for giving the world economy a boost well a couple of people in washington could provide some help u.s. and chinese officials are meeting today to commence their talks over reaching a comprehensive trade deal about one and a have years of the trade war which u.s. president trump called good and easy to win have been fought at various stages of escalation increasingly taking its toll on global growth now both sides are taking another shot at resolving the dispute. it's 13. once again the question on everyone's mind is will they or won't they make a deal after a 15 month conflict that seen both sides impose hundreds of billions of dollars worth of tyrants the stakes are high. america does not love imposing turbos in fact we would prefer not to use them but after years of

discussions the no action tariffs are finally forcing a number of the our trading partners that had taken advantage of us to pay attention to our concerns both sides made some concessions in advance beijing rolled back tires on u.s. pork and soybeans and in response the united states agreed to postpone the next test of tyrus on china until the middle of this month but then this week washington made a surprise move that calls consternation in beijing when it added $28.00 chinese firms it said were implicated in abusing the human rights of muslim minorities to a trade blacklist. she don't commit no such thing as the so-called human rights issue that the u.s. side claimed it's nothing but an excuse created by the u.s. to interfere in china's internal affairs that you. like the tone on both sides less than conciliatory the odds of reaching agreement on thorny issues like intellectual

property don't appear too favorable. let's talk more about this issue with. business rob the backdrop for these talks could hardly be more challenging we heard about the blacklisting of chinese companies by the u.s. and there's a spat between beijing and the north american pro basketball league but allegedly this issues are not supposed to impact the talks is there any indication that this is plausible yes or the united states says is that it keeps human rights issues such as the jang and the the blacklisting of these 28 companies completely separate from economic. issues so you say this is got nothing to do with these talks coming up however the timing of this blacklisting does make that. perhaps implausible and certainly the chinese have taken it as being linked in some way they've said that as a result of what's happened this week particularly blacklisting that there has been

a lot of goodwill between the 2 sides and they for their part have lowered their expectations for these talks identifying reading too much into it but they've moved forward the date on which they're actually going to end these talks they have been due so they're leaving early on saturday they're leaving on friday nights now so that's perhaps not an indication that they're expecting to stick around for a big deal nevertheless there has been news that china would be open at least a partial deal what are we to make of the yeah i mean the fact that these talks have been called off before they've begun to suggest that there is. some optimism of some sort of agreement coming up because they have been caught off in the past was looking like the most likely arrangement that could come out of this meeting is some sort of currency packed in the united states and china for a long time the u.s. has accused beijing of manipulating its currency to give it an advantage over competitors like the united states that would come out of a cost to beijing in turn we expect that the u.s.

would perspire in a tariffs increase that's due to take place next tuesday $250000000000.00 of chinese imports and you'd have that tiresome trieste from 25 percent to 30 percent so expect that they'll be a sort of tit for tat on that and that we may well see an agreement along those lines with currency pact. oh we going to see progress on the big issues well we've had the vice at the deputies meeting ahead of this meeting to sort of lay the groundwork there doesn't seem to have been a great deal of progress on those big issues so expect we'll have a sort of smaller deal maybe agrees with an agreement to look at the bigger picture later on of europe briefly is there any way of estimating how much this trade war that has been going on for over a year is costing the world you know the impact is so broad ranging that it would be some incredible math required but it seems like the i.m.f. have done that incredible mass for as they've estimated that it's going to cost the world economy $700000000000.00 by the end of this year the u.s.

china trades i mean we've seen the impact on the chinese economy at least it's slowing down it is fastest rate the 27 is so 13th round of talks a lot of people having that be the lucky ones robots from the daily business thank you so much for now as we've heard the protractor to terror of war between the u.s. and china has increasingly been hampering economic growth around the globe things have also taken a turn for the worse in the euro zone a region that has been having difficulty clawing its way back into growth territory as it is now euro zone officials are putting pressure on germany and the netherlands to spend their way out of the economic slowdown and thereby offering a leg up to the entire block. economic growth is slowing down in the e.u. but some countries are doing much better than others the e.u. says member states with budget surpluses should do more to prop up the block economy. it was here the peak they are countries like germany and the netherlands
