i'm protesters have also been blocking what's normally a really busy airport is travel being disrupted there as well. while the international airport in hong kong remains functional so. the fact that the protest this has staged a peaceful sit in a sampling all part of the day in a row already but i hope we can hundreds if not thousands of us sitting peacefully at the time in the off the hong kong international airport and their aim is to this them leave them nothing and their commands to their governments to the 2 different tourists around the wall and they want to have boys to be heard on the international stage and that's why that's the reason why they chose airport as that's nation off the poles has and that is one of the most peaceful rallies or one of the peaceful actions. taken in these movements so far and they're showing that

they feel they're not going to back down clashes have been happening on the streets but now some of them they want to take a more peaceful or probably 2 to address the issue to the rest of the law no end in sight by the looks of it at the moment thanks phebe cong. as to yemen now where a saudi led coalition has launched airstrikes on southern separatists in aden after the separatists effectively took over the port city the un says up to 40 people died in that fighting and coalition is calling the separatist actions a coup and blaming the united arab emirates until now the u.a.e. had sided with saudi arabia in a 4 year conflict it's a development that has apparently split the 2 middle east allies. fighters seeking independence from yemen south take control of the presidential palace the separatists backed by the united arab emirates claim they seized the compound

without a fight. since 2014 they have been part of the saudi led military coalition fighting the who the rebels now the allies have turned on each other adding a further fault lines to the conflict tearing apart but a lot of them got a little we achieved a big victory in the south capital they didn't win this time pro governor pataki and where defeated. set up not know the law. it follows several days of intense clashes in aden with residents caught in the crossfire. the war began 5 years ago when escalated in 2015 when a saudi led military coalition intervened in support of the country's embattled government after the who these took the capital sanaa. tens of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict the vast majority of them civilians the u.n. calls it the world's worst humanitarian crisis an estimated 80 percent of yemen's population require some form of protection or humanitarian assistance and millions

of children are suffering from severe malnutrition. after the outbreak of fighting in aden the aid agency doctors without borders describe the city as a battlefield as civilians continue to bear the brunt of this ongoing conflict. i'm joined now by as is al gash and he's a middle east researcher at essex university in the u.k. and his thanks for joining me what do these latest developments mean for this very complex conflict. well good afternoon and thank you very much for having me i think these latest. developments or who's ever following the situation in yemen might not find it very surprising the s.t.c. have always been aspiring. to establish their state and also to overrun the heidi government. but this threat has been neutralized
4:07 pm
due to the common perception of who the rebels now what this is essentially hopping what is that what this is essentially doing is that it is really creating a very big headache for saudi arabia as well as the u.a.e. but more importantly they are playing and hindering the legitimacy of the not only to have the government but also the the saudi and the u.a.e. use of force of course the u.a.e. people pulled out of the saudi the saudi use of force so it's it's a significant situation but it seems to be manageable or they seem to be managing it at the time well we've seen that saudi arabia's only already begun retaliating what else are they likely to do now. well they've already
4:08 pm
invited these to the talks that they're going to buy that this some of the representatives to to riyadh and to negotiate with the government now with the high government. unfortunately they are perceived as people that are that cannot conduct. the institutions that come they you know they say they're not doing their job properly so what is happening now is that they are trying to reach some kind of negotiation and what the saudi forces have done is that they have had a measured use of force rather than an overt use of force they they if you look at the language in the statements they said that they are targeting. a low as we seem to be losing you know they're. sorry. as is our guest in a minute ok as is our gash i'm sorry we'll have to leave it there thanks very much

4:11 pm
forward sooner than maybe he would have done it so all the girls i feel really guilty to list if it was. a conviction for epstein could have meant the rest of his life in prison now many questions remain will the authorities further investigate the sex trafficking allegations and will possible accomplices be held to account. and as we heard after abstains death questions have been mounting about the future of the investigation and about the circumstances surrounding it and they did raise public foley is joins me now from washington hadlow what more can you tell us about the future of this investigation after abstains death. hi rebecca well we know that the attorney general william barr century ordered an investigation to take place and you know the justice office's office of the inspector general is carrying out an investigation that is also. one of the
4:12 pm
investigations idolised of course the f.b.i. are also investigating the death of geoffrey epstein now there are a lot of answers to remain unanswered to at the moment let's not forget that just 24 hours before the death of geoffrey epstein over 2000 previously owned sealed documents were released and in those documents we see the accusers of some of those heinous crimes. jeffrey epstein was a was accused of also name perhaps many associates and people who perhaps could also be charged in relation to those crimes that jeffrey epstein allegedly carried out and that there have been also some prominent names being mentioned particularly here in the media it's been talked about quite a lot and you know we're talking about. perhaps even people who were working on
4:13 pm
behalf of jeffrey epstein so i don't think for now we're going to be seeing the end of this case and like i said 2 big investigations taking place at the moment the f.b.i. and the office of the inspector general just briefly if you can what about the alleged victim in all of this how are they reacting to this latest development. well they're obviously devastated with the fact that they won't get essentially their day in court with jeffrey epstein but there has been a lot of talk a lot of the representatives the lawyers for the accusers have said that they're going to push ahead with perhaps civil action or civil suits and there's also like i mentioned people who were implicated in some way with jeffrey epstein case could end up in court or being charged with with some of those crimes jeffrey epstein was facing. foley ileus in washington for us thanks very much that update.
