a single aim of the president all troll for the 2020 us election few voters are putting money on $1.00 standout contender xandra phenomena was in miami for the official start of the democrats race for the white house. to watch prachi in a bar in downtown miami organized by a network of women of color in florida many here told me they were interested and that's when things went to complain but still needed to learn more about that candidate i hope to see women standing up and you know talking about women's protective right civil rights immigration and i need to learn more about them more centrist and right wing. candidates because i'm a progressive they may root for different candidates but there is one thing the old we on these groups. who go to the democratic party here in miami say they year ending for a candidate who can be done all trumped by many voters india as happy as to pull
10:03 am
the 2 in the so the stakes are high for the 1st debates which have the potential to shake out the democratic presidential field the most diverse field ever many contenders have been struggling to garner attention and raise money now they have a chance to take their message directly to a national primetime audience. and that was what they tried to do in the end is senator elizabeth warren was the only candidate on the 1st night to be pulling in double digits and set the tone for the party's progressive week where i want to start this is i want to return government to the people and that means calling out the names of the monopolist and saying i have the courage to go after him other contenders remain more cautious suggesting some plans might go too far immigration policy was also one of the main topics with cool young cost would dominate here.
10:04 am
the former mayor of san antonio proposed decriminalizing undocumented immigration and the audience in this bar seems to like i for one i could see her a icon's hero seems to be really impassioned about his life his whole feeling about the immigration issue yeah. the 1st debate is over on thursday the leading candidates will take the stage in miami. say a look now at some of the other stories making news around the world today the united nations expert has said saudi crown prince mohamed bin solomons a set should be targeted with sanctions prince aman is suspected of having ordered the death of journalist from the hawks in the saudi consulate in istanbul last year u.n. experts said sanctions should stay in place until there was proof that the prince was not responsible for the defense ministers of the nato alliance are considering

10:07 am
to german press agency d.p.a. that the chancellor is in good health that she is continuing with her agenda no plans as usual on those plans include the trip that you just mentioned to the g 20 in japan and so it seems that again that it could have been something down to dehydration it's important to stress terry that but is now it stream really haughton fact direct quote temperatures have been broken in recent days yesterday in fact it was over 35 degrees celsius here in the german capital so that could be a reason why the german chancellor was she was seen shaking once again well thomas thank you very much for bringing us up to date their political correspondent thomas sparrow. german authorities have arrested 2 more suspects linked to the killing of . the 45 year old suspect identified as stefan and has been detained behind these

walls for the last 10 days on tuesday he confessed to shooting file to look saying he acted alone but germany's chief federal prosecutor doubts this what you thought i always thought of this our investigations will focus on the possibility that there were supporters accessories helpers or other perpetrators. and we will determine whether this crime was the work of a terrorist organization. or if the suspect is a member of a right wing terrorist group. dance did have contact to far right groups including one called combat 18 the armed wing of a band supremacy group blood and on or. he was convicted of numerous hate crimes for 10 years ago he disappeared from the authorities radar something that hasn't yet been explained in

a parliamentary session earlier today the president of the bundestag pointed to the roots of such crimes mentioned for the hits of hatred and contempt xenophobia is the breeding ground for violence and killing as it was in the past and whoever cultivates this breeding ground is also guilty that's what people have to understand now. the killing of volatile it evokes the worst memories in post-war germany a shot to the head at close range without anyone taking responsibility is a reminder of the serial killing of 10 victims most of them immigrants between 2002007 those killings were committed by the n.s.a. to the national socialist underground he thought to dupe his killer have contact with this group stefan and name did come up during the investigation of those cases he was considered a violent neo nazi. maybe we have to rewrite the history of the national socialist underground. in fact the motive for the shooting death of could date back to 2015

when large groups of refugees were arriving in germany during a local event to discuss a planned refugee shelter look at who backed chancellor merkel's refugee policy had said germans who couldn't accept the presence of refugees could leave germany if they wished stefan and says it was this statement that spurred him to coo. of of course member of chancellor merkel said you parky just a one note on that german authorities have now arrested 2 more suspects linked to his killing you're watching d.w. news still to come the explosion of a 2nd world war ball in a german field has got people asking could the extreme heat be to blame. now to italy where a standoff is escalating between that country's far right interior minister and

