it would be really helping me in my place on how to work how am i going to develop more my t.v. asphodel advocacy program for an environment and for peace they're doing in africa her training as well as other youth oriented workshops and discussions are at the focus of this year's assembly. the event which takes place every 5 to 7 years brings together over $800.00 global senior religious leaders youth and women in dialogue with each other and other stakeholders. usurp persons there are vital members of our human community we are all deficient if the youth aren't here but they also need to stand with what we could call the middle the middle aged people and with the older we need all 3 we need them working together neither no one group can replace the other. in a world war 3 is often used to justify violence i get those hoping this initiative

can create more tolerance and learning from one another. we need to understand each other to be able to give to data and to understand each at it we don't need to turn away from them i'm also hoping to meet more people from all of the to what. they had a. discussion where they invited or different faith in a munition so and i hope someday in africa i would be able also to engage young people to speak out for peace. and beyond learning herself i get the hopes that the senior leaders in attendance will have something to take away from the assembly as well i'm hoping. senior leaders leaders we hear our voice and we're going to take action i'm following young people like to take initiative my message to senior really just leader from religion for peace is to trust the young people and give them the possibilities to exploit t.v.

and to contribute in building peace in discovery need to induce what in the months and years to come agatha and the other young people of the assembly will be watching very closely where their suggestions go to. put the report together for us joins us now from the assembly in lindau good morning did you tell us what's happening at the conference today. so today is the wrap up wrap up of a 4 day very packed conference with almost 1000 people coming from across the world and now is really the time for the delegates and the leadership of religions for peace to put down on paper what they have accomplished in these 4 days and so you know as as we mentioned in the 1st days of the conference there are so-called peace consultations going on where religious leaders try to tackle head on the challenges. of conflicts where religion is sometimes the cause of it so for
1:03 pm
example there were peace consultations between senior religious leaders in myanmar and bangladesh currently to. try and see the terms for the return of the refugees but also today there's a panel. to to launch an interfaith reinforced initiatives by the united nations. they want to try to get religious leaders to lobby more for the environment and to put the rain forest as a spiritual as a spiritual cause but perhaps most interesting is that today the leadership of bruges for peace will be passed on to a new newly freshly elected secretary general a woman a muslim who takes over from the current secretary general who's a catholic and a man and has been at the leadership of this organization for 25 years so this is an elected position so definitely a huge sign of faith and a huge sign of changes within the world's largest interfaith alliance ok i have the

delegates have been discussing how to protect places of worship at a time when attacks on sacred sites are on the rise do they come up with any solutions to this problem. so far there hasn't been anything concrete that has come from the assembly on this issue however on the on the 1st day the united nations high representative of the alliance of civilizations spoke here at the conference he directly addressed the recent attacks on the question mosque in new zealand but also the tree of life since a synagogue in the united states and he said you know back back when these attacks happened the united nations secretary general condemned these attacks the general assembly condemned these and said that the united nations is now working on an action plan a concrete action plan whereby governments and places of worship and the united nations would work together on mechanisms to protect these. places of worship from such attacks from a security perspective but obviously throughout the conference he there been many

sort of discussions more on grassroots level trying to. defuse tensions between religious groups but that definitely the high representatives. sort of his commitment. to sharing the command of the united nations to such an initiative. for us of the religious for peace assembly in lindau thanks very much. also dan has started the transition to civilian rule in the changing political climate has prompted plans to kick off the nation's very 1st women's football league it will include 18 clubs the 1st match will take place next month now this marks a big change since the ousting of president omar al bashir earlier this year. a year ago the idea of a women's football league in sudan was far fetched females once seemed to follow their football plain aspirations in the past where without hope.
1:06 pm
before the revolution i could not have imagined myself being a player in a woman's football team or even expected myself to be able to play the sport i've loved there were many restrictions on sudanese women and it was not possible to play football. but now a joint military civilian sovereign council is in power and it's seen as a significant event women are part of the ruling council and measures are being taken to further women's rights and promote sports and the arts. that it began in the past it was difficult for women to play football and there were many complications that prevented them from participating in this activity but now everyone is looking forward to a new reality and has new ambitions now society has become more receptive to this idea and more accepting of the participation of women and all the areas of life by people admission at

