10:32 pm
an attempt to keep. up this police man is trying to keep trying off the street it's only the beginning of the morning rush hour but traffic is already jammed try sickles and motorbikes known as okada are by far the cheapest and fastest mode of transport. this is one of the easiest ways of getting through have you traffic in lagos but soon people here won't be able to ride a motorbike like this anymore. the government argues that motorbikes cause too many accidents but many depend on them for their livelihoods plenty of small commercial companies have popped up in recent years that's on top of thousands of drivers who operate on their own for all of them the ban is a huge blow. it is a bit. before you. will do.
10:33 pm
so i'm so proud. the government come out with thoughts. from if i know bike on the highway everybody is going to. what we do right out boarding the bus they don't want. to do is because you have know all about things to do i mean myself i'd love to school news by profession by now. as the public transport not broken lagos is far from sufficient many customers depend on ok to get around. even stop making quite my hide if you don't buy the let me get sure i. get it you take all that you provide and means of transportation of all people but the lagos state government is adamant. people getting that this must be good and that means broken to go make those said you know
10:34 pm
obviously not we thought mostly because we do not want to tiny for the right time back now and that's this bloody cmos going t.v. and he suggests the band might also free up young drivers to take up other professions young people are no longer ready to learn tricks everybody is jumping no no no it is you go up paint us you do not build us you have to laws you don't know how to sounds are very scarce now that was not the situation of the folk at that. it's not the 1st time that lagos has imposed a ban on motorbikes so far it never really worked the commissioner sas government will introduce more bosses and better roads this time but as traffic in lagos keeps getting busier it's hard to see how people here will manage the delta okada.

a continent africa and it hurts and the other one treated this crap out of business it is symbolic of how the media has been consistently cropping out youth off color from the narrative when they cover the climate action movement. so my guest today is none other than the ugandan activist and that's in a concert herself this morning but as it took part in a press conference with gratitude following that cropping that picture cropping saga it focused on climate change in africa welcome to news africa vanessa we'll talk about the press conference in a moment but 1st i want to ask you when you said that you were cropped out of that picture you said that a continent had been you bradys but i want to know how you personally felt when you saw that picture and that you've been cropped out of fish. when i saw that i felt so frustrated and sighed this is because i had stressed out
10:37 pm
the point during the press conference to the media that it is important for them to report stories from different parts of the world i really felt disappointed when i phoned i had been cropped out of the photo. wives were in shoes but the action made us to mean to me i went ahead and read the article actually and i was not introduced as one of the activists who had the press conference none of my quotes from the press conference was included in the article it's really made me feel so sad. for this and no one looking at your twitter feed can really get a sense of that some of the statements that you've put out in response to it but you took part in the congo press conference today alongside you'll hear that would be great to. tell me what was the objective all spec press conference i understand it was in response to this picture. the
10:38 pm
objective of the press conference was mainly to points the climate crisis in africa for everyone to see this press conference gave an opportunity to different activists from africa to air out their stories and to of the sufferings and the agony that different people face as a result of the climate crisis from different parts of the continent. when so when did you all activism journey begin and tell me what it is that moved you to get up and do something about climate change in africa. well in may 2018 after school i wanted to do something that of course change in the lives of the people of my country i grew up seeing my dad as our tyrian get involved in various activities that provided solutions to people who are facing such and challenges i was moved to do the same thing but i was not specific of the

kind of activism that i would do in the beginning i carried out to such to find out the major problems that are faced by the people in my country and i found quite a number of them like unemployment corruption poverty i'm. but ours really struck by climate change i decided to read more about each to understand its causes and the available this is what drove my activism. and business of what is your message to the world after this incident off the picture. i would tell the world that every voice mark does and every possible mottos it is responsible for all of us to respect and listen to the voices of people regardless of where they come from because every voice has a story to and every story has a solution to give and every solution has a life to change so it is important for the wallowed and everyone else to give
10:40 pm
opportunities to different people regardless of where they come from to give them platforms regardless of where they come from and to amplify their voices because there are many activists out there who are trying as much as possible to be listened to to be had but they're all men being had only seen 2 by anyone so it is important for all of us to respect them and give them a chance to air out their challenges and the solutions that they have to offer. that spend this and that in uganda thank you. while africa is bearing the brunt of climate change many solutions are being produced on the continent particularly in agriculture which is one of the main contributors of greenhouse gases now researches in kenya say they found a way for cattle farm is to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve their in. treating
10:41 pm
a growing population means farmers are seeking more space for their herds to graze in kenya cattle farms are increasingly encroaching on forests. that's bad for the climate as forests soak up and store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere so when you cut down forests either to take it into crop land. for grassland has never stuck then you are in this thing a lot of carbon into the atmosphere to claim it's tense but this humble plant could be the solution napier grass which grows wild across many east african countries researchers say cows fed on a pure grass produce less meester in a powerful greenhouse gas the organically fertilize grass produces less carbon emissions than other crops it's also richer in nutrients and carries fewer ticks some of the. disappeared because sometimes the needs that cannot be don't get it
10:42 pm
but a lot of. it's been sold very definite. and healthy cows produce up to 50 percent more milk that's welcome news for kenya's 2000000 small scale dairy farmers. happier farmers and healthier cows are just some of the fortunate side effects in the fight against climate change. and that is it for now from africa you can catch all our stories on our website and facebook page now as a motorbike band comes into it in lagos many of you with some cool images of this load of trials in so many creative ways on the continent.
