics at the same so now there is this anti extradition bill news meant that it's time to get out from behind the computer and fight the idea of the new book ha i like. zach and his friends vaal to continue until the extradition plans are ultimately scrapped. not as a cathedral has held its 1st mass since the fire in april which devastated the paris landmark for safety reasons only a few priests and restoration workers were allowed in others were able to watch the service on television. so this mass the clergy had hard hats to go with their white robes a clear sign of how fragile this cathedral still is 2 months after a fire that nearly destroyed it the mass took place in the relative safety of

a chapel behind the high altar the main body of the cathedral with its damaged vaults could still collapse. but house of the burnt rubble some reasons to be thankful. for the today we're deeply happy to celebrate the eucharist which is why the cathedral was built there is also a message of hope and thanks to all those who were touched by what has happened to this cathedral a symbol of france and of our christian roots. outside not trigger people captured images of the famous landmark on their phones 2 months earlier they've been filming scenes of horror like this the fire gutted the cathedral's gothic roof and toppled expire. those watching back then could have been forgiven for thinking
10:08 pm
a day like today would never come. and with the bat it is a new beginning this reconstruction is a new future for the cathedral and the starting point of the sunday life of the church and this mass this 1st mass works continuing every day to stabilize the massive structure president emanuel macro wants to rebuild not return in just 5 years something that safely ambitious pretty day if nothing else it showed where there's a will there's a way. well many years of restoration and repair still lie ahead and you might think it's all being paid for by the flood of donations that were promised by billionaires and companies after the blaze but it turns out the church is still waiting for much of that money down the reporter jerry reed if they're following up on those donations hello to you so 1st off just remind us how much money exactly was pledged after the fire well when the fire happened
10:09 pm
a lot of determined philanthropists popped up and started throwing a cw2cw4cw in pledges and very quickly around a 1000000000 euros was was pledged and this attracted a lot of attention of course they got a lot of publicity for this but also a lot of criticism because it did look like a lot of rich people sort of one off in each other with these pledges and as you said to be earlier the fire happened 2 months ago so you would think that's enough time to write a check or to press send on the internet banking seems like they need a little bit more time because apparently none of these rich joiners have paid off yes i can hear we can see a statement from what sounds to be a quite annoyed spokesman from the not true dumb. told the a.p. the big donors haven't paid more to since they want to know what exactly their
10:10 pm
money's being spent on and if they agreed to it before they handed over and not to just pay employees salaries so it seems like there are many many strings attached to this money the french government has said that all the donations that have been pledged so not just from the rich people but from everyone only 10 percent of actually come through now so a lot are outstanding the employees that this person is referring to the $150.00 employees at the cathedral has employed since since the fire and you know they need to be paid. absolutely so 100 people are working so who's picking up the check to pay them at the moment so they're being paid by the donations from much more humble sources their american tourists and french citizens who have been doing one thing to nonprofit organizations involved with the restoration and the cleanup and this month they've paid almost $4000000.00 euros to fund the 1st part of the restoration
10:11 pm
we need to keep in mind too time is of the essence yeah off to the fire we learn from the story in over the centuries but not true don has been neglected and needed lots of restoration anyway and the french president has said he wants all these within 5 years so you know he does that plus when the fire happened $300.00 tons of lead to dust was you know late into the atmosphere so there is a real urgent need to clean up the side of the not true so that each site all the work has to stop rebuilding well what about these rich donors how have they responded to the criticism that they haven't managed to pay up yet how do they explain that some of them of come out and said yes it's true we haven't paid yet and that's because we want to see what the restoration plans like with awe they fit in with what they think they should be what people sort of think is that some of the dharnas want then names and money associated with the end product and may be
10:12 pm
interested in the sort of boring and usual stage of cleaning up the side of making a site so we have to see how this pans out in the next couple of months and yeah they don't seem quite a selfless as they may have pretended to be in good company is that jared reed to thank you so very much. now to some of the other stories making news around the world saudi arabia and the united arab emirates have called for quote decisive action to protect oil supply its energy ministers from the group of 20 major economies have been meeting in japan the call comes after 2 tankers were attacked in the gulf of oman thursday driving oil prices higher. so sancia toba has been sworn in escrow voc is 1st female president a 45 year old lawyer has never before held state office she entered politics as an environmentalist fighting against a toxic landfill in her hometown. while the women's world cup continues in france

and joining me to discuss all the latest action of time get i from new delhi is 4th hello to you tom so the netherlands b. cameroon in the 1st match today what did you make of their performance i'd say it was it's a home in performance very resilient is also i suppose how we're really appraise it now they went into this game of course as favorites and they messed up an opponent because cameroon really put up a fight that's what's upon there was even quite a few games so far this world cup germany's opener of course they had a fairly tough time gets charged and there's been some subsequent fixtures as well wait you know to see not kind of power and repeating itself but of course it's the final school that matches the dutch got what they want they've booked a place in the last 60 days how to do that. i the usual city of orange was there to greet the dutch side and they gave their found something to cheer on 41 minutes when to be on a medium like of the open with the police head was put the lead did not last long
10:14 pm
with cameron levelling through gabrial on get a with them delivered a message home via her t. shirts it was cameroon's 1st goal in 251 world cup minutes was in the 2nd half belonged to the netherlands though and they reached the elite quickly after the restart dominique bloodworth above cameroon is defending left a lot to be desired. the gift meant the defender had the easiest of finishes thanks i. needed that then became the neverland's recalled score with her 60th goal if she still only 22 was going to go through i know looking dangerous way. ok so it was another win for the netherlands a really big day for the venue to mom how did she manage to pack up so many goals she's so young she's only 22 years old it's quite remarkable yeah it is incredible
10:15 pm
i mean she's she made her debut when she was 17 so she has been doing this already for 5 years but of course even in that time 60 goals international level is an incredible statistic i'm you know with $22.00 she's obviously go a long time left to com so it's going to be a very difficult record to break for whichever poor striker is left with the toss doing that once she's gone all right tom can i find it at least for thank you so very much indeed thank you. you're watching w. news i'm married and steam from all of us in berlin thanks for watching. him a. leg up since.
