like shocked i would say shocked today and they were not able to speak they were crying and it was like a trauma what is going on here and what is happening to people and at that time many many people where captivity so we also get colds from the women who are in. iraq and just heard the names of the cities where like what i'm doing here what is happening here and that at that time it was one of the most dangerous places because it was 2 weeks after. we had it and my mother was crying and was like why are you going and i said. and therefore i have to go and i was very proud that my father came with me from the beginning when you saw all the refugees who were living there. in this very awful situation i didn't ask any more about my own feelings because there was a happening on going on tell me about once i mean of course i mean what has
8:16 pm
happened to the. i mean we can't even imagine a slave rape torture you name it it has happened to the community by us but is there one story that stood out for you i always have to think of. and young mean used as a child soldier and he was used as a very dramatic way in the videos from isis and he was and when he came back he didn't speak his could language and more and that was a very sad moment because the 1st time when i meet him he was laughing but the less time there was no life any more in his. and to saw him to saw his parents and siblings was very awful because he was like the outside no he was. and i asked about what it's you thinking
8:17 pm
and he said to me i want to go to my mom and i sold he mean. but he meant his i have this mom from us and he wished he was just talking english and i think he's one of many many examples what does it mean to be in the hands of i have years of years of votes we had she was in the hands and it's like they are between the life and they came back they could not forgot what was happening to them and he was a little tired soul. it's very point where you point out there because of that is of course the ultimate genocide where you wipe out somebody's identity and they've done that with this child. now or 5 years on what's the situation like we've seen the monsters now being uncovered evidence is being searched what is happening to the user community can they go back what are you hearing unfortunately there's no way to go back and i'm wondering where the 5 years are going and it's like this
8:18 pm
life changing moment well for all of us because we're just talking about 1000000 years cities and 500. displaced and the other one's on the thing in the esperance and then there's thing in refugee camps so right now there's no way a return back to their homeland because there's no secure in safety so all what they want is justice of course do recognition of the genocide but also all the opportunity to go back to their homeland because that had nothing to do with living and i did t. chems and i think the big difference beside 2 of the refugees is talking about and genocide and this is what is in their neck they say it's not about me hungry or thirsty or if you feed from other things we're talking about a genocide and there's still over $3000.00 women just and there are so many who have included and of course. they don't speak english but everyone knows what
8:19 pm
genocide means and that means it's still in their side that they want just justice and i think this is the reason. than to get out and speak out what was happening to them and this is something which is not very typical for women who have been raped as a weapon of wall and i think the fed by people especially the women used voice means that this is the only choice to get out and therefore we as and all which was born out of the edges of genocide fighting and go on for this women and what we find very important is to make thea that the enemies of the people are the enemy of all of us to talk about demonization and genocide must be something which be against also in europe and therefore it's not just for the other 2 people it's about humanity it is about humanity and of course what is so striking is exactly
8:20 pm
what you've mentioned is the strength of the cd women which is beyond our inspiring i don't it's an effort i can't even describe that type of courage that they've displayed do you plan on returning of course i do because there's no option not to be turned back so i'm there every 2 months and we have a women a poem and center in iraq for 900 women men but also muslim and christian who want to go back to life we help them with a problem and programs. programs together with the development minister mr. who is helping us a lot and we are very happy also we as you do woman who was born and raised in germany that we took a chance and that we said we have to react and we have to be there. because to say it again we are not talking about changing something we are fighting for existence
8:21 pm
and to collar germany filmmaker thank you so much all the best thank you. president donald trump has announced that the u.s. will be selling more duty free beef to the european union analysts are calling it a gesture of goodwill to america's largest trading partner while trade tensions have arisen between the e.u. and the u.s. during trump's 1st years in office trump has made it a central policy of his presidency to shake up global trade halting talks on a transatlantic trade deal and launching a trade war with china while on thursday he threatened to impose a new 10 percent tariff on $300000000000.00 worth of chinese imports and global markets took a dip in response from defenses that combative a trade tactics as part of his america 1st policy.
