defending its territorial integrity. and introduced shockingly. indian troops seriously violated the bilateral consensus and crossed the border line twice in gauging in illegal activities and provoking and attacking chinese personnel resulting in serious physical confrontation between border forces on the 2 sides. this yellow line marks the boundary between these super power was known as the line of actual control it's not a hard front as china and india have never agreed on where their border should lie in 2017 the 2 sides confronted each other for 73 days after indian troops blocked construction of a road by china flare ups of fixed chinese and indian leaders for years with a lasting solution seemingly out of reach this latest escalation suggests a rocky road ahead for these 2 nuclear armed nation. earlier we spoke with

province avnet the editor of force magazine which focuses on indian military matters we asked him if he expected a deescalation but neither side wanted war because what will happen is the next step i see the chinese they could taking a more hard position you see or wherever they were going to go to lead or give a bit of what we were for the europeans that very very very very good girl knowing fully well that whether they have a group that operates the base or the indians will create. the good things going will be a bit difficult to argue with. so they are both are really hard to go for the limitation that i get army of very good military so they're pretty firm i expect it will be some pretty hard. there will be much more. other ways off. that was province of ne the editor of force magazine speaking to us earlier

already made its way to other parts of the city. i'm very worried for now i don't know what the situation will be in the future because we aren't getting much information we don't know if the virus will spread again if it does we should worry . i'm in shock that it was supposed to be nearly over and then we suddenly get another wave of cases. have closed schools as well as sports and entertainment venues only residents who have recently tested negative are allowed to leave the city and only of travel is essential the measures fall short of a full lock time but the world health organization says beijing is doing enough. of course trade like this is a culture and it needs to be investigated and controlled and that's exactly what the chinese authorities are doing. but other provinces are concerned many have imposed quarantine requirements on visitors from beijing and

a country that had declared victory over the coronavirus is forced to confront the ever present risk of a fresh outbreak. that has some other headlines from around the world researchers in the u.k. say they have identified the 1st drug proven to significantly reduce the risk of death in patients with severe cases of cope with 19 in a major study the low cost steroids decks a method cell was found to cut deaths by a 3rd in patients on ventilators and assists and patients receiving oxygen. police have fired tear gas at a demonstration of health workers in paris the clashes broke out on the sidelines of largely peaceful protests in the capital demonstrators are demanding more investment in france's public health system restore years of cost cutting as the country's health care system struggles amid the cold in $1000.00 pandemics. u.s. president donald trump has signed an executive order to encourage changes in policing the order provides incentives to increase training and places restrictions on the use of police chokeholds but critics say the order will have little

immediate impact and does not address charges of systemic racism and police departments. here in germany 2 suspected rightwing extremists are standing trial accused of killing a politician in the west of the country. was shot at his house a year ago he was a supporter of chancellor angela merkel's decision to allow hundreds of thousands of migrants into germany and 2015. president trump says he's going to cut the number of american troops in germany by nearly 10000 from current levels of about 35000 he said he was taking the step because berlin of fail to meet its defense spending commitments president trumps a move as shaken nato and especially germany the foreign minister says he has received no detailed information about the troop withdrawal. a 70 year relationship and the threat tens of thousands of american troops have been stationed in germany

since softer the 2nd well who'll jemma natives are hoping donald trump will rethink his plan to withdraw over a quarter of u.s. troops from the country i was thinking to sit here and work on the ship we believe that the american presence in germany is important not only for the security of germany but also for the security of the united states and for the security of europe as a whole and because we work with the u.s. military presence in germany was originally a bulwark against the soviet threat in the cold war and continues to be a deterrent against potential russian aggression there's no actual timetable for when the u.s. troops will leave nato leaders say there's still a lot to discuss. but it's not yet decided. this decision will be implemented and i expect this to be an issue that will be discussed at the upcoming defense ministerial meeting. and i was spoken with the

president or spoke you know there are present is will the u.s. administration and i also spoke with the german defense minister on the the girl called boller so this is now an ongoing dialogue on this issue trumps decision threatens to further strain the relationship among the allies the u.s. provides a large share of nato is military capabilities but u.s. presidents have long called for germany to increase defense spending president trump faces reelection this year and it's not clear if he can persuade his own government to greenlight the troop pullout week even members of his own party are against the plan. nato correspondent teri schultz is following the story for us from brussels terry good evening to you the u.s. ambassador to nato kay bailey hutchinson i said that the plans for this withdrawal aren't yet set in stone what does that mean that this is really not a done deal yet. nobody seems to know for sure and of course everybody except
8:10 pm
probably russian president vladimir putin is hoping that this can be a reversible decision because until president trump made these remarks yesterday it didn't seem clear that he had really made up his mind he's been advised against it by all of his military advisors in the u.s. allies have been advising him against this move germany of course has expressed its unhappiness with this so whether or not president trump is able to actually make concrete plans to pull the troops out where they would go where the equipment would go remains to be seen and certainly nato is hoping that it is not a done deal but even kay bailey hutchison didn't seem to be sure she said that she didn't have any details on a timeline on how and when this might happen while the decision wouldn't just affect germany and u.s. troops in the country are really part of the alliances broader strategy tell us more about that. that's right i mean 10000 troops aren't going to make
8:11 pm
a difference overall when when you've got 30 countries in nato you can certainly make up the troops it's more the image the image of having u.s. troops well integrated well trained well equipped to u.s. troops right in the in the heart of europe that is a deterrent factor and it's also the decision was handled in this way without consultation with nato secretary general stoltenberg without consultation with germany that's as damaging as pulling out 10000 troops to be sure and i think that that's one of the things that nato is concerned about that this was not handled in a cohesive matter this is a manner this is not handled in a way that you would treat your friends and that of course is damaging to the alliances as any small removal of troops but the other point to me is really that the u.s. uses germany as a staging ground as a training ground as one of its best equipped hospitals in the world in germany so it's really not clear to anybody what the u.s.

thinks that strategic interest would be in pulling these troops out of germany when president trump has been talking about redeploying some of those troops from germany east to poland and closer to russia what would that mean for nato is relationship with moscow. i'm not sure how how well developed those plans actually are because how would you rebuild all of these very longstanding structures that you have in germany and transfer all the capacities to poland and build it from the ground up where are you going to get the money to do that so it's unclear whether that's a really well formed plan he often says things to be provocative in poland tends to like to get the u.s. support it's already you know offered for trump so this would not be unprecedented that poland would be talking about taking in some of the u.s. capacity moving from other places but there is an agreement between nato and russia called the nato russia founding act the promise is that nato troops will not be permanently positioned that close to the russian border so this would just be
8:13 pm
another excuse moscow would have for causing tension with nato and i don't think anybody wants to see that so i'm not sure that that's a plan that would really go forward for all of the reasons that i just mentioned nato correspondent teri schultz for us good to talk to you. when the sega football now and byron in a can wrap up an 8th straight league title when they visit better braman tonight byron have won their last 10 league games and are 7 points ahead of 2nd place darkman was just 3 games to go. for many people the coronavirus has meant change and uncertainty not so by munich i didn't bring newsreader resumed after its pandemic and shut down by end of reimposed their grip on german football now just a win away from an 8th straight title a social distancing might scupper this year's celebrations we have on my list of a hadn't missed we want to become champions if we reach our goal then of course we
