story reports is still coming in so information is still a lot of the ground but we do know 8 people dead 2 different locations the locations are in the city of hi now that's just a little bit to the east of frankfort in germany's west so we know 2 shootings that were connected boys took place in front or near a bars and 1st the calls came in at around 10 pm shots apparently fired from a dark colored vehicle which fled at least one of the scenes and police immediately launched a major operation involving a helicopter but we're yet to hear any reports of anyone being captured or any kind of suspects at this point there are unconfirmed reports in german media that suspects may have been found but we're still waiting to get confirmation for that just yet but what we do know 2 attacks 2 different locations 8 people dead several injured we're seeing images of dozens of ambulances attending this seems also some

images of the vehicle which appears to have a gun marks in it in its bonnet in the front there and the and we're also hearing that the may have been an arrest but it was the one who for details on that ok joel are there any clues so far as to who is behind the shooting and any possible motive no there's none yet and we want to be careful about speculating here so the locations where 2 bodies now they've been described as being sports bars or she should be. but of course we want to be careful about saying exactly what might have occurred in germany we have seen these kinds of incidents in the past months and years sometimes they are motivated by racism sometimes they are between family members sometimes they are between members of a criminal scene so as we're not we don't yet have clear information we want to be careful but police have set up a hotline to call for more information all right. thank you for that

decision to step down means they will no longer have an office at buckingham palace as of april 1st. japan's government is facing christe criticism for its apparent failure to contain the corona virus as $500.00 people who all tested negative left the cruise ship diamond princes which is quarantined off yokohama the government said nearly 80 more passengers still on board had tested positive so it seems that effort to stop the spread of the covert 19 virus has failed and some analysts are calling the corps an operation a flop. a floating prison that was host some on board have described the diamond princess after testing negative for the corona virus some of those held captive have finally been allowed to leave the quarantine ship to their obvious relief. conference recuperative i was so frightened every time they made announcements about infections there was so many of them. i wondered if we'd be next but.

many already had their minds on home and creature comforts. i want to take a bath and sleep. i want to take it easy and eat some. but an expert on infectious disease control who had earlier been invited on board to inspect the ship's response to the virus warned that the quarantine had been far from effective it was completely cerdic and. some crews had a fever they went to the medical center while wearing and mask but he didn't have any protection between sheet room and medical room he says he was worried about catching the virus while on board and said staff had failed to take adequate measures to hold it spread. he said pieces that i'm going to have

scared i was so scared of getting caught. because there was no way to tell where the barassi it's no green zone no red zone everybody could have virus and everybody was not careful about it when the ship arrived in new york a hama 10 passengers tested positive for the virus 2 weeks later more than 600 had been infected japan's government defended its response. during the war with the urgency of the current situation japan has taken full measures to ensure prevention of the spread of infection taking into consideration human rights and humanitarian needs cooperating with the relevant nations and taking appropriate measures. you can identify. thousands remain on board the diamond princess for some of those evacuated on land the journey is far from over they still face up to 2 weeks

quarantine in their home countries. but for others back under their own roof like the old commuters from kyoto the simple act of turning on the kitchen tap is reason enough to rejoice. earlier we spoke with the washington post's bureau chief in tokyo simon daniel and asked him why japanese health officials have decided to keep people on board at the diamond princess despite the high risk of their being infected with the coronavirus bill you know japan at the time the decision was was taken japan didn't have many cases of the virus it wants it's to keep the people who had the virus off the japanese mainland and it felt koren see was the right strategy as it turned out they haven't done it well i think the u.s. u.s. officials are now openly segment coroutine fails and actually as we look at as we knew more about the way the quarantine was why we've been. getting to find out

there actually it really wasn't done in a medically sound way and the conditions on board the ship were not we're not suitable. to to to keep this many people on board the ship the people who the foreigners are being taken back to places like the united states and canada being given another 14 days koren see because those governments don't believe that a corn seen on board a ship works the japanese patients who test negative for the virus are being allowed to leave their being and they're being allowed to board public transport was stopped near i don't go home so japan doesn't really want to admit that quarantine failed even when other governments basically have. made that decision the quarantine was not effective and of people were still being affected on infected on board the ship it was a difficult decision that you've had because they didn't have the cities for 3600 people on day one but as time went by it became increasingly clear as the number of

people rose to the forums it wasn't the right strategy and i think many people felt it was very slow to react to the changing reality. that your opinion has unveiled its strategy for regulating the use and development of controversial artificial intelligence technology also known as ai the strategy aims to make that you the world leader in a way that is quote fair transparent and democratic it also calls for more debate on whether to use facial recognition technology law enforcement welcomes it while others rejected as an assault on privacy. it takes john reman just 10 minutes to find a match in the database for the data police have been using facial recognition technology for 4 years and they think they can't do without it. in this database of known criminals are 1300000 people with 2200000 pictures so every time you're

arrested for a certain fact your picture was taken your fingerprints are taken and your personal details are taken and all these faces end up in this criminal database the system help them to arrest 100 people in the course of just one year despite the obvious advantages for police only half of e.u. countries are making use of some type of facial recognition technology france and germany for instance are already experimenting with real time surveillance but legal regulations across the e.u. are diverse the e.u. commission wants to open the debate and provide guidelines for all member states but their policy paper doesn't address the threat seriously enough according to patrick brier the green party member of the european parliament i'm sad that the original idea of the commission to consider a moratorium on facial surveillance has just simply been removed because that all

it's been the idea to put people's interests 1st and to evaluate technology properly because before it is being used and employed on the moscow the dutch police on the other hand are satisfied with the results of their system and even plan to upgrade it by the end of this year in some cases this is the only interest of kate and me that you will have only an image of a birth and nothing else and all these days end up as cases that we can all do in the investigation with. to go further data protection laws must be considered and the guts police are convinced that a public debate is long overdue if the full potential of facial recognition has to be explored. and here's a reminder of the top story we're following for you at least 8 people have been killed in shootings in the german city of han allen near frankfurt several of the others were seriously wounded the shots appear to have been fired from
