crane scandal republicans have been very quick to react to this in fact many have said that it was in fact the democrats who have abused their power and in fact were obstructing congress president trump came out on twitter and he said that it was a witch once again now the next stage in this process is the house of representatives which is controlled by the democrats and is expected to vote on these articles of impeachment possibly next week it is expected to come before christmas so that everything is wrapped up before it passes on to the senate where a trial will take place early in 2020. well here's a check now of some of the other stories making news around the world at least 6 people including one police officer were killed in an hour's long gun battle in the u.s. state of new jersey the police officer was shot dead near a cemetery 2 suspects then fled to

o'brien's day is the final day of campaigning in britain's general election and as party leader scramble to get their message out one last opinion poll as the conservatives ahead it shows the tories on course for a majority of seats in the u.k. parliament the survey conducted by you gov polling predicts prime minister forced johnson will have a narrow majority of about $28.00 seats but that lead is smaller than polling indicated last month with jeremy corbyn the leader of the opposition labor party closing the gap on johnson closer say the brains of outcomes are still possible including a hung parliament. and that dwindling lead was perhaps on johnson's mind as he addressed supporters at an election rally in manchester on tuesday it will because this is a tight fight we've got to get out there go out from this place here much like and spread the word spread the word about how hard this election could be about the
6:08 am
risks that this country faces we must get are you joining me now for more on the upcoming u.k. election is the reporter jonathan will share a 1st of all let's go back now to that poll i mean just give us a few more details because really depending on how you look at this there's maybe good news for labor and the conservatives yes that's right it's the final poll before election day it's about the number of seats so it's really about who gets into the house of commons it's not about the percentage of votes the conservative party as you say a getting a modest majority of 28 seats at least the polls predicting but less than 2 weeks ago the same polling organization predicted they would get 68 seats so we should take this with a pinch of salt polls polls and they're just predictions but this polling in 2017 the same type of polling same model was in fact accurate so it might be quite good indication of what's about to happen the main story is the tories will get a majority in parliament but the other story is the gap is narrowing tween labor
6:09 am
and the conservatives labor now are the polls in 2017 doing the same again it seems and so the conservative may have a lead at least according to this polling but that lead slipping i mean what's behind maybe a surge in the polls for labor well this campaign for the conservatives has been all about brings it but for labor it's very much been about the national health service in the u.k. and the tories are trying to win late the seats labor strongholds talking about briggs but labor have come in and they're relentlessly focusing on the national health service and that's because for the conservatives the national health service is seen as their weak point especially from the laid. supporters or potential labor supporters i just want to give you an example from the campaign there was a photo that went viral of a young boy that was sleeping on the floor of a hospital in the u.k. it was taken by his mother and that photo was shown to boris johnson in a t.v. interview and he didn't want to engage in the topic and he took the journalist's
6:10 am
phone and put it in his pocket and this was seen as a real gaffe and this is seen as something really really good for labor but what's really interesting is off the woods there was a lot of disinformation about this photo with it was whether it was really real no but the hospital came out of formally apologized suggesting in fact it was real but it gives an indication of the kind of dirty campaigning is going on the in the u.k. right know now if this poll is right and we do it up then with a small majority for the conservatives what would that mean for u.k. politics and of course for breakfast as we go at well this whole election is has been touted as one of the most important in the u.k. for an entire generation and that's because of briggs it if johnson does get a majority that means he can push through breaks it by the end of january next year but the devil will be in the details it's all about the internal politics in the conservative policy that would define exactly what type of breaks it happens and
