we'll get the real knives out in just a moment and also get the goods on these stories. in times of artificial intelligence and virtual reality term an artist clément explores what it means to be human in our digitally dominated age and. she's been on stage since she was a kid but now a polish based sensation can go which is shaking up the jazz scene and very coolly bringing her 4 strings into the spotlight. and we're in for some fun with this $19.00 sout pays homage to the golden age of whodunit films agatha christie the director ryan johnson's brilliant trick is to bring the whole thing into the modern age and set it squarely in the trump era little more than its share of punches of america's gaping social political divide while the dynamite cast simply has a field day with it's starting. to slowly if you've heard this one

before a wealthy crime writer celebrating his 85th birthday with this is a strange family then murder most foul. everyone's a suspect is a classic agatha christie style story. almost as. the party pre my dad's death. it's a great work area director ryan johnson and his star studded cast obviously had a ball with this modern day whodunit. you know the film is set in the trump era. the clam like everyone and us family on thanksgiving these days fights over issues of immigration and white privilege. it's not an antitrust movie and it's not a proton. it is

a family conversation about the issues that are plaguing our country i think when stops but at its heart out is a rollicking twisty thriller that never lets its politics get in the way of entertainment detect or in the way of a good one liner. is gross of course it's what is this what is a right mr drysdale. c s i k f c. i love that run through my head to get there tailor made for thanksgiving viewing scott rush for joining me in the studio welcome and whodunit is a genre it seems to me we do we don't see it very often on screen these days yeah that's true at least not on the big screen i mean we had did i get these are an express a couple of years ago but that was more of a nostalgia piece this is really a modern day take on the whodunit genre and and it's a big challenge really key because the the john has been done to death on television i mean c s i which they could hear it sort of killed the the movie mystery star ok so does ryan johnson manage to pull it off yet tries and i think he
6:48 pm
does i mean what's what's what's fun about this is he obviously loves the genre and he really is this is really a tribute to these the act the christie films of the 1970 s. you know the with peter used an off and so on and which were always really fun and always had a laugh out of the whole thing will be incredibly well plotted mysteries but in this film as well it has a lot to do with the cast which is just a articular it was amazing here is that there's so many them are playing against type i mean it's great to see daniel. craig not being james von brunn but just your comedic character he has he plays the detective him easily named ben while blow and click southern accent which almost literally sounds as if you see the scenery but he's one of many i mean toni collette is phenomenal you've got you've got jamie lee curtis you've got one after the other all with incredibly sharp performances of that really bring out the this whole film and make it make a child make the whole sort of political aspects of the film which are they are sort of float by it's just one you know half an hour or an hour and

a half of it pertains to this the meat to it but it but it's definitely bringing out its last and there's a relatively new faces cuban actress and out of her yeah this is her she's probably the one face that people don't know from this amazing cast of she was in the blade runner sequel last year so she you might have not seen her from that but here she plays the maid and she's sort of being the good guy you know she's beautiful a good question basically the the watson to the homes of daniel craig. and she's an incredible film. character in this film because she's the only sort of warm heart in the center of the film amongst all these sort of white privilege and quite horrible rich characters and we're going to be seeing a lot more of her she's going to be in the new james bond film alongside daniel craig how exciting so i'm thinking very quickly that this gets a thumbs up where we can go yeah if you if you're a fan of murder mysteries definitely but even if you just want an hour and a half with your family and not fighting for an hour and

a half on thanksgiving this is the perfect film for that ok well we definitely look forward to catching that one that's going to be one on my ever lengthening list and thanks for bringing us the extra dough on that one scott roxboro. well she is only 32 years old but luisa clément is making her mark as a digital artist as a long time student of world famous photographer and i asked her focus is on the body and how it is ultimately made anonymous by technology she currently has a solo exhibition on in auckland where her photos videos sculptures and installations raise questions about our identity in a digital has for. aesthetic beguiling and confusing luisa clements work asks the question of where we are right now still in reality or in a virtual world and what defines people in the digitally.
6:51 pm
the artist gets her inspiration in city centers where she takes snapshots with her cell phone camera mostly a faceless shop window dummies she photographs shapes and abstractions a reference to the digitalisation that's changing daily life. that's been for a month because of of course there are changes in terminology conventions of speech forms of speech interpersonal relations always have had something to do with localization but with digital is a sound space is no longer so directly defined and yet. where does the human body end and the digital self begin 1st series heads luisa claimants assemble cell phone photos into a series of portraits of mannequins. in this wordless way she demonstrates the loss of personality in modern society.
6:52 pm
but cutting yourself off from real surroundings can be done in analog too like with new. good sunday. the human disappears and it's unclear whether there's anything behind the reflection covering some reflection symbolizing an imaginary world. mimic have a facial expression which have a lot to do with communication and we generally get a lot of information through eye contact if someone looks away if they're totally or bored because we now communicate so much through whatsapp through instagram facebook telegram with whatever their local allies we no longer have the real essence of a conversation and of course it's much easier now to dip in and out of a conversation and ultimately a commitment and that's what i find so interesting about the change taking place in society better for about one with everything wonderful and something new.
6:53 pm
disciple works mannequins and avatars and luisa claimants photographs and videos are loud and aggressive her work makes the man machine system seem beautifully unsettling. i can see that this digital existence these avatars that we're currently building on is something highly abstract art. if i can simply depict myself in the digital world by leaving out all my flaws and quirks if you love it. so there's a kind of abstraction that's taking place from the form from abstracts on the stock or not hello i'm here to meet some other box and you with this roundtable i am but 01 luisa claimants ideas are clearly hitting a nerve several international museums have started acquiring her work. incredibly prolific well

her 4th album. she's considered a rare talent on the electric bass i'm one of few women playing an instrument typically associated with men. her father taught her to play but she's had to teach herself quite a lot to smile. like whatever you want but you have to practice to do it. in a musical family near the city of poland she started playing bass at the age of 12 and her 1st gigs where with the family's band. later she became a soner artist with her own band but she doesn't sing. only for fun. and i hope my bass with me and this is my voice.
