or from from other epicenters that become established currently the w.h.o. has raised at the risk levels as high globally and very high in china. airlines like the towns on british airways have cancelled their flights to and from china. and in the city awful han frantic efforts to build a dedicated hospital from scratch go on around the clock. scientists at the chinese national health commission expect the outbreak to continue spreading and reach a peak in 10 days' time. and for more tonight we want to bring in martin sturmer he is a viral wages at the lab for interdisciplinary medicine in frankfurt it's good to have you on the program where we've seen what's happening right now flights are being canceled the countries are bringing back their citizens is this the the are these the necessary steps they should be taken at this stage in the outbreak in your

medical opinion. yeah i think so because it's quite quite dangerous to stay in the area because we know that the virus is spreading anymore you've heard about rising peoples infected was a virus and from my point of view you have even more the next days and so it may be a good idea however on the other side you should think keep in mind that you also have the risk to impart the virus in the whole country not even by that not only by the patients transported by the people transported but although the flight crew may be and so you have to be careful that you don't import the virus just out of people safe and you have people all around the world especially here in europe asking how dangerous is the virus now what do you say.
10:05 pm
you know it's difficult to say it's going to compare it right now with other viruses they wait to 8. percent so it's. an anomaly elderly patient people are affected and you have to have a basic disease so you can compare it maybe was a very strong in some way. and we understand that australian science is they've created a lab version of this strain of the corona virus trying to under stand its nature russia and china say that they've started working on a vaccine and the health fast scientists deliver an effective vaccine in order to stop this outbreak. you know they mention that they can test the they are exene. and then maybe july only in a small amount of people because you don't know if the scene might have side
10:06 pm
effects or anything else so it's not not possible to test these already and the whole population so we have to wait until these tests are fine and afterwards you can continue to that scene. but that maybe take even more time than have a year we have been told that the germans who are being brought back from will be put in quarantine for we understand 2 weeks is is that you know a reasonable amount of time is that the time that is necessary. it's a minimum time i would suggest because it's a. time however if you have people in this time may be infected and he will be get ill and let off the one week so the other one of them wants maybe still have to be caught in time the norm or so it depends on if you have infected people
10:07 pm
in your current time face and if they have a context you need to primetime them all of separately so that you can avoid that and maybe you can be fine this 14 days but i think it's difficult ok martin schirmer the lab for interdisciplinary medicine in frankfurt tonight martin we appreciate your insights thank you. well after years of wrangling and still mates you may have thought that it would never happen but today it did the european parliament approved legislation allowing britain to leave the european union beginning this friday while most lawmakers expressed their regrets one prominent brigadier did not hide his satisfaction. the final vote after nearly 4 years european lawmakers overwhelmingly back breaks it happening this coming friday for the architects of the u.k.'s departure from the e.u. it can't come soon enough i mean well it's not exactly like i very you're going to

we look into the depths of love we will always love you and we will never be far long live europe thank you over the. the. the. the the. the an emotional day in the european parliament before breaks it comes into force that and the beginning of a transition period with the many more negotiations that lie ahead. fares some of the other stories now that are making headlines around the world a charity ship carrying more than $400.00 rescued migrants has been allowed to dock in italy the vessel had been stranded at sea for several days the un's refugee agency says increased fighting in libya is causing more people to risk the

dangerous sea journeys to europe an official in the democratic republic of congo says $36.00 people have been killed 'd in a suspected militia attack it's understood that the people were hacked to death during a raid on villages in the country's eastern beni region the attack is being blamed on a ugandan islamist group fresh clashes and have erupted between security forces and protesters in the iraqi capital baghdad at one stage police used tear gas to break up a crowd and were seen beating up one protester more than 450 people have been killed and entire government demonstrations in iraq since october. well to the united states now in the book that has been threatening to bend it donald trump's senate impeachment trial the trumpet ministration is moving to block former national security adviser john bolton from publishing a potentially damaging book about his time in the white house trump's national security council says an unpublished manuscript of bolton's book contains
10:11 pm
classified information and could not be published as written or should not be published as written manuscript reportedly alleges that trump demand of ukraine investigate a political wife in exchange for military aid now that is one of the accusations in the impeachment case against the president democrats are demanding this hour sworn testimony from both be allowed on this issue. our let's take this story now to washington d.c. our correspondent i would use on the story of worse needs you are why are the accusations in bolton's book why are they. possibly so dangerous for a draw. well brand the book is supposed to be published in marshal we don't know of course exactly what's in there but the reports we have 2 say that bolton writes
10:12 pm
that trump explicitly told him that he was using military aid to pressure ukraine to investigate into his political rivals and that would be so dangerous for president trump because it essentially would confirm one of the core ellie geishas all of the impeachment inquiry and that is that so-called quid pro quo which means investigations in exchange for money in exchange for that military aid for ukraine and that it legally dup would be an abuse of power and therefore also a breach of president trumps oath of office and now this is also the 1st time we hear that from someone directly involved until now the republican defense was pretty clear here they always said that those allegations are based on hearsay or now you have the former national security adviser john bolton confirming that saying that president trump directly told him what he was using that money for and especially withholding that money and that will certainly now undermine the republican defense in the ongoing impeachment trial you can see the white house
10:13 pm
desperately trying to prohibit that book from being published which said by the way also tried earlier with the now famous befire and fury and as you know that book eventually was published that's exactly right and we know the. be one of the potential witnesses in this impeachment trial against president drunk was the latest concerning witnesses. well that's right and job almost also by the way invited early on to the impeachment inquiry which he skipped that deposition even threatened to go to court if he subpoenaed now with regard to the trial he openly offered to testify the biggest hurdle here right now is that senators have to vote on that they have to allow witnesses to the trial a total of 4 republican senators is needed the most prominent figure here is mitt romney who supported 4 witnesses we know of a couple others that are also considering now reports also say the majority leader
10:14 pm
mitch mcconnell cannot get a majority together at this point to block those witnesses and the vote could be held as soon as on friday afternoon if there are no witnesses if senate and the republican majority is able to block those witnesses that could actually be acquitted within a matter of days but with with that book now in the pipeline it's obviously increasingly difficult for republicans to refuse that call for witnesses i mean it is quite a statement for mcconnell a wild across his lips isn't it that he doesn't have the votes to block witnesses in this trial i mean it could be a game changer good it could be but don't forget brett in the end it needs a 2 thirds majority you so there's a little difference here in order to allow witnesses it's a simple majority is enough we have a couple republicans who are considering supporting that but then for a decision for removing trauma from office 2 thirds i needed and that looks
