10:06 pm
several games of by munich in the recent in the coming weeks 4 weeks or so are likely to be taking place in empty stadiums so the number of measures being taken in germany is certainly increasing at the moment it's increasing. would you say germany is doing nothing. well compared to italy obviously germany has not done as much as italy has done but the authorities here say that they have been tracking the virus from the edges that are being taken also becoming more severe for instance the health minister also today appealed to people to stay at home of possible not to go traveling if they don't really need to and not to use public transportation if they don't absolutely have to all of these are measures that are intended to not to as a say prevent the virus from spreading but simply to dom the spread of the virus americal the chancellor said today what's important in all of this is the time that is gained by slowing down the spread of the virus that's time that is necessary for
10:07 pm
scientists to try and identify the virus to get to know it better to look for cures possible back scenes but there's also a time that's necessary in hospitals where the people that are severely affected by the virus are being treated there also time is needed to actually. get them to you know to to improve that's right that's why we go to statistical today saying at least 70 percent of people with the virus fully recover from the virus which is good news reporting tonight here in berlin homes that very much. and here's a look now at some of the other stories that are making headlines around the world a blast from a suspected rocket attack interrupted a ceremony in kabul today in which afghan leader he was sworn in as president a gun he won the race by a slim margin however wible leader abdul abdullah also declared himself the winner of dual was sworn in as president at the same time at

over migrants on the turkish border everyone wants more help from brussels for the 4000000 syrian refugees who were living in turkey thousands of people have massed on the greek border ever since turkey opened its border with the e.u. to them 2 weeks ago in violation of that 2016 agreement. our let's go straight now to our correspondent york much as he is on the story for us tonight in brussels so georg did president ever to one did he get what he wanted from the europeans. judging from the fact brand that he left via the underground parking without giving any statement my presumption is he did not get what he wanted at least not on the condition c. mentioned earlier when he arrived here in brussels concrete to help with the refugee crisis in turkey and help from the nato alliance as well and we have to say georg this latest acute crisis started when president to one
10:10 pm
basically told the refugees and migrants you know you can go into europe now the border is open so we're at are one in the were they able to find common ground here . it was quite interesting to listen to the press conference given by was left on the line the head of the european commission and the head of the european council sean michel and the language they used is a constructive engagement they shared different opinions and if i may translate that diplomatic language to you it basically means 0 movement what was enough on the line however said is that the turkey refugee deal is still valid and that there is now a fact finding mission spearheaded by the diplomatic chief of the european union jobs of perella and his turkish counterpart so those 2 men all supposed to single out now up to map out areas where they will check whether the turkey refugee deal
10:11 pm
holds or web potential problems are and what does this mean then for the situation at the border between turkey and greece. that's really hard to say was enough on the line said that the talks were good and there was a starting point and so for the situation on the border it doesn't mean i would say for the moment not much not much change she said there is a move forward is possible provided it's recip broke will that we'll have to see really to what extent this really pans out and to what extent. now refrains from further provocations and sending people to that border we will see gay monsters in the story force in brussels tonight new york thank you as we said the most recent focus of the migration crisis has been the greek turkish land border but tens of thousands of other migrants are currently living in overcrowded camps on greek islands berlin now says it wants to help greece by taking up to 1500
10:12 pm
migrant children to other european countries and it says it's looking for a coalition of the willing among the e.u. states to do so. sick and defenseless. of all the people feeling the greek refugee camps the children perhaps suffer the most. but now some of them have a glimmer of hope germany wants to help. as humans we feel a sense of mutual responsibility for protecting these children some of whom are at risk unaccompanied or in a difficult situation and need our help greece can't deal with all of this without support that's why germany will play a fair part in a coalition of volunteers. but. up to 1500 children could be taken in by europe in this way right now they are stranded in refugee camps on the greek agent islands in maria alone on the island of lesbos there are about 7000
10:13 pm
children many are there without their parents many are traumatized psychologically and physically sick. at the moment there is only a small team of doctors taking care of them. the german government wants to show its humanitarian side and help greece get through this crisis the greek government is under a lot of pressure videos of life on the greek turkish border are upsetting since the end of february when turkey opened the gates to europe tens of thousands of refugees have been making their way to greece once they're they're stopped from crossing into territory by border guards armed with tear gas and rubber bullets. in the last 10 days we have shown that we are capable of defending national and european sovereignty greece and europe will not stand for extortion by anyone.
10:14 pm
up with excitement. mit's otaki welcomes the german initiative and considers it the 1st step towards an easing of tensions but it is not enough and it's monday gold medals we are talking about over $5000.00 children. greece can keep and take care of a significant number of them but the rest must be distributed amongst the european countries should be documented the potential to cope with because for some children a coalition of european volunteers would be the answer to their problems but only if it comes in time. and here's a reminder of our top story italian prime minister do sepic on today has ordered the extension of emergency anti coronavirus measures to cover the entire country the nationwide restrictions target travel and public gatherings.
10:15 pm
