are hundreds of registered cases in the country and the number of new infections is still searching. meanwhile the covets 19 the commonly known as the corona virus is becoming increasingly political in iran supreme leader ayatollah ali khomeini accused iran's enemies of spreading propaganda about the virus online in order to stifle voting in saturday selection will meet a need. you know how massively they worked using various platforms to lower voter turnout how to know as. you know how during the last pretext they resorted to was this corona virus which has scared many that he could usually do both. however it rain is accused her leadership of hiding the real scope of break. we don't know what's true and what's false since

a government is constantly lying to us. health experts say maintaining a healthy immune system is key to fighting off the virus protective masks are now the dominant picture of presidents on alert in the philippines this wedding reception even required attendees to wear facial protection as the global a current of ours outbreak still needs to be contained taking care of one's personal hygiene has for some become the ultimate expression of love. u.s. senator bernie sanders has pulled out ahead in nevada's democratic party presidential caucuses is giant leave places him at the forefront of the race to become the democrats' nominee to challenge donald trump the democratic candidates are now looking ahead to the south carolina primary next week and then super tuesday on march 3rd. so far so successful for bernie
2:04 pm
sanders such was his confidence of winning in nevada he'd already moved on to another battleground texas one of the key super tuesday states in no time at all we have just put together. a multi-generational multi ridge racial coalition which is going up not only win in nevada it's going to sweep this country . ah. the father is the most diverse state to have its say in the contest so far polling suggested saan this had done well with hispanic votes this his plans for universal health care also resonated with many i i i he's now the clear front runner the behind him the race is tightening it was a better night for this man joe biden have to disasters in iowa new hampshire you.
2:05 pm
know the press is ready to clear people did a pretty. good rule i do we're going back you were odd law was still moderate democrats like biden and jet your concerns they worry sound as ideology plays into the hands of president donald trump but really it was before we rush to nominate senator sanders in our one shot to take on this president let us take a sober look at wasn't it stick for our party for our values and for those with the most to lose senator sanders believes in an inflexible ideological revolution that leaves out most democrats not to mention most americans. as if to prove the points trump tweeted his congratulations to quote crazy bernie adding don't let them take us away from you at this stage the democratic contest appears very much saunders to loose. all right for some more on all this i'm joined in the studio now by william
2:06 pm
glue craft so william hello to you and bring tell us at just how significant this vote in nevada was it's significant although i think some of the significance is a bit overhyped 1st of all only 50 percent of the vote about has been counted so far but that is enough apparently to call this solidly for bernie sanders as we noted in the report nevada is more demographically diverse than the previous primary and caucuses iowa and new hampshire but it's very relative given just how white iowa and new hampshire are and when it comes to hampshire how much of relatively wealthier it is but nevada does have a significant latino population it has a more working class population so it is a bit more representative of the united states as a whole is horse in the southwest united states very geographically different and bernie was able to hold his support and show as he said in his own speech that he does have broad support across age demographic. a class of these kinds of
2:07 pm
traditional barriers that used to decide how and why people vote for certain candidates so it is a signal that that that the democratic voters are coalescing around bernie sanders all right and now sanders sanders a win in this caucus was quite significant it was by quite a large margin in 2nd place was joe biden but that was quite far away does this mean biden is done is he finished nothing means anything yet but you make perfect point bernie sanders so far has more of the popular vote then almost bite him booted judge and close which are combined the 3 candidates seen as the most the more. moderate part of this menu of candidates you might say joe biden is certainly not calling it quits none of these candidates are calling it quits it's very interesting the different strategies that the candidates are using and not just relying on iowa new hampshire to gain that momentum right out of the gate but joe
2:08 pm
biden is eagerly waiting for south carolina which is the 1st primary the large black population and polling shows that black americans are really behind joe biden but with bernie sanders having so much momentum coming out of these 3 states now it will be interesting to see if that continues people continue in south carolina to stick by joe biden as they have or if they start to migrate over to bernie sanders and then we have super tuesday where michael bloomberg has is waiting in the wings with his hundreds of millions of dollars to see if his strategy of just focusing on super tuesday works so we're far away from making any kind of does any kind of decisions i. always great to hear your insights. let's get a quick check now of some of the other stories making news around the world an earthquake has killed at least 9 people in eastern turkey along the border region to iran more than a 1000 buildings collapsed turkey's interior minister says dozens more were injured after becoming trapped in rubble the tremors had

2 2 right there if you're up there brokers whatever thank you rick. and to the berlin wall and now and a film focusing on the berlin wall well at least the remaining pieces of the wall many of which have been scattered around the united states the filmmakers courtney's stevens and pancho villa has made a documentary called the american sector looking into this evolution the 3.5 metre high concrete blocks can be found all over the u.s. many were collected by american institutions and by interested individuals over the
2:11 pm
past 30 years with their story the filmmakers reflect on how our view of the past is shaped by the context of the present day. well the directors of the american sector join me now in the studio to talk a bit more about their documentary so courtney stevenson passion of alice thanks so much for being on our program courtney and like to start with you what gave you the idea to make this film so for both of us the fall of the berlin wall as one of these events that was one of the 1st times that we experienced as children history happening though you know it was your parents telling you to remember this for the rest of your life and i think recently we have had so much conversation about walls and about borders and ideas around freedom in this country and we found that the wall was something that allowed people to talk about those ideas displaced
2:12 pm
on to something else now pasha do people in the united states understand the significance of the berlin wall i mean how did they perceive it well so as we as you went around and talked to people we discovered that in each place people really ascribe freedom to the wall this idea of freedom but what freedom means can vary so much so we went to the microsoft headquarters and they said yes this was about freedom it's about the free market. we went to the state depart. and in washington d.c. and they said yes to about freedom the freedom that elections brings you the freedom of representative government. he went to a military base and we talked with one of the commanders there and he said yes this is about freedom this is about the freedom that the that the american military you know ensures for the for the rest of the world and so it really it turned out that
2:13 pm
the wall was an open symbol in the u.s. and people would project their own ideologies and thoughts and feelings about about these abstract ideas onto onto this this piece of history and now why did use decide to call the film the american sector well of course for referencing the area of berlin that was controlled by the american military but it was also a way of acknowledging that this film is really about america and it is not as much about telling the actual history of the wall as it is using it as a way to talk about the present. and what encounter surprised you the most or what surprised you most in making this film. well so one thing that surprised us a good deal was how much the cold war still lives on in the american consciousness and how much people still think about the world and how the world is
2:14 pm
organized through the lens of the cold war so the east and west. you know free and unfree. these are still the sort of. the the binary through which are so many people in the united states still think about about this sort of complicated international situation that we find ourselves in and now you've had 2 screenings of your film so far at the berlin what was the response by audiences court and we've been really thrilled to show the film here. things have been sold out last night we showed a keno international which was of course the great east berlin movie palace and so it's incredible and also very humbling to receive questions from people here who actually lived with the wall so yeah it has been thrilling it's also our 1st time not only in berlin but in germany and so this is very exciting for us you know are very glad that you're here courtney stephens and pasha vallas thank you so much for
2:15 pm
