the palace of culture where he gave a speech there was a lot of music made of trees and also spoke to introducing german president prime closer steinmeyer who walked a very fine line between commemorating the victims of the while at the same time stressing germany's responsibility for the war. from. the president was a pains to talk about the far right and its approach to these events 70 years ago it is interesting that something addressed and where. has had so having so much success and what role a tell us why that this is a thing for them for the far right well i think i would put it in the. president's words there was a very strong moment during his speech where he used all his moral authority as the president of this country outlining that there can never be and must not must must
6:05 pm
never be. history in this country and this being used by the far right that can never and must never be a comparison between auschwitz and racism for example. figures of the right far right here in germany that were playing the numbers for example just before this common ration today saying oh there were probably even more than 100000 people being killed and this is just wrong we have full of a wide range of historians saying ok it was 25000 and that was the point i used to express this is not possible and democrats in this open society in this country will always have to stand against its supporters just to be clear the far right here in germany using events like dressed in to sort of downplay germany's responsibility this is what's happening in the public sphere is what happening in social media for example ok only in talk to us about the overall

mood that there was speeches there was music. exactly there were a lot of speeches by just time i actually welcomed guests from other padna cities as well and a lot of people who were being had phones for the simple 10 years translation. but the mood was very sober and definitely felt like coming very soon thinking commemorating all the victims that died here injuries 75 years ago but also the victims of the nazis during the 2nd world war and victims of wars in conflicts still going on right now i'm saying here at the human chain standing right now and the families i talked to here told me about their fears about a rising conflict a rising war all these rising tension see in germany but also across the world and

they told me that we take it for granted. there has been peace for such a long time and now is the time to go take to the streets and stand up for it. because another. president. speech from kaufman he talked about the polish town velu that many of us will not of heard off why that's very mob mockable he started with yellow and he was there last september in the corner ation of the beginning of world war 2 in poland a little town in south east poland that was an innocent sound i would say there was no military at the time when nazi germany even the entered poland by air and totally destroyed the center of this little town killing more than 5000 people it was the print used the beginning of the german territory in eastern europe that followed later and that led at the end of the day to auschwitz frank kaufman thank

you for that and to you merely from his time in dresden and we thank you as well. i'll take a look at some of the other stories making news around the world british prime minister barak johnson has fired a number of ministers a major capital reshuffle in a surprise move finance minister sajid javid announced that he was resigning british media say he refused the prime minister's request to fire his advisors the northern ireland secretary general smith also lost his government job. the un has released a report accusing more than 100 israeli businesses of being complicit in violating palestinian rights but uprising in the occupied west bank palestinian officials of welcome to report israel's prime minister benjamin netanyahu described this is a shameful event to blacken his country's name. indonesia's a mountain volcano has erupted throwing ash thousands of meters into the air and residents were told to stay outside 3 kilometer exclusion zone but after one of the

world's most active volcanoes its last major eruption 10 years ago killed more than 300 people. and there has been alarming surge in the number of infections and deaths from because. virus named by scientists is covered 90 and the number of infections worldwide to shot up 260215000 new cases were reported in just one day japan has reported its 1st coded 19 deaths in the epicenter of the outbreak china's who by province recorded more than 250 deaths on wednesday alone. correspondent mathias belinda has more from beijing indeed a new reporting method the local authorities have decided to include patients who show clear symptoms of viral monia but. not tested positively for the virus into their statistics the reason is that many
6:10 pm
patients could not be tested so far because there is a lack of laboratories and testing kids and we're also hearing cases where people have tested negative lead. despite clear symptoms that point to the corona virus infection i have spoken to some of them one woman told me that a mother who was suffering from c. was suffering severely could not be admitted into a hospital because she tested negatively twice despite her symptoms and only the 3rd test was positive so hopefully this new method of. counting will also lead to more patients having a chance at a proper treatment because they can be admitted to hospitals now it might also mean that the queues for the hospital beds will be longer and people and people will still have this sort of dr simon clockers a salad

a microbiologist from the university of reading in england welcome to day doubly dr clark we just heard there chinese authorities are broadening back classification of corona virus infections to include pneumonia sentence is that a useful sort of precaution or does it muddy the waters. well i think basically the more we know about this infection the more we know about people's symptoms it's only reasonable to expect us to include more and more things that will classify property as having corona virus infections so the more we study the more we know the better we can diagnose these things. we've seen some deaths some deaths outside china but the vast majority of deaths and infections have been largely confined to the province should we expect another outbreak somewhere else in the world or do we see this sort of a dwindling and until it becomes manageable. well it's difficult to know whether
6:12 pm
it'll print or more often if indeed it does when that will happen but it's only reasonable to expect that that the chinese will be hit hardest 1st because of course that's seemingly where the virus originated as it spreads outside of china you may may see more deaths in other countries and of course the harder countries hits in terms of the number of people get if infected the more deaths you will see there. so in the meantime all we can do is the reasonable things what your hands and if you've been in the area or in contact with someone in the area. keep an eye out for the symptoms. i think so yes wash your hands capture the sneezing and tissues and make sure it's been if you have been exposed to somebody you know has the infection then in the u.k. at least people are being encouraged to self quarantine and hide themselves away for a fortnight until you infection if they've got the infection would have passed and
6:13 pm
it's important to remember that if they do get the infection the likelihood is that it will be pretty mild. the numbers and the response i think a quite telling we know with that pneumonia for instance kills more people every day that has happened during the whole of this particular corona infection so clearly there corona is not as deadly why is it so dangerous why is it well a world health problem. pneumonia is a catch all phrase for a chest infection any chest infection can be characterized as pneumonia that's all it is it's inflammation in the arms due to an infection so that's what the doctors are looking for so yeah pneumonia aside from corona virus will cause will kill a lot more people because it represents a lot more infections things like flu and things can cause pneumonia presumably this will not be the last killer virus event call it that that the world is going

to have to deal with so where do these unknown diseases spring from. it seems that they usually spring from animals they mutate they move from animals into the human population and that can happen with flu it's what happened with hiv it's what happens with all sorts of other viruses as well they cross species barriers when they mutate and of course human immune systems probably have never seen anything like them before and that's why they can spread quite quickly good talking to you thank you for joining us dr simon class from the university ready you're welcome. i just bought sound your can transmit has been removed from the board of head to ballet in days after he's done the bundesliga club by play resigning as coach after only 10 weeks the former germany and u.s. national team coach had said he wanted to stay on the board despite resigning his coach but has as many investors said the matter of his resignation was unacceptable
