for germany so why is germany giving him and others like him such a hard time. to. remember. him from the streets for so long to the main stage at glastonbury storms he claims the crowd is threatens. well i'm terry martin welcome to the program people in the u.k. are about to vote in what's being called the most important jet general election in decades it will determine when how or if the country leaves the european union prime minister boris johnson's conservative party head looks set to be on track for an absolute majority but more recent. whole show jeremy coleman's labor gaining

ground meaning it's now too close to call. the shots show these are the early morning images boris johnson wanted voters to see a prime minister turn to milkmen dutifully delivering to the public. thank you for participating come on the good morning britain prime minister. but shortly before that johnson and his team were not so composed this time so to come on good morning britain delivered your promises sort of payson says i left that live in peace and johnson was caught off guard by a crew from i.t.v. is good morning britain and he took refuge from the reporters in a freezer. but equally as staged was labor leader german colp and last day on the campaign trail. and jumped at the chance to take a swipe at his main political rival was that you know this i've not come here to the well. i.

wasn't all how i. cope and will be hoping his message hits home so far polls have not been looking good for labor with most betting on a conservative majority but bookies have seen a shift in recent days and koeppen is at much better off of becoming prime minister however there are no clear favorites among voters. i am honest with you know if there is no choice. i don't like either the main candidates so i'm struggling. none of them tell the truth. i decide to tell the change it just looks. out for themselves and how for us that for themselves that. i will buy i will fight. so hard that i might not mind up that. this is largely a one issue election still. summit trying to focus on other important topics the

latest work by renowned street artist banksy highlights the issue of homelessness at christmas time for many of britain's poorest brags it is the least of their concerns. well for more now let's bring in our u.k. politics expert alex forrest watching good morning alex so election day is here how's it looking for the main parties well as we have just heard the polls have been narrowing throughout this campaign the conservative party under boris johnson have had a lead of around about 10 points and they all appear is still on course to win the election with lots of caveats thrown in there the latest poll put them with a majority to run about 28 seats are they so a party needs 326 seats to make government to be in a majority however there are so many issues here at stake for them and that there's
7:05 am
the issue of it being december it being cold will people turn out and vote and also the other issue of tactical voting which is where people may decide look in my particular constituency in this seat it could be that we can get a certain m.p. candidate out say a conservative candidate out by voting for another party and that's what they may do so that is why at the moment it's still the possibility for it to be a hung parliament citing this election was triggered of course by the government's failure to decide the briggs's issue what have the parties been telling voters about their plans to get this issue settled once and for all what we saw that with boris johnson in that report that his one message has been get bricks it done and everything that the conservatives have gone out and done particularly with boris johnson has had those 3 words on their campaign by the raised driving addict. a
7:06 am
with those words and whether he's baking a pile with it across his 8 for and pulling if everything is get done because that is what they think will get through and he's getting through particularly to to voters who would normally perhaps vote for the opposition party the labor party because the feeling is that many people a sick of bricks if and they want to get it done since that is what they want to do they're under pressure from the bracks it party to get bricks it done then we can look at the opposition policy the liberal democrat saying no we want to revoke article 50 of the lisbon treaty that means we want to reverse this whole thing we want to go back to the beginning forget brics it ever happened and then the labor party now that's the most interesting they have had a huge amount of a torturous debate over what do they want to do with bricks it finally they have decided that they would like to renegotiate a new deal with brussels and then put it to a vote to the people so a 2nd referendum to the people to decide but with jeremy corbyn the leaders saying
7:07 am
that he will not come down on the side leaving it completely open because many believe that he himself is actually pro bracks it ok that of course is contingent on the e.u. being willing to negotiate and if johnson's conservatives do win as the poll number polls right now suggest what will happen next well he will do what he's been promising which is to get it done so he's expected to bring his his deal his withdrawal agreement back to parliament even before christmas to try to get that through parliament with the aim of getting the u.k. out of the e.u. by the 31st of january now that was the latest deadline that brussels gave the u.k. if that happens it's not all over as many people are saying the concept is a saying that's it of course it isn't the u.k. that has to agree a future trade deal with you boris johnson says that can be done by the end of next

news still to come. he put his life on the line for the german army in afghanistan so why is germany now refusing to give this former afghan interpreter and his family a permanent home. the death toll in monday's new zealand volcano disaster has risen to 8 after 2 people critically injured died in hospital but that figure is expected to rise further with more than 2 dozen people in intensive care authorities say they will travel to the volcano on friday to recover the remains of the victims still on the island of. but the volcano is still highly volatile and could put recovery teams at risk through. from a safe distance with chances of a 2nd eruption as high as 60 percent scientists say it's too dangerous to bring back the bodies of 8 people still thought to be on the island. despite the risk

report is with us here in the studio good morning tessa good morning were you able to find out why germany is not agreed to offer his family permission to stay in this country permanently well i would assume that this question i think we have to understand that chis did not come to germany as a ordinary refugee he came here for a special program and that special program was set up for people like him people who served or employed by the promise that abroad locals who were then threatened and had to leave their country and this program simply does not 1st see for them to stay here permanently until no anyways and with regards to other refugees he actually has a disadvantage so he would have to pay into a german over time and scheme for 5 years until he could apply a permanent residency whereas coming refugees would only have to pay into that for 3 is but there has been a recent development in the story because germany's interior ministry it now realised i think that the pressure was mounting because it seemed so unfair to
7:19 am
a lot of people they've risked their lives in afghanistan and now they're here not permanently so now they prolonging their permits until 2021 see that only by kaiser time that doesn't really solve his problem is still leaves the question of course could he eventually be sent back to afghanistan but exactly that question to the interior ministry and they were pretty vague about this and so there's that we have to re judge this question once which would happen. but i think they they didn't exclude the option of sending him back of deportation so this is still an option that is on the table but they also underlined that until now they agree with all of the sources i've talked to as well that that the security situation is far from an hansing in afghanistan at the moment a case agreed to be interviewed on camera both at work and at home yet he didn't. his real name to be used what's your freedom. i mean obviously this is
7:20 am
a difficult game for him because he was threatened in afghanistan as we heard in the report and he is afraid that the taliban would find him an office with his real name there would be more chances for him to be found but at the same time he wants to make a case for himself because he feels he's been treated unfairly him germany because he's given so much and now he has no chance for well his little tons of time and residency so far so how do you see this playing out for cause he's just it's a waiting game. i mean from now he only is on a year's pallette so that runs out in about 11 months i think and he will now probably apply for that until $21.00 but actually every time he does that he has to pay over $300.00 euros for him and his family to reapply for this planet so also on a financial level it is a question for him ok and course germany is still in afghanistan with his troops
