biden and bernie sanders debating tonight's on in wednesday's battle lisbeth warren cemented her status as a front runner using universal health care and economic reform to score points in a heated debate. although they all share a single aim of ousting president of the 2020 u.s. election few are putting money on $1.00 standout contender xander phenomenon was in miami for the official start of the democrats' race for the white house. to watch party in a bar in downtown miami organized by a network of women of color in florida many here told me they were interested and that's when she went to complain but still needed to learn more about that candidate i expect to hear what their policies will be like to hear what how they're going to take us to the future and i hope to see women standing up and you

know talking about women's protective rights civil rights immigration and i need to learn more about the more centrist and right wing. candidates because i'm a progressive they may root for different candidates but there is one thing. the these groups. who bought at the democratic party here in miami say the year ending for a candidate who can be done all trumps but many voters in view as have yet to fully to a need so the stakes are high for the 1st debates which have the potential to shake out the democratic presidential field the most diverse field ever many contenders have been struggling to garner attention and raise money now they have a chance to take their message directly to a national prime time audience. and that was what they tried to do in the m.e. is senator elizabeth warren was the only candidate on the 1st night to be pulling

in double digits and set the tone for the party's progressive we where i want to start this is i want to return government to the people and that means calling out the names to the monopolist and saying i have the time. arranged to go after him time other contenders remain all cautious suggesting some plans might go too far immigration policy was also one of the main topics would cool young cost would dominate and here the former mayor of san antonio proposed decriminalizing undocumented immigration and the audience in this bar seems to like. for what i can see here we aren't conscious you're always seems to be really impassioned about his life and his whole feeling about the immigration issue yeah yeah. the 1st debate is over on thursday the leading candidates will take the stage in miami. iran says today is the day that

its uranium enrichment levels could exceed the cap set by the 2015 nuclear accord it would be the 1st breach of the deal which is aimed at restricting tehran's nuclear ambitions in exchange for an easing of international sanctions it comes after the u.s. abandon the deal last year and impose new sanctions now iran says it sees no reason to comply unless britain france and germany stuff into hell. a deal isn't a deal if only one side has to honor it that was the iranian ambassador his message to the un the 2050 nuclear deal also known as a j c p o a is all burden and no benefit. in practical terms it has become an agreement which is being respected only by one party it on has done a lot and much more than its fair share to preserve the nuclear the it on a lawn chair not shall not do not take on all of the burdens any more to

preserve it is if you really. but the grievance also came with an ultimatum to the european signatories stand up to us aggression or along with us accept your food responsibility for any possible consequences one potential consequence an iran with weapons grade enrich uranium with tehran recently quadrupling its production of low enriched uranium european leaders worry that that's a possibility iran's ultimatum comes amid rising tensions between tehran and the white house the u.s. accused iran of attacking 2 oil tankers which iran denies and downing a u.s. drone which iran says had invaded its airspace. u.s. president donald trump threatened to obliterate iran while claiming his ultimate goal is to renegotiate a nuclear deal tehran's response that door has closed. well

for more on this story i'm joined now by our iran correspondent teresa tropper teresa good to have you in the studio one year after the u.s. pulled out of the iran nuclear deal to iran is now bumping up its uranium stockpile what message is tehran sending with this move well as you've said it's been years and pulled out of the nuclear agreement and so firearm has complied with it even though it didn't get any benefits from that and the economic sanctions that were imposed in the past year have really. had dramatic effect on the country's economy and also in the people's lives there is so that's why officials in tehran and now calling it economic warfare and since the other countries that signed the deal so the europeans china russia when not able to provide relief so if iran is now ramping up the pressure and trying to tell them ok now you need to act now and
9:08 am
that's why this stepping across the lines of the nuclear deal now redlines one at a time or stuffing across this particular line with enriched uranium in a way that is getting a lot of attention and we know assume that iran is working as fast as it can to get nuclear weapons well that's the big question here of course what's sure to say is that they're getting closer to having a nuclear weapon by doing so because with enriching uranium up to 20 percent and also by keeping larger quantities of it inside the country they're getting close to being able to build a nuclear weapon but with that uranium enriched a trendy percent they can have like a reset reactor for example but for weapons they need to enrich it up to 90 percent and that's of course still a long way to go and iran says they don't even want to go there they foreign minister zarif for example just reiterated that iran will never pursue
9:09 am
a nuclear weapon because it's against the country's religious belief that. even a fatwa against nuclear weapons in iran but of course not all the countries in the region one true rely on that and the u.s. especially doesn't trust those assurances in the u.s. of course under president drone trump has pulled out of the iran nuclear deal now what is the u.s. strategy in dealing with iran that's really hard to tell because donald trump keeps sending mixed messages as we've seen in the report he's threatening the country but at the same time he says we could make a new deal and if making a new deal is what he actually wants then he's just made a mistake because the latest round of sanctions targets the supreme leader for example that's been a and he's the person who would have to approve fresh talks before they even start and they also target the foreign minister zarif was the person who would negotiate on the side of iran so that hasn't become more likely so that's why the supreme

