a live in album people on average the development comes after many lockdown restrictions have been lifted in germany cafes and restaurants have opened in northern germany and warm spring weather has also brought more people out onto the streets and into parks. correspondent kate brody is one of those in central berlin the softer new what can you run on. people where you are heeding social distancing rules exactly and sometimes they i mean one of the parks in eastern but then here and it seems for the large part most people are still a daring to the restrictions that are still in place on social contact making sure that people are keeping at least 1.5 metres apart from people they're not from their households and just anecdotally speaking from this afternoon it seems that a lot of people are now starting to meet with of the households i've seen several small groups meeting at a distance at other sides of the picnic blankets and
4:03 pm
a lot of people are out in different sports together exercising as well and that's something we're expecting to see increasingly in the coming days as most of germany's 16 states will start to open more gastronomy cafes restaurants as well but of course there are still social distancing restrictions in place as well as that. to wear masks both in shops and on public transport. we've heard a lot about how the lockdown has tested the patience of parents but a lot of other people feel are this is more broadly becoming a civil rights issue even as the lock down restrictions are being eased how widely held is that concern that is becoming a civil rights issue. well we saw several demonstrations pop up across germany yesterday with thousands of people turning out they the main issue that these protesters have is they accuse the medical professionals here in germany and politicians of infringing their of rights due to the partial lockdown
4:04 pm
measures that we've seen hammer struction in recent weeks of course many of those are now being eased and that all depends as well on how they treat projection right continues to fluctuate as you've already mentioned it's now at over $1.00 we can have a look now at exactly who might be behind these a growing protest is. unfamiliar seems for a country where large gatherings and close contacts abound thousands defied distancing rosenstock got to protest the coronavirus restrictions families with children young and old. it's been young but at least i'm not because i think the restrictions of gone too far. more and i don't think wearing a face mask is necessary anymore because i know that it's clearly about limiting civil liberties and i'm always in favor of freedom. the demonstrators include some who believe in conspiracy theories others who believe forced vaccinations are

coming. research of extremism all of a duck us as disparate groups and you know it's an across germany to oppose the restrictions so. it's clearly a protest citizen protest based on the feeling that something has gone wrong in these last weeks but that feeling is being used and manipulated by the extreme right. next to. the government is monitoring the protest movement with concern worried that the mood in the country could sour. as this is the mitchell it's a questionable mixture this is gaining traction and it could potentially lead to the radicalization of some individuals that's what that's what i'm worried. this cannot. trouble arose around the edges of one demonstration. of the police forces attempted to break up the rally. we've observed some
4:06 pm
people from the extreme rights movements hanging around the edges demonstration acting aggressively. police say they included some well known members of germany's far right. party is still with us from a park in central berlin the place captures a really interesting moment and it raises the question is this a growing singular movement we're seeing or do you think this is more the pandemic as a moment that is unifying several different groups in protest. this is certainly unifying several different groups and the one thing that seems to unite them at the moment is this distrust of mainstream politics and also certain degree mainstream media as well and it really is quite incredible to see the breadth of the different groups that were attending these demonstrations as we had there in the reports those people from the far left from the far right everything in between and on top of that you've also got conspiracy theorists people from
4:07 pm
vaccination groups also known holocaust deniers so there are concerns that these demonstrations could be utilized to a very different purpose in the coming weeks and even of you said the authorities will be keeping an eye on how these develop but that said these groups are still a minority and according to a poll at least from just a couple of days ago 2 thirds of the nation here in germany actually still support the restrictions that are currently in place of course that's a much lower number than just a few weeks ago at the beginning of the pandemic when just over 90 percent of the nation supported the government's decision to put restrictions on certain social contacts but of course these numbers as i say set to be reviewed in the coming days but by experts i'm politicians so we could still even see a setback of those eason's of restrict easing on restrictions yet depending on how the number of cases fluctuates and that all important reproduction rate fluctuates in the coming days in berlin kate brady thank you so much. south korea's president
4:08 pm
has urged people not to lower with god in the battle against the coronavirus this comes after south korea reported 34 new cases in just one day and said the country needed to brace for a 2nd wave of the pandemic the country has been to this point widely praised for containing its corona virus outbreak and last week began easing restrictions. the fun didn't last long this is one of the 3 clubs at. 29 year old man visited before testing positive for corbett 19 so far more than 2 dozen cases have been linked to nightclubs in the e.t.o. one district in seoul authorities are currently tracking thousands of people who visited any of the clubs the sole mayor quickly put the lockdown brakes on. the city of seoul issues in order immediately prohibiting gatherings in all entertainment facilities including night clubs and clubs like boss and hostess.
4:09 pm
from this moment such facilities have to suspend their business and will face strict punishment if they breach the order you want to join total but middle. people working in the district are on high alert. we hope customers will be more cooperative when we ask for their names for visitor records. we all need to work together for a better future. i think this incident could have happened anywhere not just any taiwan. south korean president moon j n is warning of a 2nd wave of infections. lucia's search but the infection cluster which recently occurred in entertainment facilities has raised awareness that even during the stabilization phase similar situations can arise again any time zones anywhere

in the crowded space it's not over until it's over. the new infections are a blow to south korea's image as the role model in the fight against the corona virus and they could be a warning sign to other countries considering easing restrictions. well joining me now from seoul is correspondent frank smith frank south korea until this very moment was a role model in how it was supposed to handle as a nation i can run a virus outbreak now begs the question after this relapse did the easing of restrictions come too soon well i think we were need to look at and remember a couple of distinctive characteristics of the corona virus covert 19 1st off it's highly contagious and secondly people that are not showing symptoms can pass on the virus to others and according to initial reports that was the case here with a visitor to e.t.a. one here in the south korean capital seoul managed to infect several people and now
4:11 pm
we see that the government's trying to contact many many others and others are being infected across the country. the south korean president moon is now even warning of a 2nd why of infections how can the country prevent this. well i think it's very interesting the tradeoff that we have between the economy and public health and answering when you open up is going to be a difficult question so korea is going to ramp up its testing and it's tracing as in this case where it's trying to reach out to thousands of people in fact today i got a message on my hand fold once again telling me that if i visited 81 i could get 'd a test free and if i didn't have you know landed residency status i wouldn't have to worry about being deported or anything like that they want people to come forward to get tested and they want to continue strict test trace
4:12 pm
and quarantine system and frank just quickly what's the lesson here what is the title why what cannot the countries learn from this episode you know as we saw in its korea they had ramped down new infections down into single digits even 0 domestically for a few days recently but as the president said in his speech it's not over till it's over and certainly it's not over just yet. from seoul frank smith thank you so much now for a brief look at some of the other stories making headlines around the world. riot police in hong kong protesters through a shopping mall is off they took part in a flash small demonstration threw out the territory protesters were demanding independence from beijing's influence and calling for the city's unpopular data to resign so disciplines arrested. a 25 year old german man in the