a german n.g.o.s whose migrant rescue ship as illegally entered it tally in waters the ships carrying 42 migrants said it picked up off the coast of libya 2 weeks ago italy's interior minister says he won't allow any of them to disembark he's threatened to see is the ship and arrest its captain. for weeks the sea watch 3 have been circling the island of lampedusa. now with the migrants on board reportedly desperate and exhausted the captain decided enough was enough the boat entered italian waters on wednesday risking the wrath of the country's government. be telling us r.t.e. 7 just come on board the ministry has now turned on the son the mom off on to some of the checked our subset of the cans in the morning of the crew. and now they are waiting for from the instructions from necessary as i really hate devil take the rescue off the ship but italy's interior minister is refusing to take any migrants
10:12 am
tales salvini built his reputation taking a tough line on migration now he's threatened legal action against the ship's crew of the obvious that you were warned you on board that we will use all the means democratically allowed to block this blatant contempt of the law. was this complete disregard for law and order. i am not giving and will not give permission to anyone to disembark to anyone. no under a new law vessels that define orders to keep out of italian waters could face hefty fines and potential seizure. salvini insists responsibility for taking the migrants lies with germany where the sea watch nonprofit is headquartered for the netherlands because the ship is sailing under a dutch plank but so far no country has volunteered to take them in meaning it may

be much longer before these people step foot on solid ground. their rent says today is the day that its uranium enrichment levels could exceed the cap set by the 2015 nuclear accord it would be the 1st breach of the deal which is aimed at restricting tehran's nuclear ambitions in exchange for an easing of international sanctions this comes after the u.s. abandoned the deal last year and imposed new sanctions now iran says it sees no reason to comply unless britain france and germany step in to help a deal isn't a deal if only one side has to honor it that was the iranian ambassador his message to the un the 2015 nuclear deal also known as a j c p o a is all burden and no benefit. in practical terms it has become an agreement which is being respected only by one party it on has done
10:14 am
a lot and much more than its fair share to preserve the nuclear the it on alone channel shall not you know own all of the burdens anymore to preserve it is if you really. but the grievance also came with an ultimatum to the european signatories stand up to us aggression all along with the u.s. accept the food responsibility for any possible consequences one potential consequence an iran with weapons grade and rich uranium with tehran recently quadrupling its production of low enriched uranium european leaders worry that that's a possibility. iran's ultimatum comes amid rising tensions between tehran and the white house the u.s. accused iran of attacking 2 oil tankers which iran denies and downing a u.s. drone which iran says had invaded its airspace. u.s.
10:15 am
president donald trump threaten to obliterate iran while claiming his ultimate goal is to renegotiate a nuclear deal tehran's response that door has closed. well for more on this story i'm joined now by our iran correspondent teresa tropper teresa good to have you in the studio one year after the u.s. told of the iran nuclear deal to iran is now bumping up its uranium stockpile what message is tehran sending with this move well as you've said it's been years and pulled out of the nuclear agreement and so far iran has complied with it even though it didn't get any benefits from that and the economic sanctions that were imposed in the past year have really. had dramatic effect on the country's economy and also on the people's lives there so that's why officials in tehran calling it economic warfare and since the other countries that signed the deal so the europeans china russia when not able to provide relief so far iran is now ramping
10:16 am
up the pressure and trying to tell them ok now you need to act now and that's why they're stepping across the lines of the nuclear deal now redlines one at a time or stuffing across this particular line with enriched uranium in a way that is getting a lot of attention and we know assume that iran is working as fast as it can to get nuclear weapons well that's the big question here of course what's sure to say is that they're getting closer to having a nuclear weapon by doing so because with enriching uranium up to 20 percent and also by keeping larger quantities of it inside the country they're getting close to being able to build a nuclear weapon but with that uranium enriched to 20 percent they can have like a reset reactor for example but for weapons they need to enrich it up to 90. purse and that's of course still
10:17 am
a long way to go and iran says they don't even want to go there they the foreign minister zarif for example just reiterated that iran will never pursue a nuclear weapon because it's against the country's religious belief there's even a fatwa against nuclear weapons in iran but of course not all the countries in the region one true rely on that and the u.s. especially doesn't trust those assurances and the u.s. of course under president drone trump has pulled out of the around nuclear deal mel what is the u.s. strategy in dealing with iran that's really hard to tell because donald trump keeps sending mixed messages as we've seen in the report he's threatening the country but at the same time he says we could make a new deal and if making a new deal is what he actually wants then he's just made a mistake because the latest round of sanctions targets the supreme leader for example that's come in a and he's the person who would have to approve fresh talks before they even start
10:18 am
and they also target the foreign minister zarif was the person who would negotiate on the side of iran so that hasn't become more likely so that's why the supreme leader ruled out fresh negotiations saying that force is obviously the only language washington understands. ok the u.s. pulled out of the iran's nuclear deal but there are other signatories as well big important ones china russia the europeans can they not provide the sanctions relief that iran is looking for that's how without the u.s. i mean the europeans are trying they're trying to install a mechanism called instax which would enable trade between europe and iran but that's not really up and running they've been trying to do that for a number of months now and it still isn't isn't working and it's really hard to circumvent those sanctions without the u.s. because so much internationally is dependent on the dollar and the banking system that space than the u.s. 3 so thank you very much d.w. ziran correspondent teresa tropper millions of people here in europe are

