by the blazes as soon as one fires under control the next one breaks out huge areas now resemble under another landscape. will fall if there are as one or 2 big fires we could deal with them better than all the small ones. money shot was a pool says there have been widespread protests since the fire started on friday under international pressure brazil's president both narrow deployed soldiers to the region to fight the places brazil has said it will accept aid from israel and argentina but also now responded shoppy to a pledge of $20000000.00 from t 7 leaders on twitter he accuses french president among them on the call of having a colonialist attitude towards brazil. oh you know it will go to someone gives money without wanting something in return saying why do they have their eye on the amazon what if there was a lot of it going to get

a laugh thousands entering office both narrow has slashed environmental protection in the amazon and a bid to open up the area to industry and spur economic growth thank you let's get more now with daniel cope he's in port of value which is in the brazilian state of or don't you know we saw the report there now it has been among the worst hit by the amazon wildfires a good day to you daniel what's it looking like how's the fight against these wild places coming along. yeah there brian i can tell you that the fight against those fires has been extremely difficult here for firefighters but also for the population as we heard in the report there was 80000 fires in the entire amazones region and we are learning that just since last friday about 1200 new fires have been reported we saw and we have been talking to firefighters here from with the region they have been
11:04 am
telling us that for them it's it's kind of like a it's kind of like a mission that for them is a very hard to manage and we're learning that in many cities also in big cities here like parts of asia with about 500000 people fire fighters have been kind of giving opportunity to manage this situation and let me also tell you brian that all of this of course also affecting the daily lives of people we have been talking to local residents say here they have been sharing with us that because of the bad air up because of the pollution in the air right now because of those fires with them it's hard to breathe a lady was sharing with us that already when she wakes up in the morning as she fusible retire so all of this is affecting also the local people here you have your pollution certainly a big concern for for elderly people where you are for children for the sake you know daniel there's the big question out there reportedly landowners in this area
11:05 am
have themselves been lighting the fires that have turned into these wildfires to clear land for cattle ranching for agriculture that's something that both of our o. the president has been supporting up to now but given the severity of these fires could the president change tack on his approach to these fires could could that situation change. well i personally don't think that this is going to change because also these farmers are some of this big supporters they have been saying that in the past former brazilian president never really paid attention to the interest of those farmers now they are seeing that president bosso not. you know having this difference a strategy that he has been you know supporting basically that those you know farmers you know which a burn their land in order you know to have more space bare for for there and a month so i don't really think that this situation is at the end going to change
11:06 am
because these groups are you know his voters that he will need also in the future ok now both in our own brazil been offered 20000000 from the g 7 that was turned down at the same time both when i was saying that you seven's treating brazil like a colony what's what's been some of the reactions where you are bow to the rejecting of the money and and are calling brazil or treating brazil for like you connie. well the reactions here are actually very divided in the population when you talk to supporters of the now or they do agree they're saying that in the past brazil has been listening a way too much to other countries and that it doesn't work like that when you send money and then brazil you know has to react and now it's also very clear he is saying that you know the amazon region it's the it's the decision off brazil what's going to happen with that and he's not agreeing with
11:07 am
a president who is saying you know that the amazon region basically belongs to the you know to the world population others of course saying that the entire attitude that the entire behavior was when i was 6 a train really risky and you should accept help financially but also you know when you talk about firefighters we talk about firefighter training you know from other countries then you thanks very much for that reporting from port of value there in the brazilian state of a donia right at the epicenter of those amazonian wildfires thanks very much dan. now iran's president hassan rouhani says there will be no talks with us until sanctions against his country are lifted he was speaking a day after u.s. president donald trump open the possibility of a meeting with rouhani if the conditions were right made those remarks at the end of the g. 7 summit in france with host president the manual michael no on the topic of iran
11:08 am
french president to manual mccollum said the 2 leaders had 2 things in common thank you for an addition there are 2 very clear things which are important to us here on must never have a nuclear weapon and this situation should not upset the stability of the region mccollum denied reports that he had not informed the u.s. president before inviting iran's foreign minister to the summit in an effort to save the 2015 year killer deal that i decided to invite as friends. ministers are if so i informed before making it i informed president trump that it was my idea not to involve the united states not to see this is on behalf of you of everybody but to save our friends i think it would be a good idea to ask him to go back and try to negotiate something separately before making when pressed on whether he would be prepared to meet iran's president
11:09 am
hosni trump indicated he would but only when the time was right if the circumstances were correct toward the right i would certainly agree to that but in the meantime. they have to be good players you understand what that means and they can do what they were saying they're going to do because if they do that they're going to be met with really very violent force we have no choice yet. so despite the hugs and handshakes it's unclear where the g 7 host mccaughan succeeded in calming tensions between iran and the u.s. or whether the summit will ease any what was on the world's financial markets. preview now and some of the other stories making news this hour a judge in the u.s. state of oklahoma has ordered drug maker johnson and johnson to pay over half a $1000000000.00 for fueling an opioid epidemic the judge said the company's marketing for the pain killers understated the risk of addiction it's the 1st lawsuit against opioid makers and distributors to go to trial. the spanish

has ordered 34000 euros and compensation for his wife and mother ok what are some of the big concerns where you are in moscow about the possible consequences for russia was to russia with the russian officials be looking at as a result of this ruling. well these rulings from the european court of human rights of course they're always a blow to russia a blow to the reputation of russia and they're an important tool for russian activists russian politicians to kind of get justice on the international stage but these rulings happen quite often politicians and human rights activists often bring complaints to the european court of human rights and russia has a reputation of basically ignoring these verdicts they are one of the leaders in complaints against against russia and also in kind of noncompliance with the
11:14 am
rulings of the court as well and they even have a legislation here in russia to justify that in 2015 the constitutional court here ruled that basically any ruling from the european court of human rights has to comply with the russian constitution which essentially gives russian courts almost a veto against these rulings and almost a right to overrule any judgments that come out of the european court of human rights groups if you did russian president vladimir putin says this is a case that simply boosts anti russian sentiment what are other reactions to the verdict you've been hearing in moscow well the ruling only just happens there haven't been very many reactions yet but i think we can expect with this high profile case which has caused you know over the years a lot of angry statements from offshore adiz their main again not be much of
