well as well as myself so it's all about energy ok let's take a look this is from an exhibition you did in france is called constellation scores . ok so that was a 3 d. lithograph collage obviously look different with the glasses or you had on and it would take you were reading it like a music score very much of the graphic score in a graphic score tradition so it's something i enjoy to do and for this particular set of works the 3 d. there's been so much done with print work and lithography and these things i was

trying to figure out a way to pull pull the stuff off the wall without doing the actually pulling it off the wall with theme in your one theme in your work is this idea of synesthesia the writer senses bleeding into each other can you hear your pictures i mean the usually i don't have trick i don't have said caesar but i've been working for years through the mel this but you've lived in brazil for 7 years while you were there you added some rain forest sounds internews and you also add in a lot of computer sounds to the dimensions let's have another stuart was in syria are you playing with a group called the south paolo underground. so

you lived in sao paolo you've lived in chicago for the last years there you've been living and a small isolated town in the texas desert is called marfa and this is not your average texas town is it not it is the town basically you know that was the military for a while when the war was over. behavior and disrepair and one of my favorite artists of all time donald judd the writer falls into the minimalist category of artists i guess for some people here he had a vision of having permanent installation of his works light. minded works so his r. and b. are from there really pulled me into this small town and i played a chicago underground do a show there 10 years ago and just fell all over the place now your new albums are just brought out a trilogy of new albums called the marfa trilogy how does living in a place like marfa texas in the middle of nowhere i think the nearest airport is 3

hours away how does that influence your work in these albums but what's so dynamic about the area not only is that it in the middle of the desert close to the mexican border. it's the dynamic of the of the town itself with with the artists. visually literature poetry books. of film it's a very dynamic community this way and it's always somebody coming to town in a residency format or something else and we're showing something that's just that's an easy and very briefly i believe you're starting you're trying to start of more of a music scene there since there's such a big visual arts you know we're going to few things that we started from called the desert encrypts which we did last year and that's one of the one of the new releases for this year this year we did desert encrypts 2 which included our chad teller on drums fantastic drummer from the chicago underground and yonsei warner from here in berlin and rosa barber also just 2 artists from here and we're very

especially those who've lived under oppressive regimes and the days leading up to the 30th anniversary of the fall of the berlin wall we're hearing stories from artists who were there today we're going to hear from the lithuanian punk rocker some of us who happened to be visiting east berlin on that night november the 9th 1989 we know right from the. with all just around the big mess so many people this. shouting something we go from the to the from the bus and asking people what's happened what's what's this is miss her and they told us they did the birdmen this broken the wall has broken they will free you free. for 41 years germany it was a divided country from 1061 until 1989 a war even split into the western part was part of democratic west germany the east

the party going to communist east german. other eastern bloc countries weren't free either the soviet union had the baltic states. and. by the late 1980 s. opposition to the soviet occupation was growing. better known as sam and his band. lithuanian independence and they were in berlin when the war. broke and this was a symbol for the freedom it is was a symbol for the us we can do it to. the fanfics was founded in 1987 the lyrics of the songs criticized the soviet occupation taking artistic liberties they didn't actually have. made illegal. you need.

to. say ok. you. hired me some of us had to interrupt getting his degree and served for 2 years in the soviet army by the time he returned to lithuania the restructuring perestroika had begun people enjoyed more freedom in 1908 their music festival was held in the palace of concerts and sports. performed here. the fall of the berlin wall strengthened the fight for independence in the baltic states of estonia latvia and lithuania this struggle came to be known as the singing revolution at the lithuanian parliament barricade and the museum full of photos service reminders of that critical era and big part of it.

in 1990 declared its independence. the following january the soviets sent in troops they seized this 1st house for instance 14 civilians were killed. when russian troops is coming here i remember the tanks. and the soldiers and the people standing and we play here and there who brought you seeing. and try to keep this from that this building free. in the end the people prevailed and lithuania got its independence. my life i want to be our artist and when the the the walls broken the berlin wall is broken and singing the revolution comes on well we becomes the we're free now i feel. exactly 11 to feel i can speak what i want i can sing what i want.
