yad vashem and she joins us now it's a very moving speech by a german present or. it's the 1st time that a german leader has given an address how has this speech been received where you are. well i think it was small the well received commentators here and in the israeli media described it as a very emotional speech they also appreciated that he acknowledged the german role in world war 2 during the holocaust that he spoke somehow from his heart that he also started this speech to spray all the plus thing and he thing it's good for him to be yeah i mean it was something very special for him to be here the 1st time that a german president could speak in such a ceremony. so he had to make the balance in his speech between commemorating what had happened in the past what it happened to the victims here during the holocaust
6:05 pm
but also addressing what is happening in today's also in germany. with the attack in holland for example and rising and to semitism. people here think i think i've received this speech quite well it's not tiny i mean you. want to pick up where you ended with because of course the holocaust commemoration comes sadly at a time when acts of anti semitic violence have taken place in many parts of the world germany included as you just alluded to how has that been addressed in the speeches today. but i think this was one of the main themes of this world holocaust for. that was one of the hosts together with the other sam and israeli president for this very special event today in jerusalem on the one hand of course it was about a commemorating. the liberation of auschwitz 75 years ago but on the other hand
6:06 pm
also addressing the rising until semitism and i think this is what was expected also from all the speakers here and all of them of course mentioned the current problems all over the world with regard to discrimination to racism to i'm to semitism and also talk to some of the holocaust survivors in the past weeks or so and they were saying it's very important that the speakers here address this because they went through all the horror and they don't want to see that this is repeated again. just a correspondent time kramer thank you as always. dr kraus was a teenager when she was deported from prague and ended up in our streets now mind you wanted to spoke to do daily news at her home in israel where leaders will be at the former death camp for the official holocaust remembrance day on monday but for

a global health emergency much depends on whether the measures set in place by the chinese government will prove effective. trying to contain a city. of 11000000 people is new to science it has not been tried before as a public health measure so we cannot at this stage say it will order it would not work. with the city sealed off from the outside world if you headed to the epicenter of the outbreak. the last trains bell for 100 were unusually empty. and there's plenty of elbow room for passengers on the final flights into the city. some fear repeat of the deadly outbreak of the sars virus which killed over 800 people in 2003. i think that is i'm really worried i'm really scared it will become the next ours that's why we all

trains and the track the trains and buses are all shut down people are still moving around the city but they don't go to markets that much they basically stay indoors all the ostrow stay indoors and people go out os 2 was east protective masks will this help contain the spread of those. it will certainly help if people can't leave the cities of people i'm traveling so much with you have to consider that you know new years we had to evolve it so people would usually travel a lot they would infect much more now as this is probably one of the most effective ways of preventing that by containing it in a city but we have to be aware as it is this is a city of 11000000 people 3 more cities in the same province have already been also shut down in the same way or basically been isolated now this is a very tough and decisive response by the chinese also rotis and the w.h.o. has also acknowledged it so we will have to see if the w.h.