leader ruled out fresh negotiations saying that force this is obviously the only language the washington understands ok the u.s. pulled out of the iran's nuclear deal but there are other signatories as well big important ones china russia the europeans can they not provide the sanctions relief that iran is looking for that's how with the u.s. i mean the europeans are trying they're trying to install a mechanism called instax which would enable trade between europe and iran but that's not really up and running they've been trying to do that for a number of months now and it still isn't isn't working and it's really hard to circumvent those sanctions without the u.s. because so much internationally is dependent on the dollar and the banking system that space than the u.s. 3 so thank you very much correspondent teresa tropper. some of the other stories making headlines around the world today fenice whalen

well here in germany the trial begins today of 3 men allegedly involved in sexually abusing more than 20 children at a campsite in the town of looked up the abuse allegedly took place over decades and there's been serious criticism of the authorities failure to take action against the main suspect even after red flags were raised several years ago. it was here at this camping ground that the 2 suspects allegedly abused over 40 children their victims included the main suspects own foster daughter as well as children as young as 4 years old the only good at solving a relatively short period of time through interrogation and deduction we were able to determine that many children had been abused additionally we found evidence of child pornography much of which were self-made. the police are now giving their full attention to the case after dragging their feet thick years say critics

potentially hazardous side effect the explosion of undead unaided war time bombs during the 2nd world war the allies drop millions of bombs over germany thousands of them lie undiscovered still with life uses. after the discovery of a mysterious crater in a western german field it quickly emerged that a world war 2 bomb exploded spontaneously many are wondering if it was due to the scorching summer weather. time and again in germany unexploded aerial bombs are still being found. usually there detonated and controlled explosions at special sites like this one in berlin specialists don't rule out the possibility that heat can trigger the explosion but they say it's unlikely. that. temperatures play a role but even so the release mechanism spring retains its force for a very long time for more than 70 years at some point due to the nature of the

the ground and the blistering temperatures are increasing the danger they pose. after a well earned day off the women's world cup restarts tonight with the 1st quarter final match up between norway and england young expat from v.w. sports is with me and you know that before we look ahead to what's coming up you were in france last week you went to the turn of the games yourself checked out the scene there tell me how the tournament has been playing up on the field so far you know on the field is spain overall a great spectacle i think the quality among top teams in particular has been excellent there's been a lot of goals 126 in fact almost 3 per game so it's always exciting for the fans and the quality is only going to get better as the top teams are playing against each other and so yeah the quality on the field in terms of the play is fantastic but the elephant in the room is of course the video assistant referee or which for
9:20 am
me has been a bit of a disaster i think you know largely decisions have been correct that they've made but the implementation has not been good have not enough it's been a bit chaotic it's taking 23 sometimes even 5 minutes for a referee to watch really watch replays and then make a decision and for me i think some of the decisions are a bit too pedantic. and it's taking away some of the joy of football it's a simple game in it should be a simple game so unfair it has to be scrapped or at least withdrawn reviewed made better and then brought back in so good play on the field video assistant referee not so sure of. what off the field i mean a lot of fans are there for the tournaments getting a lot of attention as have been been good there largely yes it has as you said i was over the last week i was in grenoble it was absolutely buzzing there the dutch fans in particular have been fantastic and french fans of also turned out in numbers and a lot of american fans as well attendance is have been a little bit of an issue there's been some hot field stadiums that have made

headlines nice in particular has really dropped the ball they've had less than 50 percent capacity i was at the england japan match in nice and you can buy tickets on the day so i think faith has a lot to answer in terms of selling those tickets mocking the games you couldn't even tell there was a game on in a snow kind of signs or anything around but let's look at the positives attendances are growing the viewership figures on t.v. around the world is fantastic and it's you know women's football is getting bigger and better i can see it getting a lot of attention the quarter finals kick off tonight so what do we have to look forward to next year we have some great games coming up so 1st up we have england versus norway we can talk about that in a little bit but the big standout is france 1st the usa this is the host of course against the defending champions and that game is sold out tickets are going on sale and the 2nd market for 10 times in market value then we have the surprise package italy against netherlands the european champions and finally we have germany
9:22 am
against sweden and for me germany are looking like the standout team in this quarterfinals. clash is ahead tonight yet we have norway against england so norway and flown on of the radar a bit 2 years ago they failed at the euros without scoring a goal but it really come back very very strongly to have a strong defense with. marriott. i think i'm pretty house that correctly they have rocks in the fence and they should be katie in this match and then up front as well they have caroline hansen who will cause england a lot of problems and even themselves have some fitness doubts that captain steph holton is an injury doubt in this game and also her defensive patna believe brought as a virus has been a virus going around the england camp so we're yet to see how the england team will line up but i think this game will hinge on the defense and noise is strong in the missing a few key players potentially and so on tipping norway to spring a surprise and knocking one out of this tournament very exciting stuff will be
