this is d.w. business i'm in in berlin welcome for the markets in europe it's the morning after a closely watched see interest rate announcement the federal reserve has decided to leave it as it is but expectations are growing that that's set to change. fed chairman jerome powell signaled the case was building to cut interest rates by as much as half a percentage point he suggested the fed could ease monetary policy as early as next month as it took stock of growing concerns about weak inflation and rising trade tensions the question is whether these uncertainties will continue to weigh on the outlook and those call for additional monetary policy accommodation. many efforts participants now see that the case for somewhat more accommodative policy has strengthened although economic growth is expected to continue powell said policymakers concerns about president donald trump's trade dispute with china and other countries have increased since the fed met earlier in may the dollar already

under pressure fell further after trump said he intends to replace powell and demote him to a board governor but that threat hasn't cowed powell. i think the law is clear that i have a 4 year term and i i fully intend to serve it to the united states the us president has repeatedly accused the fed under powell of undermining his administration's efforts to boost economic growth and has repeatedly demanded that right speak out. earlier today i spoke to james hughes chief market analyst at trader and i asked him about the political pressure the fed has been under and if the ongoing trade conflicts are forcing the feds had. well what we would always say is of course the federal reserve and jay powell said this himself is a an independent body and doesn't listen to what the government say but when you look at the situation this is perfect news that don't trump over the last couple of

days donald trump has launched his reelection campaign now within the same week he then gets the federal reserve start to say to the electorate start to say to the voters look boring costs are now expected to go down in the next few next few months so for donald trump this is a fantastic p.r. story number one it says that it takes the shying away from the the u.s. and china trade talks and the on going conflict there in the issues that that's having because domestically in the u.s. it says all this is doing is meaning that things are going to get better for the for the voter because borrowing costs are going down now the fed are supposed to be independent and they will of course tell you that they're independent and the underlying issue is that there are worrying times for the global economy because we just don't know what the outcome between the u.s. and china trade talks is going to be and it's more that uncertainty which causes worries and a slowdown in the economy in china and then an overall slowdown overall so the fed would argue that the fed need to cut rates just in order to keep the economy

the lender even more in trouble because it is related to the u.s. president we have to remember that donald trump has been creating of all his financial situation quite a mystery during his campaign but also during the last year which made people wonder if he could be possibly involved in question of the transaction so if this really turns out should be true that by 2016 a former employee of torture alerted the management of all transactions off trump's son in law or jarrett cushion a true individuals in russia without any consequences that those transactions were made this could put the bank in a very bad light the lender by the way they did not want to comment about further about the allegations they only said today that they're fully cooperating with the authorities in the united states and how have investors react to do they still react to these kinds of headlines from deutsche bank. well in general traders or
