well as you said i'm in the turkish border town all search today which is about 10 kilometers away from the syrian border where this turkish military operation is taking place right now now the security situation here in the border area on the turkish side as well is very tense and there have been warnings for journalists to so that's why we moved a little further away today now the turkish defense ministry says that the turkish army and its allies have captured the syrian border town address and i in northeast syria this is a city of about 50000 people that's an estimation here they have been trying to do so in the past days by in circling the city and now at that has been and that has been that's important to mention one of the 1st main targets now they have apparently managed to do so we saw some video footage all of back syrian opposition

fighters inside the industrial area overdress ion and we know that's in the city center so they are inside the city right now kurdish forces have earlier denied that the turkish army's allies have captured that but it seems right now clashes that are continuing so that's on the syrian side how is this operation affecting people on the on the turkish side where you are. well the atmosphere here is very tense there have been a number of reprisal attacks from the syrian side moore says rockets was sent over into turkish border towns there have been several civilian casualties here on the turkish side we just heard yesterday went to a village very close by where people had a funeral for 2 people who were killed in an attack yesterday people were crying they were desperate it was really painful to watch these scenes and we've also talked to people here in the search which is as i mentioned also very close to the

syrian border let's listen to what they had to say. to 3 people are caught in the middle why are we fighting in syria and our people here on the turkish side suffer to just yesterday 2 or 3 people died in a place very close to here it's a pity what is this fight for. this is our government's fault they got us into this very bad situation why did they do this what's it all for nothing . you know. from the help our soldiers and make their mission easy to help our state. now yulia along with those concerns there are some serious worries about those captured islamic state fighters escaping from kurdish presence. well that's true and the kurdish forces there have been warning about this from the very beginning they are saying basically you know if we have busy defending this

area against a turkish military assault we won't have time to deal with the captured isis fighters they are holding isis fighters in makeshift prisons and the families and children of these fighters in camps so huge come a couple of tens of thousands of people and there have been some very warring reports about apparent breakout at times not everything that's coming from the cutter's site there is something that we can independently confirm by all accounts from what we hear from the other side of the border the situation in these camps right now seems to be pretty chaotic now what about the 3rd country involved here the united states it's been warning about severe economic sanctions how are those threats being received. well these are the threats coming from washington then there has also been international criticism from the european union the nato also. turkey to show restraint now the turkish government
5:09 pm
is absolutely not happy about this criticism they say this is a legitimate security operation we are defending national security here against a terrorism threat so they don't want to hear criticism they expect solidarity from their international partners and that's my impression here as well on the turkish side of the border criticism is something that is not being tolerated that's something nobody one store here that's why people we're talking to are very careful in what they tell us. correspondent on with the latest between turkey and syria thanks very much. now let's take a look at some of the other stories making news around the world thousands of pro kurdish marchers in german cities have taken to the streets to protest the turkish assault in northern syria at least 10000 people demonstrated in cologne alone calling for an end to the offensive. and thousands of protesters have marched yet

becoming the 1st person to break the 2 hour barrier for the marathon complete to be specially designed course in vienna in a time of one hour 59 minutes and 40 seconds but the feat won't count as an official world record because of certain strategies used including the way that could show be was paced spike that the kenyan says he hopes his efforts will inspire others to run faster. for one thing tomorrow is to in sport. before it took another 6 to 6 to 3 hours. after i had just come on. you know many people to tell you mind is limited to it i'm expecting more of the abuse.
5:13 pm
amazing feat there and e.w. sports reporter head of floor is joining me now in studio with more on that i mean tell me about this basically a race against time yeah i mean running a marathon itself it's already a feat but to be able to do it in their 2 hours is just functors it's ridiculous amazing and really amazing to see somebody do it to put things into perspective imagine running 100 meter dash but you're doing it in 17 seconds continuously $420.00 times it's just pretty much breaking a barrier for humanity here. that is similar to the impact of the moon when he has had so it is groundbreaking when it comes to the sport. well look there's some reasons why this is not an official world record right and he did run under under the 2 hour mark but he had what you had pacemakers he had some sort of laser helping him tell us more about about the way this race was that i think this race was not a competition the race was a challenge created by some of his sponsors so it's a bit of a publicity stunt so in many ways it was engineered to a tee for him to be able to break that 2 hour mark as simple as his water he was
5:14 pm
given the water in the normal marathon you have to go pick up a water bottle from probably a table or just the side of the road he just kept on running and stayed focused on just going straight he would get his water delivered to him but not only that there was a car in front of him that would shoot lasers so he would be able to see exactly where he had to be in order to break that mark there was also $41.00 pacemakers that ran along with him so this pacemakers will go in and now and what's important about it is they create some sort of wind resistance in order for him to be able to do that . was really flat so he was everything was just plan directly for the. normal race conditions of other other runners you don't have all this help do you think you could be able to repeat that kind of feat i mean your stunts are not if you tell that to those millions of kenyans we just saw right now they won't care if he's the guy that holds the record right now for the official war record so if
5:15 pm
anybody's going to be able to do it it's going to be in he is the guy that he focus he said he focused more of his training not only physically but this time mentally so if anybody's going to be able to do that any time soon is going to be him will probably have to wait see if that will happen in an official race but is he going to give a try he hasn't he hasn't said yet but we'll see what did under those conditions we'll see if he can do it in a quote unquote real marathon. florists thanks very much. watching the daily news live from berlin more news of the top male. and i'm game on with the brand new b.m.w. in the bottom of the post it's personal it's divisive it's about topics that affect us all live under functional climate change and the return of live only green fields check out.
