a camp for displaced people could be an incubator for the terror groups in resurgence. i'm rebecca ritter's welcome to the program. hong kong has seen another weekend of fiery clashes between pro-democracy protesters and police sunday's protests began pace fully with demonstrators taking over a shopping mall but later turned violent with one group vandalizing and thereby subway station and setting barricades ablaze riot police responded with tear gas and made multiple arrests. as so often the protests started out peacefully crowds gathered to sing what has become the anthem of the protest movement glory to hong kong.
8:02 pm
the atmosphere was largely festive as protesters filled all the free spaces in the shopping mall some folded paper origami birds as a symbol of hope and peace then they produced a chinese flag and began trampling on it in a clear provocation aimed at beijing the sense of anger here is very real. to see even a for a very tired we can't give up our rights in law that we're entitle to them. was towards evening tempers flared a some protesters began vandalizing a subway station linked to the mall riot police then moved in to clear the building and the confrontation moved out on to the street. once again the police used tear gas to clear the crowds and made a number of arrests the 2 sides have been facing off in nearly 4 months the protest is accused beijing in the home call authorities of undermining the city's democracy
8:03 pm
while many demonstrators are peaceful others say resorting to violence is the only way to be heard that hope what sort of protestors are using force and clashing with the government both methods of demonstrating are important it's not that one matters more than the other but that the demonstrators were also planning to disrupt travel to hong kong international airport but a massive police presence meant that did not materialize still the protesters are vowing to keep up their fight. and tehran now where the country's president has an rouhani has one of insecurity is a foreign forces intervene in the region the american government recently announced it was sending more troops to the gulf in response to recent attacks on saudi oil sites and a military parade route said iran is ready to defend its borders but the country also says it will present a plan for peace at the u.n. general assembly in the coming week. the high point of what iran calls its sacred

defense week the annual military parade commemorates the country's war with iraq but this year it's also a show of strength for the u.s. and its allies. as washington orders more troops and equipment to the region iran's president hassan rouhani is warning them to stay out of the gulf. that bit don't ya islamic 8 but out we say the east of the world the presence of foreign forces might be problematic and dangerous for the region was that may be dangerous for international waterway sciatica maritime security for oil and that may be dangerous to energy security but how it all could wash out. tensions in the gulf have spiraled since the september 14th strikes on major saudi oil sites the u.s. and saudi arabia have repeatedly blamed be run for the attacks which were claimed by hutu rebels in yemen tehran denies involvement but the saudis say they'll take

action if evidence shows that iran was behind the bombings. you know what i mean and we are certain that the attacks did not come from yemen but north of saudi arabia because investigations will prove that. with that we will release the results to the world to have them and take necessary measures. i mean the escalating rhetoric iran's military says it's ready for combat and for any scenario commanders have threatened a crushing reaction to any aggressive. and take a look now at some of the other news making news around the world. tens of thousands of people have joined a rally calling for a ban on abortions in slovakia abortions are currently allowed up to 24 weeks of pregnancy but parliament is set to begin debating proposals to restrict the procedure later this month. hundreds of towns and cities around the world has been taking part in car for

a day in the french capital paris the famous film sunday's that was cleared of motorized vehicles the event aims to encourage motorists to give up their cars to help combat air pollution. british tour operator thomas cook is seeking a last minute rescue deal to avoid financial collapse over half a 1000000 holidaymakers a travelling with the company and could be stranded if it fails the company says it's operating as normal. and we reported rape has been following the thomas cook story and he joins me now gerard what's the latest what's going on with the company well it's not looking too good this is a company that's 178 years old it's a british travel icon it's got a global presence it's very very well known it runs hotels and airlines and resorts but over the last year its share price has basically collapsed fallen by something like 90 percent and long story short the company now needs around $250000000.00 to stay afloat if one sits asked the british government will it suggested that the
8:07 pm
british government could bail it out it's not looking like that's going to happen and now it needs some private investors to step in and that's also looking a little bit shaky to how many people would be affected eve thomas who does go on for instance if it does go under basically immediately the airlines that runs would collapse like condo which is a german airline $28000.00 people would be without a job and $600000.00 travelers currently on holiday thomas cook in package holidays would basically be stranded $300000.00 of those. germans the british government says if it's to collapse it will say it will bring the brits arm around $150000.00 british people and it has a scheme in place that would cover people who had booked a holiday and then couldn't take it it doesn't seem like the germans are so lucky they would have to rely on their insurers to bring them harm and to and to cover any future losses even though the company hasn't gone and it's important to note
8:08 pm
that people are still running into some fairly unpleasant situations like in tunisia there's a hotel yesterday that said it hadn't received the money from thomas cook and so it wasn't letting people who'd been on holiday there leave the premises until they had paid the bill so in effect they were paying twice for their holiday this is what one woman had to say about that experience the problem is that we was given this letter last night to say that we should pay this amount of money which translates to about $1800.00 pounds which is a lot more than the holiday cost. coach is calling into letting people go home because they cannot pay this morning. so yeah unhappy travel is there the situation is making supply is nervous holidaymakers as well thomas cook has come out today and said we've paid back those people who had to pay again but yeah it's
8:09 pm
not a nice situation to be in not at all when you want to go and relax and then you find it stranded why is thomas cook in this situation there's a couple of fact is one of them is that bookings have fall and it's blaming that on the summer heat wave that we had in europe this year so blaming it on bricks it apparently people are waiting to see if breaks it happens before they decide to part with a lot of money to go on holiday and also online bookings have changed the industry a lot so it's having to face competition from a lot of online. travel agents and what we need to do what. we really need to keep in mind that before we start scaring everybody is that we need to stress the company hasn't gone under it's still operating people are still traveling with thomas cook we won't find out until later tonight or possibly tomorrow morning whether it's going to get a bailout but fingers crossed i just don't book your holiday just yet know if you had a great thanks very much for the update. the our whole refugee camp in kurdish controlled

syria is home to tens of thousands of people that live in cramped conditions with little access to medical care and very poor hygiene most of the residents displaced women and children from the so-called islamic state and many still believe in the caliphates ideology despite the fate of the jihadists there are fears the camp could be an incubator for the islamic states resurgence. these children raised their fingers in a sign of allegiance to the islamic state they lived under the so-called caliph as now they're stranded in a refugee camp in kurdish controlled northern syria which is like the islamic state to return and yes i do the best thing was being able to go to school and we had jihad. is it ok to execute people. yes if they were infidels to. 71 peasant people live in the our whole camp
