this is deja vu news live from berlin authorities in delhi declare a public health emergency as a small reaches record levels residents of the indian capital say the pollution is unbearable as schools are closed and half the city's cars are banned also coming up . as germany prepares to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the fall of the berlin wall we look at how the nation's capital has changed in the last 3 decades.
10:01 am
nick spicer welcome to the program the indian government is being forced to take radical steps to cut air pollution in the capital delhi the move comes as smog reaches levels harmful to human health schools have been closed in half the city's cars are being bad and each day residents are also being told to stay indoors. that's not fargo obscuring delis wide avenues but a fixed soup of pension exhaust industrial emissions and wood smoke even the sun struggled to burn through the murk. much of the smoke comes from cultural areas upwind from the city where farmers burn the stubble on their fields after the harvest. but i think it will we can't decrease the smoke from stubble burning today because it is already spread but we can at least reduce sources of pollution within
10:02 am
the city like other cities we have to cut vehicle pollution intelli for ourselves and our children if we do aren't even rationing for the next 10 days than delhi's own pollution sources will be slashed. traffic was lighter than usual on monday as the odd even system took effect motor vehicles with number plates ending with odd numbers were banned from the roads on tuesday it'll be vehicles with even numbers that stay parked but critics say that's not enough. of course it's ineffective in dealing with a pollution as an as an issue you know if evolution was solely due to the regular traffic then this would be a solution right now it cannot be a solution because more today's private transport has a very small shed in the whole. there's growing frustration at the government's failure to address the issue when a group of protesters accuse the government of scapegoating farmers who live outside the city instead of taking meaningful steps in the city. and joining us

now from delhi is our correspondent nischelle jaiswal. you live and work in delhi we can see the sky behind you it looks like a white piece of paper how are you experiencing the smog. ok it looks like we may have lost mr there will come back to when we can later in the day announce a big news from the world of sport german football champions buyer nick have fired their coach nico coached he led darren unit to the german league title last season but after the team lost 5 to one to frankfurt on saturday byron's board gave coach the pink slip this season the team has dropped to 4th place in the book is that. we are joined now by lima tucky from g.w. sport. i thought sports was win some lose some he's fired after one game.
10:04 am
in sports sports has tipping points and the 51 humiliating loss against frank foote was a tipping point it was the last straw for nico but we've been building up to this moment for some time now there were signs for example in their performances against welcome in the german cup just slightly edging by the side in the champions league against an impi cause and of course by and dropping points to smaller teams out. in the bonus me and at the main argument against kovacs was that he really wasn't improving this team so the same problems as we saw this year and they remained unresolved like the lack of c. billy d. the lack of an identity that he often doesn't have a plan b. he doesn't have a solution when the going gets tough and of course it also doesn't help that we have one of that by and nick have one of the worst defensive records since the time
10:05 am
of year in klinsmann and that was 11 years ago oks are past league 10 now is it safe to say that bargain is in crisis but by and munich anything below spot number one is always a crisis so you know they standard is just so incredibly high but the table iced i wouldn't really give up on them because the table is so tight we just have 4 points that separate 1st place and 4th place and of course but overall i would say that by and munich that their problems ahd deeper than just nico cole back and some of the past have also hinted at that let's take a look. humiliating defeat on saturday against his old club track frankfurt it was simply too much by your munich bosses who parted ways with the coach on sunday night. was supposed to run until the middle of 2021. been with the very end. and after
10:06 am
a shaky start. season but recent weeks have seen inconsistent results and discord within the team after the frankfurt debacle. this is what has happened is not a fluke if you saw the cup i mean ball from last week and with what has happened isn't really a big surprise to me it's from the reasonable arsenal lawsuit but it can't just be blamed on getting a red card early in the guy. you want to consummate nothing worked out. so now we are in a situation which we have to confront and that's what we were going through as i was another we will have to analyze things and talk about it but of course we have to change something i'm even covets himself saw the need for improvement before learning of his sacking. videos of mindless we shouldn't be losing $51.00 what we have to grasp is that sure was a man less is going to be more difficult to win this is over something like that should never happen. now those same worries will be inherited by kovacs his

successor in the hot seat at. her back now of course with the limited talking from good of the sports so coaches out whose it was all their several names making the rounds right now starting off with joe is a marine you know we know how successful he is but the big question is is his personality perhaps a bit too talk sake fought by a new name then we have mocked. and he of course is the problem the language by and then he preferred german speaking coach as he can't speak german then we have also know he does speak german but the question is is he will he come out of retirement is he the right fit in the long term we also have a 10 hot from who was the coach at i.x. and we saw how incredible and a run he made last year in the champions league but of course he won't be available until the sama and then we also have fun nick and we also see what he has done at leipsic how incredible he's been for the club but i don't know if they will
10:08 am
necessarily get along with all these ego and big personalities and buy a new make but for the time being interim coach is a flake and he was. also at the moment by and the next assistant coach and most of us probably remember him as the assistant coach to akim live in germany back in 24000 when they won the world cup in brazil ok now your estimation can buy or stay here it's. uncertain times you know we see how up and down into the entire when disease is this season i say i wouldn't bet my money on it i say wait and see you cuz bye and right now on no going a transition period both on and off the few on the field with the vacuum that the likes of rebury and robin have have left behind finding play s. right now who are really playing on their potential aside from perhaps robert naiman doffs can then of course off the field in the top management position early
10:09 am
here in his will also leave later this month so there's a big transition period coming up by in munich so uncertain times ok thanks for that i don't usually mottaki sports. and we have communication with our correspondent in delhi minissha jaiswal for that story on smog in delhi a nonissue you live in work in the indian capital the sky behind you looks like a white sheet of paper how are you experiencing this small what's it like to be living in delhi. well nick as i was seeing if i had to look for a silver lining around this cloud of smoke today it is better than the weekend but the egg quality index does read hazardous it is and an emergency is the head of the motion seat of the government has declared and so why bring in the smoke as a constant reminder because you can feel it in your choice you can feel it in your nose it smells of its mouth burnt the eskimos burnt and you know a few years ago and makeup people would you would not normally see people betting
10:10 am
mosques only was it goes to the city would be very mosques but now the smallest common across the city schools have been closed down people have but the government has said that we should not be taking advantage of this school oh rather than going out for walks and dogs because that is going to be more harmful to our has than staying put and once again you can feel that the temperature is about $28.00 degrees of this is not formed this is not small this is just smoke even residents of bendy including me wondering what we are doing in the city for yet another winter. and what are the main causes of smog in delhi in india. well look it's a combination of factors that as of course industrial pollution that is a little could be produced in. and that have been attempts to address that loft if you will was started bonding in the neighboring states a job that's the even thought that has shifted.

and we seem to have unfortunately lost again will be coming back to her later in the day. we're going to turn now to some of the other stories making news around the world dozens of iraqi protesters have attacked the iranian consulate in the city of karbala they are angry with the run for its ties to iraq's shiite majority government which they accuse of corruption and failing to provide reliable services such as electricity and water. saudi arabia has approved an initial public offering for the state oil giant around the listing on the riyadh stock exchange could make around co the world's most valuable traded company worth well over a trillion dollars. and mcdonald's c.e.o. steve easterbrook is out of a job after having had a consensual relationship with an employee in a statement the company's board said he violated company policy and showed poor
