a town in the northwest to take part in the 1st gathering of its kind in the nation . welcome to the program. hong kong has seen another weekend of fiery clashes between pro-democracy protesters and police sunday's protests began peacefully with demonstrators taking over a shopping mall but later it all turned violent with one group vandalizing a nearby subway station and setting barricades a place riot police responded with tear gas and multiple arrests. as so often the protests started out peacefully. crowds saying what has become the anthem of the protest movement hillary to hong kong.

i i the atmosphere was largely festive as protesters filled all the free spaces in the shopping mall some folded paper origami birds as a symbol of hope and peace then they produced a chinese flag and began trampling on it in a clear provocation aimed at beijing the sense of anger here is very real. to see even if for a very tired we can't give up our rights a lot of them where entitle to them. to it's evening tempers flared a some protesters began vandalizing a subway station linked to the mall riot police then moved in to clear the building and the confrontation moved out onto the street. once again the police used tear gas to clear the crowds and made a number of arrests the 2 sides have been facing off in nearly 4 months the protest is accused beijing and the hong kong authorities of undermining the city's

democracy while many demonstrators are peaceful others say resorting to violence is the only way to be heard that hope what's etc protesters are using force and clashing with the government both methods of demonstrating are important it's not that one matters more than the other but that the demonstrators were also planning to disrupt travel to hong kong international airport but a massive police presence meant that did not materialize still the protesters of vowing to keep up that fight. let's go live now to correspondent in hong kong can you give us a sense of what's been going on where you are. well at this mall where i was earlier protests have been happening throughout the whole day you we've pretty much seen what happened this is but pretty much what's happening every time now protesters gather somewhere and then throughout for some

time they stay peaceful and then when police arrives. clashes break out sometimes. sparked by protesters provoke asians aimed at the police in this case at the and t.r. system this city's transport system sometimes police threatening to disperse the crowd both sides are extremely clean nerved so. we're seeing pretty much the same playbook every time barry kids tear gas protesters dispersing and reassembling in another place. cheers we've come across some video footage from yesterday which was recently released which reportedly shows pro-democracy demonstrators beating up pro-government demonstrators and we're going to be looking at them in the coming seconds here they are what can you tell us about these incidents where they involve. they

happened yesterday out a place called unit long no you know long is a place that is very not is notorious because in july a white clad man seemingly belonging to trying it's the mafia organisations of hong kong attacked protesters and passengers on trains with sticks beating them up so yes today was a protest remembering this event it was 2 months since it happened the protest asked today started in a mall then people started vandalizing the mall as there were rumors that police were trying to enter then they left police didn't enter why they were in. there and then they clashed on the street and after everything ended police made arrests residents came out there was a shouting match between the police and the residents and remaining protesters
6:06 pm
police fired tear gas and then at the end there was the these incidents now i didn't personally witness them i had been there shortly before but what protesters accuse these 2 men of was that they. assaulted a woman a female reporter that was on the stage and then things pretty quickly can turn ugly country and very violent in this case it was the protesters beating up these men and in other cases it has also been the other way round where residents draw beijing residents in certain areas have been beating up protesters again there's a very very thin tissue of patients in the city often that these incidents when they when both sides face each other so. we have seen several

videos circulating on social media that involve. the beating up of a person by a mob the either way round. where we see those shocking pictures i think we can understand why patience is running out and he is building or in hong kong thank you for that. and now to some of the other stories making news around the world. iran's president has said we had he has warned of insecurity if foreign forces intervene in the gulf region at a military parade route he said iran is ready to defend its borders the american government recently announced it was sending more troops to the gulf in response to a recent attack on saudi oil sites. thousands of people with rainbow colored flags cycled and walked together in vietnam's capital hanoi on sunday to raise the profile and call for equality of the q community in the communist country it was hanoi 8 the pride parade. hundreds of towns and cities around the world have been

taking part in car free day in the french capital paris the shows that he's a was clear of motorized vehicles the event aims to encourage motorists to give up their cars to combat air pollution. british tour operator thomas cook is seeking a last minute rescue deal to avoid financial collapse over half a 1000000 holiday makers are travelling with the company and could be stranded if it fails the company says it is operating is nor normal. it is now in last minute talks for a bailout and reporter jared reed is here he's been following the story how do things stand now look they don't look too good this is an iconic 178 year old british company an icon of tourism around the world for sort of long runs hotels and airlines and resorts but over the last year its share price has dropped by something like 90 percent and long story short at the moment it needs $250000000.00
6:09 pm
in in sort of like a bailout the british government is coming under pressure to the company it's not looking like that's going to happen so it needs some private investment which is also looking a bit shaky how many people are affected so if this company is under basically travel agents will close airlines will be. and the airlines that are in $22000.00 people around the world will be without a job and 600000 travel is currently on holiday in a package holiday with thomas cook will be stranded 300000 of those germans apparently for the british contingent who are stranded overseas the government there has said don't worry you won't be stranded we make sure you get back and they'll be out of people who have booked and can't take the holidays will be out to get their money back through a financial protections game germans won't be as lucky the rules are that they'll have to rely on their insurance to get them harm and to give them that money already though even though the company still exists it's still trading people are running into some pretty tricky situations
6:10 pm
a group of british people in tunisia they paid for their holiday with thomas cook the hotel in tunisia said no we haven't received the money and it wasn't letting them leave until they paid effect twice for the same holiday and this is what one woman had to say about that experience the problem is that we was given this letter last night to say that we should pay this amount of money which translates to about $1000.00 they only pound which is a lot more than the holiday cost and they've stopped coaches calling in the letting people go home because they've not paid its money. so thomas cook has said those people like that woman it has given them the money bags of money that they paid again for the same holiday but clearly making hotels suppliers of tourism very very nervous about what could happen and clearly you know very unsettling for travelers as well you know very chaotic and just tell us though how did thomas cook
6:11 pm
get into this situation well it's these things are very very complex but it's blaming them on a couple of things bookings a down which it says because because of the summer heat wave that we had here it's saying people are waiting to you know book holidays because they're not sure where the bricks it's going. happens there this is making people hold on to their you know thousands of pounds because holidays are expensive it's also facing a lot of online competition these days the internet changed the travel industry enormously we have to keep in the mind that before we start panicking everybody woring them this the company still exists it's still trading people are still on holiday with them we won't find out until later tonight all tomorrow morning when trading opens what's going to happen so don't worry too much just yet ok. thanks for that and we turn now to sports in formula one and there was a joy for ferrari sebastian vettel as he won the singapore grand prix the german

a gathering of twins from around the country 172 sets of twins as well as 6 sets of triplets converge for what organizers say is the 1st event of its kind in greece. double vision or just double the fun for the twins who gathered in the town of tricolor sunday's event was a festival of brotherly and sisterly love at an asia and cats arena fairly organized the event. secondly it's unbelievable that so many turned sexist to see so many tweens of different ages looks a similar diva in those that don't look so similar it's magic oh it's very emotional the sisters asked attendees to wear the same clothes for some participants a similar parents is just the beginning. we can read each other's thoughts even from a distance this happens both in good times and that i can tell wherever my sister is if she's ok if she's emotional if someone has upset her if she's upset all of us
