states is a massive country but if you're looking at it from kind of a bird's eye perspective it doesn't really seem a lot is changing i mean time and time again we're seeing video come out of young black men losing their lives to police officers as a result the police action and not really much coming of it and you know this isn't just something that's cropped up with the advent of the camera phone and we've been seeing these type of incidents for decades in the united states i mean think of the 1902 l.a. race riots which were kicked off when 4 police officers were acquitted of beating rodney king and go even further back i mean the some of the lynchings that we saw in the fifty's and sixty's or even going back to slavery i mean this is a problem the united states has been grappling with for hundreds and. hundreds of years you know i'm a white kid from iowa i'm not going to pretend to actually know what it's like to be black in the united states but it's easy to see how frustrating it can be when a group of people see themselves constantly disadvantaged or actually having their

rights taken away and having their life taken away by men in uniform and you know i hate to read a quote out on the air but i think i'm going to my the chief of police of my home town police department just released this statement regarding this video and i think it sums it up perfectly he wrote this is a man with 30 years on the police force a couple of days ago i saw a video that shook me to my core it doesn't require any additional information i don't need to know what other videos out there i don't need to know what prompted the encounter i don't need to know what happened in the moments before the video started i don't need to know the personal history of anyone in the video everything i need to know is there in the video a man george floyd was not treated like a human being lost his life another man recklessly took that life with him parents and difference that 2nd man or uniform what we're seeing here is the frustration and anger of a group of people who see their humanity constantly taken away from them by people wearing uniforms and unfortunately you know the history of united states this is been going on for 400 years yeah well this is obviously more than just i mean

obviously the police brutality is a massive part of it but it isn't just about police brutality against black americans i'm communities in the us a suffering black communities are suffering disproportionately so even during at the moment with a chronic virus they've been hit harder than white community so i mean what does a car the economy have to do with this does it play a role oh i definitely mean it has to be if you look at it i mean as i said before i'm a white kid from iowa but that i was automatically means my socio economic outcomes the united states are a lot better than a lot of my black countrymen i mean at the end of the day i have access to better education to better jobs to better housing market. than they do i also don't necessarily have to worry about being the targets of police action as much as they do i mean once it's like i was reading recently there's kind of shocked me was the fact that the average wealth of a black family is 90 percent lower than a white family and