8:22 pm
and now we've got team coverage for you in washington helena humphrey is tracking that perspective and with me here in the studio is stephen beardsley from a business desk when i give you the 1st word stephen all right so when the president announced that he was going to make a statement on the u.s. e.u. trade it's safe to say that a lot of people here were really were baited breath do you think they're relieved when no one ever knows what to expect when he announces there's going to say something on trade i think they were relieved in one sense this is a nice small gesture that the e.u. could do for the u.s. at a time where there's so much trade tensions the terrorists were raised yesterday or at least they were now if they're going to be raised of this still doesn't solve the underlying problem of a lot of the issues between the u.s. and the e.u. and not just on trade but also with things like air bus subsidies which trouble certain tariffs over or the nord stream to deal with the u.s. congress is about to sanction there's a lot of issues that this doesn't really touch on. i think the wide expectation is
8:23 pm
still that in november he's going to put auto tariffs on cars that are being imported into the u. . yes that is where the last word most recent word from those from representatives of european governments who have talked to. you know government officials there and with congressional members that is widely expected this doesn't really get into that this is more this is closer to the trade deal that the 2 sides are trying to work out it seems to touch that agricultural issue which is the real sticking point between both sides but the same time this doesn't really mean anything in those in that area because this is a carve out that was already there it doesn't mean an increase in the import of beef in the european union so that you know it's all hat no cattle. let's take a listen to donald trump and what he said just a short while ago and then we'll take it to helena and washington. today we're signing a breakthrough agreement that will make it easier to export american beef into the
8:24 pm
european union and we've been under negotiation for quite a while. and the farmers we didn't think were being treated fair but the european union stepped up and we appreciate it we have great representatives here with us today this is a the european union stepped up helena looks like that you dodged a bullet there because not so long ago other president claimed that the block was for him to take advantage of the u.s. does it mean that the president had a change of heart. i would say about it announced late as stephen needed to that as well i mean for a start i think the white house needs to show that it is making some progress some way with its various trade spots and talks around the wall so you know this is a small win for the president but you know remember it does come amid a backdrop of talks between the united states in the european union which date
8:25 pm
story and that was merely just trying to lay the groundwork for a trade deal between the 2 blocs if they hit that stephen mentioned and issue of agriculture and today the president then went on to say that he was making a level playing field for us follows but i think at the end of the day we have to remember that they're all significant meme number of lingering issues between the united states and the european union when it comes to trade despite the fact that they are each other's largest trading partners and brussels still wants to have those industrial towers removed and then of course there is that ever present hope threat of those tariffs a potentially in november which would be a particularly damaging for the european union not least germany of course all right so where there is still so much to look forward to stephen the president does still have these with china i mean that lends itself for pun so many times i can't stop myself he took that trade feud up another notch and
8:26 pm
a lot of people are kind of nervous about it obviously i mean if you look at wall street right now it's sort of everyone is now switching at every sort of news about the trade disputes and this is a big one the next $300000000000.00 worth of chinese imports and it's going to a lot of consumer goods we're talking i phones we're talking you know mac books computers clothing toys for your kids so there's a greater chance consumers are going to feel this and also what's interesting is that you know this thing with the beef also may be a signal to his farming constituency right because they've been hit hard by the straightest you and they may also look at what happened. yesterday and said this isn't going to end well we're going to keep losing what's interesting though is that beef exporters in the u.s. have actually done very well it's really soybean grain growers it's pork producers these are the ones who are getting hit hard by the china trade dispute so well this looks good right here to have guys instead sins in your office and say these these farmers are winning now because of my trade policies if you look at it there are a lot of others who are really losing and that's the bigger concern here is that
8:27 pm
they're going to keep losing unless this bigger trade dispute is taken care of is ended not to mention if one with the e.u. is maybe avoided i want to give you the last word this is mean that the president also partially realizes that he can ill afford to alienate the europeans at this at this moment i think is the sense that he just needs to show that he is nearing some resolution some way and it's perhaps easier to clean up from the europeans than it is from china right now because i mean if you take a look at really the economic impact of his trade war with china for example it is now starting to dent global growth entering its 2nd year we've seen a dent there including on european growth as well and then of course we he's got an eye to the 2020 presidential election of course and as stephen was saying he needs to show that he can score some points he is the man who rips up trade deals then tries to have them renegotiated and then signed and of course that is where he's
8:28 pm
had some trouble getting them signed on the dotted line so he needs to make up some ground there and you know once again the white house also needs to try to put something out right now to to calm markets which were severely rattled off the move yesterday against china helmsley reporting from washington and with me on the set stephen brutally from r d w a business and thank you both want to remind you know of the top stories that we're tracking for you this hour. the u.s. senate russia have blamed each other for ending a landmark nuclear missile treaty dating from the cold war nato secretary general young stoltenberg has insisted the west doesn't want anyone arms race. don't forget you can always get into readings on the go just hello to our out firm groove 0.4 from the app store they'll give you access to all the latest news from around the world as well as push notifications for any breaking news you can also