battling to cope with high temperatures as they were heat wave maintains its grip on the continent and it's set to get hotter towards the weekend now the heat is being in directly linked to another unexpected but potentially hazardous side effect the explosion of on designated wartime ball during the 2nd world war the allies drop millions of bombs over germany thousands of them lie undiscovered still with live fuses. after the discovery of a mysterious crater in a western german field it quickly emerged that a world war 2 bomb exploded spontaneously many are wondering if it was due to the scorching summer weather. time and again in germany unexploded aerial bombs are still being found. usually are detonated and controlled explosions at special sites like this one in berlin specialists don't rule out the possibility that heat can
10:20 am
trigger the explosion but they say it's unlikely. that. temperatures play a role but even so the release mechanism spring retains its force for a very long time for more than 70 years at some point due to the nature of the material the plates retention forced to creases than the spring releases and the bomb explodes it's not necessarily dependent on temperature the bombs can lie there undisturbed and still detonate at some point. fingers or didn't get on one. forest fires increased the risk of explosion in the district of what was west berlin experts think munitions are still left over from training exercises by occupying our lots. still hard to determine exactly where the allies trained and where left over munitions may possibly still be on the ground we don't know exactly where or when the soldiers completed training exercises or what munitions
10:21 am
they used. in brandenburg the area surrounding berlin fire services extinguished blazes from the air for fear of possible explosions this area was used for decades as a military training area in former east germany perils from the past still lurk in the ground and the blistering temperatures are increasing the danger they pose. after a well earned day off the women's world cup restarts tonight with the 1st quarter final match up between norway and england young expat from v.w. sports is with b. and the other before we look ahead to what's coming up you were in france last week you went to the turn of the games yourself checked out the scene there tell me how the tournament has been playing up on the field so far you know on the field is spain overall a great spectacle i think the quality among top teams in particular has been excellent there's been a lot of goals 126 in fact almost 3 per game so it's always exciting for the fans
10:22 am
and the quality is only going to get better as the top teams are playing against each other and so yeah the quality on the field in terms of the play is fantastic bought the elephant in the room is of course the video assistant referee all which for me has been a bit of a disaster i think you know a lot of the decisions have been correct that they've made but the implementation has not been good have not enough it's been a bit chaotic it's taking 23 sometimes even 5 minutes for a referee to watch really watch replays and then make a decision and for me i think some of the decisions are a bit too pedantic and it's taking on. way some of the joy of football it's a simple game in it should be a simple game so unfair it has to be scrapped or at least withdrawn reviewed made better and then brought back in so good play on the field video assistant referee not so sure of. what off the field i mean a lot of fans are there for the tournaments getting a lot of attention as have been been good there largely yes it has as you said i
10:23 am
was over the last week i was in grenoble it was absolutely buzzing there the dutch fans in particular have been fantastic and french fans of also turned out in numbers and a lot of american fans as well tennis is have been a little bit of an issue there's been some hot field stadiums that have made headlines nice in particular has really dropped the ball they've had less than 50 percent capacity i was at the england japan match in nice and you can buy tickets on the day so i think faith has a lot to answer in terms of selling those tickets mocking the games you couldn't even tell there was a game on in a snow kind of signs or anything around but let's look at the positives attendances are growing the viewership figures on t.v. around the world is fantastic and it's you know women's football is getting bigger and better i can see it getting a lot of attention the quarter finals kick off tonight so what we have to look forward to next year we have some great games coming up so 1st up we have england versus norway we can talk about that in a little bit but the big standout is france 1st the usa this is the host of course
10:24 am
against the defending champions and that game is sold out tickets are going on sale on the 2nd market for 10 times their market value then we have the surprise package italy against netherlands the european champions and finally we have germany against sweden and from a germany a looking like the standout team in this quarterfinals. clash is ahead tonight yet we have norway against england so neuer flown under the radar a bit 2 years ago they failed at the euros without scoring a goal but they've really come back very very strongly to have a strong defense with. a tourist or tia. i think i pronounce that correctly they have rocks in the fence and they should be in this match and then up front as well they have caroline hansen who will cause england a lot of problems and even themselves have some fitness doubts that captain steph horton is an injury doubt in this game and also her defense department believe brought as a virus has been a virus going around the england camp so we're yet to see how the england team will
10:25 am
line up but i think this game will hinge on the defense and noise is strong in with a missing a few key players potentially and so on tipping norway to spring a surprise and knock england out of this tournament very exciting stuff will be watching of course and reporting for all our viewers are over the next 3 days of the finals coming up here in the quarter at least in the in the world cup wins work of young expat from sports thanks so much fun. runner the top stories we're following for you here today on the news in the u.s. the 1st 10 democratic presidential hopefuls have clashed in a televised debate there from a wider field of contenders with some of the more well known names debating later today elizabeth warren cemented her status as a print runner in the 1st round scoring points with universal health care and economic reform. german authorities have arrested 2 more suspects linked to the killing of politician votto
