masked protesters oh. oh. oh right. hand in hand against the face mask. protesters have frequently formed to human chains in hong kong in recent weeks a peaceful yet potent act of defiance inspired by a human chain 30 years ago that propelled the collapse of the communist soviet union was her gift for. her birthday. today the fury of the protestors is focused on the communist party in beijing and the emergency law invoked by the government in hong kong the time you go to college and the numerous rallies before but i never wore a mask are wearing a mask today not because i want to hide my identity but to express my anger towards this law. when you know i think that the political problems should be

a result politically the government should find solutions instead of imposing more regulations there is an end to mask law now there might be a curfew in the future guy they're not solutions the real issues discontent with the government and that has to be tackled by seamen voting for them when a subway stations or many shops remain closed throughout such a day after friday night's protests ended in clashes hong kong's leader has just to fight the facemask ban by saying her government is only acting to stop the violence . hong kong. it's facing one president it's violent attack the government needs to take drastic measures to say no to violence restore peace and society he said will protect citizens frights to continue this daily lives and freedom not to lowing a small group of writers to astroid bolthole they do a poll why. many protesters disagree blaming the heavy handed tactics used by hong

mood of the buy that we've seen not only last night but in in previous week hounslow been a relatively peaceful day so you follow the human chains the marches through hong kong have remained peaceful so it could of course slip into a violence as the night goes on but a lot of people here it seems a waiting to see what happens next no one really knows how exactly the police are going to enforce that ban on the face must just feel like this is their tipping point at the moment the protesters and police waiting to see if you act. to iraq now and reports are coming in that at least 5 more people have been killed in class . between police and anti-government protesters after a curfew was lifted on saturday morning the fresh an arrest follows days of violent protests that hit the iraqi capital and other cities this week security forces in baghdad opened fire on protesters who have been demonstrating against unemployment poor public services and corruption. shots in iraq's

before being shot dead on thursday. turkey's president to one says his country is preparing to launch a military intervention against kurdish militia in syria's northeast he says the land and air operation will allow displaced syrians to return home but the intervention could also threaten the safe zone agreed upon by turkey and the united states. well it's opening weekend one of the most anticipated movies of the fall season the movie joker is based on the batman comic book book villain. joker. moviegoers in the u.s. line up to see the joker they'll be greeted by increased security that's because
7:09 pm
the film based on a comic villain is prompting fears of real life violence and the reporter carl nice nasmyth adroitness shed a little light on the situation what are people afraid of here yeah i mean police security agencies in the u.s. they're on high alert that includes even the f.b.i. warning about what they're seeing online so there's been some threatening posts on social media regarding quote unspecific mass shootings and those are linked to the opening of joker and these threats are being taken very seriously actually in new york city you can see the level of security at the premier there the canine team with bomb sniffing dogs heavily armed security people there as well in manhattan many theaters are. cross the country nic they're also banning any sort of costume so you don't want to show up with any masks wearing any capes no fake weapons they simply won't let you into the theater if you're dressed up as a comic book villain or even a hero earlier this week in the los angeles area a movie theater was shut down because of

a threat that was deemed to be credible in a sense reopened but there was a big security presence at that theater for the entire weekend the specific concern across the country really with this movie is something that they're calling lone offender violence so that's a single person who is armed and acting alone fortunately so far there have been no incidents so that's good news the crowds have not stayed away either so far joker has set a new box office record on its opening night ok it seems like there's nothing but comic book movies these days what is it in particular about this movie that has authorities so concerned yeah it could be the violence right mysie violent movies all the time you see the comic book movies all the time you know but a lot of people are saying is it's really more about the way that the movie treats the main character it's a very sympathetic to this character i mean the joker in the sense is the hero he's troubled he's isolated he's bullied he's really rejected by society until he turns to violence to get his revenge and that is something that unfortunately rings far

too true for some people these days so the worry is that someone might try to essentially copy what they see in the joker adding to those concerns i mean there has been violence at batman movie premiers in the past you probably remember in 2012 colorado a gunman opened fire in a movie theater there that was at the opening of the dark knight rises another batman movie also features the joker that was on the heath ledger 12 people were killed 70 people injured so that was a big mass shooting in fact that same movie theater is not taking any chances this time around they will not be showing the joker this weekend but is the particular shooting in colorado casting a shadow over the release of this movie i mean it is for. some in particular the family members of some of those victims of that shooting they've actually sent a letter to the c.e.o. of warner brothers they're asking the movie studio to support gun control measures in the u.s. and this is what they said in the letter you see it here they're expressing concern about the movie and they're asking in part for an end to political contributions to
7:12 pm
pro gun politicians and for more funding for anti gun violence programs warner brothers for their part they've responded they said quote it believes that one of the functions of storytelling is to provoke difficult conversations around complex issues and that the film and the character not endorsement of real world violence the film opening now in the u.s. opens next week here in germany ok. thanks for that 3. sports now and there have been complaints of empty seats at the world athletics championships in doha but that was not a worry on day 81 local athlete stole the show with his high flying act attracting the biggest crowd yet at the competition. for once in doha a packed house crowd. has something to celebrate he to go in the high jump the 1st guitar retards of the championships. tournament an
