a 2nd day to greet passengers arriving in the city drawing international attention to their cause saturday morning also saw a rather tranquil rally in support of the pro-democracy movement it brought together families demanding a stable and free future the wave of protests began 3 months ago in opposition to draft legislation to allow suspects in criminal cases to be tried in mainland china but the demands have widened. i'm worried if the extradition law to china is imposed or this movement of ours is a failure my kids might have no democracy or freedom and a lot of things will be taken over by the mainlanders. a group of elderly people also submitted petition letters to the police and the authorities to stop and investigate what they call violence against the protesters especially a clashes in july. the reputation of the hong kong police was so good for more than

even this rally today is authorized by the author already is and it seems much bigger than the ones that we've seen in the past few weeks people here are chanting for freedom chanting for the independent candidates to be registered and several celebrities including well known musicians and well known bloggers have called for people to come out today in the streets of moscow as well. i mean how realistic is it that the protestors will succeed with the key demand and that is of course if the opposition can. the dates be allowed to take part in the local election. i think the chances that the independent candidates will be registered at this point is basically 0 in fact the central election commission here in russia this week finally decided or get gave their final decision on many of them and said that they wouldn't be registered let me tell you again what is happening here essentially the independent candidates who want to register to run in the upcoming

moscow parliament elections in september they have to collect a certain amount of signatures in their district and the independent candidates say they did that the author already say that those many of those signatures were invalid that they contained so-called dead souls so people who don't exist people who are already dead the independent candidates say no the author already is kind of didn't register them on purpose and made mistakes when putting the names of their signatures into the database on purpose so they're claiming that this is really a soft an attack on democracy in russia in general and that it's about much more than just moscow city elections. and really sure when in moscow 1st thank you so much. hundreds of people have attended a prayer service in berlin to show solidarity with the rabbi who was assaulted in the german capital german foreign ministry heiko mosque was among those who

attended the service in a synagogue on friday the attack took place 2 weeks ago by 2 arabic speaking men as the rabbi walked home with his son after conducting a service at the synagogue it's the latest in a string of recent anti-semitic attacks in germany. synagogue is rabbi yehuda title's workplace it isn't far from where he was recently attacked it happened on his way home from services 2 men approached hurling insults in german in arabic and also spat on him it's fun to tear the fish. it was dramatic my child was with me. i was really shaken should not. anti-semitism is growing again in germany the hate and violence directed at jews come largely from the far right although the muslim community also bears some responsibility.
