and in the u.s. president trump's campaign team predicted a huge turnout for bradley in oklahoma who was to blame for the n.t. says it's. a math anyhow and welcome germany's coronavirus reproduction right has jumped to 2.8 amidst a huge outcry at a make packing plant in the northwest of the country that number maine's that one infected person is on average infecting at least 3 other more than 1300 workers have tested positive for corona virus at this one factory with 7000 more now forced to quarantine in the surrounding area. coronavirus cases in germany had long been in decline but here at the toonie as meat packing plant in dishes still the virus
3:02 am
is making a comeback over 1300 employees have tested positive for covert 196500 workers and family members have been sent into quarantine. the factory has been shot at north rhine-westphalia state premia arm in lash it visited the site on sunday. gums not on this trial and in north rhine-westphalia infection numbers have gone down by over 75 percent since we reopened but here in the glitches slow district we have a concentrated explosion in the numbers which are closely linked to the meat industry and it is not the 1st time that meat packing plants have become hotbeds of infection in germany the latest incident has intensified the debate over health and safety of the workers many of the employees come from eastern europe and live and work in cramped conditions their plight might now have wider implications.

of this is also if this can be found at this specific company and so it is still the case that we are unable to rule out a wider lockdown looked on the moment finished listen conan. it has been one of the loudest proponents for a swift end to lockdown midges now he faces the prospect of being forced into a humiliating. well for more on this i'm joined in the studio by reporter federica federica this is not the 1st time without a coronavirus outbreak in a slaughterhouse in germany why is it that history is repeating that's right and sunny i mean we've seen similar outbreaks for example just a few weeks ago at another meat processing plant called best fleisch in western germany but also in france in the u.s. and this is really shedding light on an underlying problem here which is the dire
3:04 am
living and working conditions that many of the employees of these plants have to endure in the case of germany many of them are migrant workers and they come from neighboring e.u. eastern countries such as rumania poland or of bulgaria and in many cases they are not employed directly by the companies by. contractors which are they then are more exposed to exploitations and they live in very low wages they also often live in crammed dorms and that's of course then a perfect breeding ground for the virus the thing is now that this is not a new problem it's been in germany's re there for quite some time and authorities have been quite slow to act germany's meat industry is one of the most profitable in the country so these companies are also very powerful and they say that they have to rely on these up contractors in order to keep germany's needs so cheap it's

such a concentrated hotspot how was this affecting germany's coronavirus numbers. well as you mentioned mainly because of these one cluster in attorneys at the time this plant the. infection rate now has jumped to $2.00 which means one person could infect almost $300.00 people and that's of course bad news if we consider that forward to have been stressing the importance of keeping that infection rate under one in order to keep the disease under control however the robert institute germany's public health institute has also stressed that this spike in infections really there they're limited it's limited to those local clusters whereas in the country as a whole for now still has the numbers number of infections under control for now at least for the record budget thank you very much

gathering evidence from the shops destroyed overnight more than 20 people arrested during the violence and now being questioned. right now to some of the other stories making news this hour. in serbia president alexander of which claimed a landslide victory in parliamentary elections the center progressive party looks set to take more than 60 percent of the vote many opposition parties boycotted citing unfair conditions and the danger to public health. spain has ended a 3 month long coronavirus lock down most of its borders with a un showing in countries reopened on sunday some restrictions still remain and mosques are required in shops and on public transport spying suffered one of europe's boost outbreaks of the virus. us president donald trump held his 1st reelection campaign in 3 months in tulsa oklahoma on saturday the indoor event went
3:09 am
ahead despite concerns that it might spark a fresh run of ours out trump was in night defiant mood but the much hyped event was mobbed by low turnout something trump saved was down to media coverage of coverage 19 and protest is blocking attendees from getting access. all day doubly correspondent stephanie was at the trump rally in tulsa i spoke with him earlier and i asked both whether trump supporters really will block from getting into the venue and i also asked how a campaign by tick-tock uses figures into the story. i can tell you that no protesters were able to block anything here i was standing on denver street right in front of the arena where the rally happened yesterday and nobody was blocked the secret service police is that run and a half a dozen other agencies they made sure that nobody blocked entry for trump supporters to come to the arena so no that's bogus nobody blocked some supporters from entry not to take talk apparently there was
3:10 am
a massive amount of talk users and social media users young americans who managed to reserve tickets for them or are as we've pete they are sleepy that they would come and have never actually planned to come here and that might have triggered the campaign charm campaign to say we have a 1000000 requests for tickets is that. they are of course nixing this now they're shooting back and say like no they have sophisticated systems to filter out bogus telephone numbers and orders is that right so that's wasn't it they weren't and anyway cibo blocked but that leaves of course then the question ok so why didn't 900000 or even more people show up here now it's reported was about 7000 people who actually made it into the arena. it's going to be an interesting 2 days to sort this we all know that donald trump likes big numbers and he didn't perform at all
3:11 am
in terms of big numbers yesterday so what it does if nothing else to set the stage for months to go until the presidential election what i saw one that can be a night that the current polls in the count situation point to something more serious in mr trump's campaign to get reelected. yeah hugh mention it the polls half donald trump down and lacking behind in a wide gap lacking behind democrats presidential candidate joe biden. that is serious for the president and that is why that is why he was itching to get out to restart or invigorate his campaign now with yesterday's tulsa events now that didn't really work out not at all actually everybody is talking here about empty seats now and who is blocking protesters well that's not the narrative the president actually wanted to tell he wanted to come out strong out of the gate and
3:12 am
show how successfully is by bringing a lot of people together meaning that he will have the votes in november now that is different and hillary clinton and joe biden is different to people in 2016 really really really didn't like hillary clinton well this is joe biden not to say that he is beloved by everybody but it is joe biden and not hillary clinton. stephanie months it's going to be a very interesting 4 months in from tulsa oklahoma thank you very much. and finally something personal from us here at de w. news it's exactly 5 years ago today that we launched our new channel here in the studio since then we've produced around 30000 news shows for you covering all the major world events of the last decade is a look at some of the most dramatic developments with witnessed as well as some of the funny ones. this is the c.w.
