this is g.w. news live from berlin just brought her is to release the iranian oil tanker seized last month the supreme court approves freeing the ship the grace one despite a last minute plea from the u.s. already is it could mean a swap with a british flag tanker being held by a rock. also coming up in israel bars to u.s. democratic congresswoman from visiting the country prime minister benjamin

netanyahu says their visit was meant to harm israel and the miracle of the hudson but this time in a cornfield near of moscow the pilot heeled as a hero after a flock of goals forced him to crash land soon after take off. i'm sorry kelly welcome to the program the gibraltar supreme court has ordered the release of the iranian oil tanker c s last month by britain that's despite an application by the united states to keep the ship in detention to baltar police and the british navy seized the vessel the grey swan at the beginning of july it was suspected of taking a rani in oil to syria which would violate e.u. and us sanctions to baltar's chief justice says that iran has now guaranteed in writing that the oil was not going to syria. 2 weeks after the great swan was

seized iran captured a british flag tanker. to race a trooper who joins us now from iran and islands on the strait of hormuz to reset tell us what these latest developments that we're hearing now from divorce or what does that mean for the stand the imperiled that british flag tanker being held by tehran. well that's the news on iran has been waiting for the past few days because in those days preparations have been made for potential exchange i was source within the iranian revolutionary guards told us that the british tanker has been moved lately from the place it was detained a couple of weeks ago and kept since then to a place closer to the port and bandar abbas and that port is a place we cannot go because we're told that there's an increased number of st paul military forces there so now as soon as the bridge the iranian tanker is released
8:03 pm
the chances are high that the same will happen to the british tanker here in the strait of hormuz but so far there's no confirmation for that yet from any official and we know iran has repeatedly threatened to block the strait of hormuz in the conflict with the united states could have blockade happened if the u.s. still tries to seize the iranian vessel in. yeah rouhani has threatened that a couple of times already but so far i have never done so but detainment of the british ship alone has slowed down trade here in this very important strategic region for international trade a lot i was out in the strait of hormuz today with a boat and i could hardly see any ships the only only tank i saw at all was an iranian one so that's obviously the detainment of this ship alone was enough to scare other traders away so it's important to know that the.

quality of the global all consumption so it has a tremendous effect on international trade and we have some positioning with regard to the strait of hormuz internationally we just want to highlight the european union's effort they've actually proposed sending a naval force to protect merchant ships in the persian gulf what's a bronze view. ron totally rejects that all together because considers the persian gulf its own backyard and its. that is responsible for the safety of shipping there so iran is willing to put together its own naval mission with other neighboring countries like oman the united arab emirates what even saudi arabia but so far that was not excess yet but iran says any other country is sending ships through the persian gulf is a security threat and that's not only for countries like the us great britain or even israel that iran considers enemy countries but if that's also true for european countries that runs this iranians agree here that any other country
8:05 pm
sending ships you know is a security threat to iran to use to race a trooper and iran thank you. let's get a quick check of some other stories making news around the world tensions have spiked in kashmir where a border clash as left 8 soldiers dead that's according to the pakistani army it says that 3 of its soldiers and 5 indian soldiers have been killed kashmir has been on lockdown for 11 days since india provoked the special status of the bridge and sparked an international crisis. a spanish charity rescue ship with some 150 migrants onboard has been allowed to dock on the i'll tell you island of lampedusa this comes amid a legal fight over whether passengers can leave the vessel yesterday an italian court overruled the interior ministry its ban on the ship docking italy's says e.u. countries have agreed to take in the migrants. france has marked the 75th

anniversary of operation dragon known as the other d.-day which liberated southern france from nazi occupation french and named leaders attended the ceremony in recognition of the role of tens of thousands of soldiers from what were then france's african colonies. israel has barred 2 u.s. democratic congresswoman from visiting the country prime minister benjamin netanyahu is office issued a statement claiming. their visit was meant to quote negate the legitimacy of israel now this includes representatives rush to lani who is a palestinian heritage and ohana omar they have both been highly critical of israel's treatment of palestinians and have held for a boycott of his really products the entry ban comes after president donald trump tweeted that the 2 congresswoman hate israel and all jewish people. expect the sound we're joined by tanya kramer in jerusalem and public fully las in
8:07 pm
washington welcome to you both and i'd like to begin with you tanya why has israel decided to bar entry to these 2 congresswoman. this planned visit has been discussed in israel for several weeks now but it also this latest decision is a turnaround of a government decision now the congresswoman here are seen by israeli government officials as being vocal critics of israeli policies against palestinian that's also being supportive of the boycott and divestment movement so the interior ministry tonight actually issued a statement saying just because of their activities boycott activities that they would not be let into the country they can actually do that because israel it mended its and 2 years ago stating that any foreigner coming into the country
8:08 pm
and supporting a recording of the support of a boycott could be banned from entering that this is certainly a very high profile this it and also prime minister netanyahu is quoted saying that it's an area they received which has not been made public. how it's done it is about also there was no visits or scheduled with israeli officials it's not clear that they would have met sora to officials and he also said in that statement that is what harm israel right. what has the reaction been in washington. well the reaction has been coming in fake and now actually in the past few minutes we've just heard from representative omar she was obviously very critical of the decision most notably what is what we're hearing is that what the president donald trump said following the decision he came out and tweeted again saying representatives omar are the face of the democrat party and they hate israel so
8:09 pm
essentially reiterating what he had earlier tweeted now he'll be speaking at a rally later in new hampshire so it'll be interesting to see what he says at that rally up there and later on we've also heard from the senate democratic leaders chuck schumer he said denying entry to members of the united states congress is a sign of weakness not strength it'll only hurt the u.s. israel relationship and support for israel in america we've also heard from the hugh s. house speaker nancy pelosi she says she hopes israel reverses the decision to deny u.s. lawmakers most notably perhaps is that the pro israel group a pact which has been incredibly critical actually recently of both omar and to live in the past said that the congresswoman should nonetheless be allowed to travel to israel also we've noticed as well there has been very little reaction from within the republican party and many commentators here in the united states are saying it's because there's actually
8:10 pm
a lot of division over whether they support trump's tweets or whether they had the support of decision taken by israel and you mentioned it their problem in the president is really one republican who is certainly not been silent about all of this and in fact this whole thing came after he tweeted that israel should be showing would be showing rather great weakness if it allowed these 2 congresswomen into the country tanya did he force netanyahu hand. well the certainly i've been reading here that there has been a lot of pressure by the white house because it came so shortly after this 1st street by president tom it's not the 1st time he has attacked those 2 congress women but also some of the sense that prime minister netanyahu followed. by a president trump i mean the prime minister he is not known for publicly criticizing president try. but the decision is actually use reverse also for the

israeli government here because just a month ago the israeli ambassador to the u.s. one democrat said that in light of respect for us congress would not deny and to to any member of congress that can move it as a huge surprise today but prime minister netanyahu is trying a meeting for being reelected also in a month's time he can certainly have a lot of support for this decision in his writing days but there's also concern here what it means actually for future relations in the long term for the bipartisan nature of the relationship between the u.s. and israel tanya kramer in jerusalem pablo foley las in washington thank you so much to both of you. the captain of a russian passenger plane is being hailed as a hero after he landed his aircraft in a cornfield shortly after takeoff from the moscow airport all on board survived the pilot faction has been compared to the famous landing on the hudson river in new
