by our political correspondent kate pretty good morning kate so the health minister there we heard him saying that the country is now facing its own coronavirus the demick what's the government doing about it well at the moment we're seeing a very clear headed and level headed approach to this actually of course the german government is in touch with other european governments as well particularly with italy but at the moment germany for example has no specific pandemic plan in place for the. virus but we are still in the situation change very rapidly so we could see plans change measures being increased in the coming days and of course the federal government has local governments to review measures and health plans as well but we're seeing not at the moment we're not really seeing any large scale measures no towns being closed off for example like we've seen in italy but of course the government to make sure that people who are affected. related has been

the case and also people who are being in contact with these affected people. for a couple of weeks. and of course the general the general public as well as to keep. very simple measures of hand washing as well. that is carried out. ok well one place where the virus is spreading in germany is the state of north rhine-westphalia man and his wife have both been hospitalized there in the city of ft. authorities transported the 47 year old man in this wife to a. clinic early tuesday morning the man's condition is critical he tested positive for covert 19 as the new coronaviruses named on wednesday officials confirmed both he and his wife were infected.

and is gravely ill he's suffering badly from pneumonia and is on ventilation. the good news is that his condition did not deteriorate overnight showing signs of improvement if the woman is also ill inflammation of the lungs and the fever but she is by no means in the same serious condition as her husband. the couple's 2 children have so far shown no symptoms of the forest and it being closely monitored . the couple has an active social life as you might be aware as weekend there were carnival celebrations throughout the state of north rhine-westphalia. what's important is that the woman is a kindergarten teacher and of course was working in child care until the beginning of carnival celebrations. children enrolled in daycare centers and schools in the area as well as parents are being told to remain at home for the next 2 weeks the goal is to break the chain of infection. the tradition and this

is why the challenge considering the man was in various places while displaying symptoms during the virus is 10 to 14 day period so he's intentionally came into contact with an almost endless number of people there is a man who was recently treated twice at the university clinic in cologne for an unrelated illness stuff who had contact with them there are now under quarantine. so the crew is continuing to spread the german health ministers warning of an epidemic in this country how worried or people in germany of course people are concerned this is something new we still don't know everything about this virus and of course at the moment that's still currently no vaccine available but some fucking it will seem to have been acting rather responsibly and calmly people quarantining themselves for the required amount of time as we saw the report that some schools have also being closed as well as a precautionary measure during that. period and of course people have been reaching

out to health authorities where necessary and it certainly seems here in berlin at least that people have been taking hand washing take very seriously very lucky to try and find some hand sanitizer at the moment as many of the shelves here at least in the capital empty of alcohol and lots of soap as well all must be said also that germany's health system is pretty well set up to deal with at least the country's health ministers. of course germany has a very strong health system and i think that something as well that's keeping germans as well extremely calm right now and they are of course following the advice of the of the of the health ministry as well and the best thing that people can do is just keep listening to see what the local measurement measures offer from local governments as well ok thanks so much political correspondent kate great fear . well this new form of corona virus emerged in the chinese city of in december

hand rush well for more now we're joined here in the studio by reporter peter dunne from our social media destiny has been watching how the. virus information war has been working out online peter we just saw in that report how much misinformation is circulating online about the corona virus what's the motivation of people who produce and spread that material well there are a number of different reasons as we saw in that report for instance one is you know just stone cold great people are trying to make a quick buck off of other people's fears but the more dangerous kind that we're seeing is really when this information is used as more of a political weapon so it's an attempt to you know weaponized information too so it is trust in governments destabilize governments potentially. you know at a time when people are really looking to their governments and authorities for

answers right so that can be very detrimental just last week the u.s. intelligence community warned against essentially an army of russian ling troll so thousands of fake accounts that are spreading wild out. like for instance the cia having created the virus in order to hurt the chinese economy we've seen similar attacks directed at china and one that i've also seen a lot of is you know rightly populists who essentially jumped on this outbreak to stoke and tame a great sentiment i spoke to a number of asian people who said that they've experienced attacks. and physically in the wake of the outbreak so a lot of different reasons none of them are good a lot of people are really unsure where they should look for accurate information about the coronavirus online what rough guidelines would you offer of them on how they can get the information that they need right i mean the good thing that
8:15 am
we've seen is as a lot of health ministries have been done a pretty pretty good job at you know actively debunking the misinformation that's out there they've rolled out very clear guidelines as to how to deal with the outbreak so look to those i would say number one. also just use your common sense if it sounds too wild to be true like the example we saw in that report hundreds of thousands of people who died you know look to other major outlets are they reporting similar numbers if not you know it's probably not true now the w h o's recent report is set up a special task force to help inform the public accurately about the current virus how effective do you think that'll be i mean it's a step in the right direction but the much greater problem that's none w.h.o. can't contain is the fact that too many of these social media platforms they still rely predominantly on their users to report the misinformation. and

only 26000 polar bears are left in the wild so i had to say they warn that 2 thirds of them might disappear within this century if the earth continues to get warmer if governments don't take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions these magnificent animals could even become extinct. things are hotting up in the champions league on wednesday night manchester city travel to dread jonathan crane from the sports is here to tell us all about it. so manchester city we know they've been banned from next season's tournaments but could they still stick around a bit longer than this one well they said they managed to pull off a $21.00 win in madrid recovering from a goal down to stand aside this one is competition more times than any other 3 were really impressive victory now as you might expect. for bracing for the hour

mark of the 1st go through rise by rails capitalize on the mix up in the man city defense but then back to baghdad the al hazy so nice glancing had it from him and then 5 minutes later they completed a comeback from the brain of that the man of the match really in the penalty spot he was absolutely. all night and then to make matters worse for your ram a loss was in a straight red card death bringing down his use when he was strong goals that's a huge play for them because he will not miss the 2nd leg and not. a city that was you that did it i see it with victory we can see them there so what do you think could. could run their manchester city not really all out of the competition they sent me could i mean they've given themselves a great chance really that taking syria way cole's back see manchester that means even a 10 win for round madrid won't be enough remember waco was effectively counts out of them we really need to give manchester city in the quality of the credit for the

way they set up and approach the game because it was quite brave he dropped 2 of his best attacking players right and says they were grier that allowed him to pack the midfield and that really had the effect of stifling madrid to kevin the boy and then really steps up and of course this all comes against the backdrop of this european baton on manchester city that fans were chanting against the way for the day now go out every said look this is not given us that insensitive i'm not sure we can really believe him because one of the reasons he cited so he's expensive is because the owners once were in the competition now while they started off of the game and he said if any side can turn this one around israel madrid let's listen we will play better we concede to goal that we should not conceding these level but sometimes we do these kind of things when mother. we scored a little enough to do it for no one read them and. we scored the 2nd one so.

that's the whole thing and i don't know what's going to happen sally was so generous and brave in alone when us and alone we need to go word i needed to go. through to reset the film also deals with the difficulties families have dealing with a mentally ill loved one like a bell founding plays molly with deep sensitivity showing how her father's state keeps pushing her to her limits my character is also really about making choices. in her life so for me i was kind of always in the middle of something the roads not taken is a moving father daughter title featuring extraordinary portrayals but it's not just a story of loving someone afflicted with severe illness it's just that what we call normal life is just one possibility among many.
