you just are currently having dinner and hammering out the details of what will will be a final declaration and it'll be really interesting to see what is in that declaration to what extent will it be able to resolve this conflict potentially to revive the peace accord which basically is already has already all the ingredients you would need to result in the conflict but what you really need is a choreography which element comes 1st it's clear that a cease fire as to stand 1st and currently in ukraine we have a fragile cease fire then follows the withdrawal of heavy arms about the question is then will we have elections 1st and then ukraine regaining its territory or the other way round that is where a russians and ukrainians are at loggerheads and so it really is premature to talk about expectations of any significant breakthrough would you agree

absolutely but we are quite far away i would say from from a real breakthrough but we look it took a mere 3 and a half years for this meeting to take place that the french president has put quite a bit of leg work into a brokering a meeting like this with together with the german chancellor angela merkel it took a lot of convincing and there are some positive signs however there is a new president in ukraine with president selenski and there's been a prisoner swap there is this french child ceasefire which we have at the moment so some some positive signs up on which you can build here in paris but none of that is guaranteed and this is the 1st meeting between these 2 presidents ukraine's olinsky and russian president vladimir putin who is holding the cards year.

that's an interesting question brant because of course on the one hand you have an absolute newcomer to political bargaining and that is the ukrainian president selenski and then you have the heavyweight if you want to when it comes to political bargaining and that is flooding near putin or what do you do you have to acknowledge objectively is that there is a lot more pressure on the ukrainian representative here the ukrainian leader because he is really walking a tight rope on the one hand he won support for his presidency on the back of promises to end this war. on the other hand many people in ukraine have gone to the streets on sunday saying don't sell us out you know don't give in by all means do bring us that peace but but. don't don't let yourself be. forced into any compromises that later we could regret and what about the other 2 leaders at the table i'm talking about french president jacques wrong german