a new reality where sudanese women athletes can follow their ambitions. now researchers have taken the very 1st images of the titanic in 14 years and they've been subversive prize by what they saw they say that rust eating bacteria is breaking up the ship faster than previously thought. 4000 meters below the waves the world's most famous ship emerges in the darkness it took 3 years to build a submersible capable of the dive it's pilot recounts the journey into the deep 1st impression it's big it is a big wreck i wasn't fully ready for just how large it was and when it came up on sonar it really stood out and there was a very strong current and visibility was quite poor there so much particulate matter there was just in the water and we have relatively small view ports because

it's a full ocean depths of merciful but eventually got properly oriented it was able to see some of the detail on the bow and eventually i got to the bow and saw it and the most amazing moment came when i was going along the side of the titanic and the bright lights of the submersible the 1st time when they reflected off the portal and came right back it was like the ship was winking at me it was it was really amazing the biggest ship of it's the titanic sank on its maiden voyage in 1912 from southampton down to new york rescue efforts came too late for most passengers and crew in the i.c.c. 1500 people drowned. for we go 5 elephants have been rescued in malaysia after getting trapped in an abandoned illegal mining pool video filmed by malaysia's department of wildlife showing the 3rd gathering as a path as carved for them to climb out to escape rescue operation took about 4

digital infrastructure badly needed but the government coalition just tom spring itself stocks according. to this. switzerland women are taking to the barricades over rampant inequality women in rural areas are especially if. this is you have your business i'm going to have office in berlin welcome global trade conflicts worsening or no deal breakers it looks like here by the day and germany's export heavy economy is paying the price exports have fallen 8 percent last year while industrial production has dropped 5.2 percent last quarter saw the economy shrink for the 1st time in years and should that continue in this quarter the country will find itself in a proper recession and the analysts say now is the time for german government to spend more and give the economy a helping hand but berlin is doing nothing because it could be political suicide for an already damaged coalition. german companies are receiving fewer orders
1:14 pm
exports are down and economic growth is falling accordingly as growth falls dissatisfaction grows many are calling for some monetary stimulus from the government to jumpstart the economy that's where german finance minister all of shows comes in he says berlin could pump up to 50000000000 euros into the economy if needed 1st emulous package. such a stimulus package would not require taking on new debt maintaining current government policy but in the face of low interest rates many economists are calling for germany to take on new debt which ermes debt levels set to fall below 60 percent of g.d.p. this year it will be below the e.u.'s debt ceiling given the country a lot more financial flexibility as it stands the government already plans to invest around $150000000000.00 euros and infrastructure education and digitization in the next 4 years there's no denying that an extra 50000000000 euros would give a welcome boost to the german economy but for now the government is biting its time
1:15 pm
. the big question is why and i'll pass that right on to my colleague michele a political editor here at g.w. news we have why is shows not reaching into the germans german tax coffers which are full of surplus money give the economy a helping hand well in fact he gets that question lost as well and really the concern in the government is that it would send the wrong signal to go back into debt let's just remind us it was after all the black sea or as it's called basically a hold on signing up to new debt is actually part of the german constitution it became part of the constitution part of the financial crisis and i'm going machall back then said look this way you can housewife was right and that's kind of the germans are known as the scots amongst the europeans and not really wanting to go into debt and that these big debts that governments went into also individuals went to was simply wrong so it's very much a symbolic issue not to go into debt at the same time we know that the finance

ministry is currently going through the figures and he's entertaining the idea what kind of structure this new debt for tough if it actually comes to recession here and just briefly let's remind our viewers germany is governed by a coalition of center left social democrats center right christian the members is there unity. well there isn't unity on a lot of issues but the blacks are not going into fresh that is one of the issues that is pretty broad unity certainly between the finance minister who could be seen as a kindred spirit to wolfgang sawyer but whose idea of actually anchoring this into law here in germany it was in the 1st place let's bring in our financial correspondent from from further hope you can join us now comma if you can hear us. there he is doesn't germany can't economy actually need a stimulus or is it healthy enough to reinvigorate itself on its own.
1:17 pm
that is a very good question many businesses here in germany also many economists are convinced that in the past businesses have often profited from hard times because you know when a business cycle comes to an end where you're facing hard times you have to come up with innovative ideas how to find solutions to cope with the situation if you pepper an economy too much it gets complacent but this is the long this is the short term view and this is not why many economists are asking that mr sholes our finance minister gets a bit more creative in using you know the situation and why he should spend more he should spend more on the future or on the long term trends of the economy on our infrastructure on you know the challenges of climate change on digitalisation and stuff like.
