of the parks in east and then here and it seems for the large part most people are still a daring to the restrictions that are still in place on social contact making sure that people are keeping at least 1.5 metres apart from people not from their households and just anecdotally speaking from this afternoon it seems that a lot of people are now starting to meet with of the households i've seen several small groups meeting at a distance at other sides of the picnic blankets and a lot of people are out in different sports together exercising as well and that's something we're expecting to see increasingly in the coming days as most of germany 16 states will start to open more gastronomy cafes restaurants as well but of course there are still social distancing restrictions in place as well as that. to wear masks both in shops and on public transport. we've heard a lot about how the lockdown has tested the patience of parents but

a lot of other people feel are this is more broadly becoming a civil rights issue even as the lock down restrictions are being eased how widely held is that concern that is becoming a civil rights issue. well we saw several demonstrations pop up across germany yesterday with thousands of people turning out they the main issue that these protesters have is they accuse the medical professionals here in germany in politicians of infringing their rights to the partial lockdown measures that we've seen hammer stricture and in recent weeks of course many of those are now being eased and that all depends as well on how they should reproduction rights continues to fluctuate as you've already mentioned it's now at over 1 point one we can have a look now at exactly who might be behind these a growing protest. going on familiar scenes for a country where large gatherings in close contact sometimes thousands defy

protest movement with concern worried that the mood in the country could sour. this is the mitchell it's a questionable mixture this is gaining traction and it could potentially lead to the radicalization of some individuals that's what that's what i'm worried. that's what. trouble arose that around the edges of one demonstration. the police forces attempted to break up the rally. we've observed some people from the extreme rights movements hanging around the edge of the demonstration acting aggressively. police say they included some well known members of germany's far right. is still with us from a park in central berlin the place captures a really interesting moment and it raises the question is this a growing singular movement we're seeing or do you think this is more the pandemic as a moment that is unifying several different groups in protest. this
6:06 pm
is certainly unifying several different groups and the one thing that seems to unite them at the moment is this distrust of mainstream politics and also certain degree mainstream media as well and it really is quite incredible to see the breadth of the different groups that were attending these demonstrations as we heard there in the report those people from the far left from the far right everything in between and on top of that you've also got conspiracy theorists people from vaccination groups also known holocaust deniers so there are concerns that these demonstrations could be utilized to a very different purpose in the coming weeks and even of you said the ortiz will be keeping an eye on how these develop but that said these groups are still a minority and according to a poll at least from just a couple of days ago 2 thirds of the nation here in germany actually still supports the restrictions that are currently in place of course that's a much lower number than just

a few weeks ago at the beginning of the pandemic when just over 90 percent of the nation supported the government's decision to put restrictions on certain social contacts but of course these numbers as i say set to be reviewed in the coming days but by experts i'm politicians so we could still even see a setback of those eason's of restrict easing on restrictions yet depending on how the number of cases she waits and that all important reproduction rate fluctuates in the coming days in berlin kate brady thank you so much. korea's president has urged people not to lower their god in the battle against the coronavirus this comes after south korea reported 34 new cases in just one day and said the country needed to brace for a 2nd why of the pandemic the country has bringing to this point widely praised for containing its corona virus outbreak and last week began easing restrictions.

sports joins me only what a moment just what would hope bosses didn't want as they've been in the future response there has been the message so far is don't panic christians the head of the d.f.l. german football league came out yesterday and said that the plan that they have to finish the bundesliga season does account for things like this happening they knew of course of the possibility even the likelihood of more players testing positive for coronavirus before the end of the season so this one effect their strategy if it went so far as to say that he doesn't even interpret this as a setback which i think will raise a few eyebrows i think most people would see it as a setback for that plan the other thing he said that stood out to me was that this only affects the dresden quarantine only affects 2 out of $81.00 games left in the 2nd division season now of course that's a fair point but it does raise the question of how many games would it take before they would have to go back to the drawing board right because that's where my mind
6:13 pm
goes with where's the tipping point it's only dresden who's in quarantine and so if it has preempted those questions but could further cases de roland is it going to get serious if we get more well absolutely at some point it would but you've got to remember there's so many factors involved in this it's very difficult to produce. i mean we heard already about the local health authorities being the ones to decide the measures taken when players return positive tests and that means that location is all important where the players are who return positive tests you know which clubs they play for will have a massive effect on the impact that those positive tests have on the overall plan for the rest of the bundesliga season and you just can't predict where they're going to come from on top of that you know you've got the how quickly will clubs react to more positive tests how quickly will public opinion turn it's all a guessing game at the moment and so many people involved politicians got german football the green lawn but it was the german football league who chose this date

to restart long before other european leagues and long before most of the sports in the entire world did they go to italy i do have a little bit of sympathy with the d.f.l. here because this is a difficult task this balancing act trying to strike don't forget that the robert cock institute here in germany predicts asics but around the world to that there could be a 2nd wave of the virus here now that means that the d.f.l. wants to get in this kind of sweet spot where you're at the back end of the 1st wave and that means that the risk is low of spreading the virus amongst themselves but still that you have enough time to finish the season before a potential 2nd wave of the virus really picks up and nobody knows when all this is going to happen of course this week is all important if there are more positive tests before the season restarts than a lot of people will be saying they went to send arms from football fans and sporting fans from nowhere around the world on germany oliva thanks so much. it what she did the news in europe today a reminder before we go you can get all the latest on that website that's the
