comes after many lock down restrictions have been lifted in germany cafes and restaurants have opened in northern germany and warm spring weather has also brought more people out onto the streets and parks. correspondent very bright he is one of those in central berlin the softer new what can you run on as. a people where you are meeting social distancing rules. exactly and sometimes i am in one of the parks in east and then here and it seems for the large part people are still a daring to the restrictions that are still in place on social contact making sure that people are keeping at least 1.5 metres apart from people that are not from their households and just anecdotally speaking from this afternoon it seems that a lot of people are now starting to meet with the households i've seen several small groups meeting at a distance out of the sides of the picnic blankets and a lot of people are out in different sports together exercising as well and that's

something we're expecting to see increasingly in the coming days as most of germany 16 states will start to me cafes restaurants as well but of course there are still social distancing restrictions in place as well as that. to wear masks both in shops and on public transport. we've heard a lot about how the lockdown has tested the patience of parents but a lot of other people feel like this is more broadly becoming a civil rights issue even as the lock down restrictions are being eased how widely held is that concern that is becoming a civil rights issue. well we saw several demonstrations pop up across germany yesterday with thousands of people turning out they the main issue that these protesters have is they accuse the medical professionals here in germany and politicians of infringing their rights to the partial lockdown measures

that we've seen hammer stricture and in recent weeks of course many of those are now being eased and that all depends as well on how they should reproduction rights continues to fluctuate as you've already mentioned it's now at over 1 point one we can have a look now at exactly who might be behind these a growing protest. in unfamiliar scenes for a country where large gatherings and close contacts of thousands defied distancing rosenstock got to protest the coronavirus restrictions families with children young and old. it's been young but i'm not because i think the restrictions of gone too far. more and i don't think wearing a face mask is necessary anymore to take wise i know it's clearly about limiting civil liberties and i'm always in favor of freedom. the demonstrators include some who believe in conspiracy theories others who believe forced vaccinations a coming. research survey extremism all of

a duck casts as disparate groups and you know it's an across germany to oppose the restrictions so. it's clearly a protest a citizen protest based on the feeling that something has gone wrong in these last weeks but that feeling is being used and manipulated by the extreme right. money put that's what next. the government is monitoring the protest movement with concern worried that the mood in the country could sour. as this is the mission it's a questionable mixture this is gaining traction and it could potentially lead to the radicalization of some individuals that's what that's what i'm worried. that's going on that's what. trouble arose around the edges of one demonstration. of the police forces attempted to break up the rally. that we've observed some people from the extreme rights movements hanging around the edges demonstration

acting aggressively. police say they included some well known members of germany's far right see. brady is still with us from a park in central berlin the place captures a really interesting moment and it raises the question is this a growing singular movement we're seeing or do you think this is more the pandemic as a moment that is unifying several different groups in protest. this is certainly unifying several different groups and the one thing that seems to unite them at the moment is this distrust of mainstream politics and also a certain degree mainstream media as well and it really is quite incredible to see the breadth of the different groups that were attending these demonstrations as we had there in the reports those people from the far left from the far right everything in between and on top of that you've also got conspiracy theorists people from vaccination groups also known holocaust deniers so that all concerns
2:07 pm
that these demonstrations could be utilized to a very different purpose in the coming weeks and even abuse said the old ortiz will be keeping an eye on how these develop but that said these groups are still a minority and according to a poll at least from just a couple of days ago 2 thirds of the nation here in germany actually still supports the restrictions that are currently in place of course that's a much lower number than just a few weeks ago at the beginning of the pandemic when just over 90 percent of the nation supported the government's decision to put restrictions on certain social contacts but of course these numbers as i say are set to be reviewed in the coming days but by experts and politicians so we could still even see a step back all of those eason's of restrict easing on restrictions yet depending on how the number of cases and that all important reproduction rate fluctuates in the coming days. building could pretty thank you so much. and let's have
