still that in november he's going to put auto tariffs on cars that are being imported into the u. . yes that is where the last word most recent word from those from representatives of european governments who have talked to. you know government officials there and with congressional members that is widely expected this doesn't really get into that this is more this is closer to the trade deal that the 2 sides are trying to work out it seems to touch that agricultural issue which is the real sticking point between both sides but the same time this doesn't really mean anything in those in that area because this is a carve out that was already there it doesn't mean an increase in the import of beef in the european union so that you know it's all hat no cattle. let's take a listen to donald trump and what he said just a short while ago and then we'll take it to helena and washington. today we're signing a breakthrough agreement that will make it easier to export american beef into the

a lot of people are kind of nervous about it obviously i mean if you look at wall street right now it's sort of everyone is now switching at every sort of news about the trade disputes and this is a big one the next $300000000000.00 worth of chinese imports and it's going to a lot of consumer goods we're talking i phones we're talking you know mac books computers clothing toys for your kids so there's a greater chance consumers are going to feel this and also what's interesting is that you know this thing with the beef also may be a signal to his farming constituency right because they've been hit hard by the straightest you and they may also look at what happened. yesterday and said this isn't going to end well we're going to keep losing what's interesting though is that beef exporters in the u.s. have actually done very well it's really soybean grain growers it's pork producers these are the ones who are getting hit hard by the china trade dispute so well this looks good right here to have guys instead sins in your office and say these these farmers are winning now because of my trade policies if you look at it there are a lot of others who are really losing and that's the bigger concern here is that

they're going to keep losing unless this bigger trade dispute is taken care of is ended not to mention if one with the e.u. is maybe avoided i want to give you the last word this is mean that the president also partially realizes that he can ill afford to alienate the europeans at this at this moment i think is the sense that he just needs to show that he is nearing some resolution some way and it's perhaps easier to clean up from the europeans than it is from china right now because i mean if you take a look at really the economic impact of his trade war with china for example it is now starting to dent global growth entering its 2nd year we've seen a dent there including on european growth as well and then of course we he's got an eye to the 2020 presidential election of course and as stephen was saying he needs to show that he can score some points he is the man who rips up trade deals then tries to have them renegotiated and then signed and of course that is where he's
