a pig like a pig in a small hole. more than 700 people are living behind these fences a forced a lockdown that has struck to the sick and the healthy together. and you get banned from twitter for posting u.s. president trump that's what one user set out to find. and the results may surprise you. i'm sorry kelly welcome to the program we begin with breaking news look tons of shareholders have voted in favor of the german government's 9000000000 euro rescue package for the airline the government bailout will make the german taxpayer the biggest shareholder of the country's largest carrier with a 20 percent stake now lufthansa has struggled to stay alive as the coronavirus

crisis disrupts air travel across the globe. the shareholders weren't exactly happy about it but you turned it it was bankruptcy for the company and its 138000 employees the reason was clear. we have run out of money we're living from the reserves we set aside in good years without support bankruptcy is looming earlier in the day the european commission approved the rescue plan then the shareholders gave their blessing including lufthansa's biggest shareholder billionaire heinz him until who had been skeptical the deal clears the way for a 9000000000 euro government rescue plan the state will receive 20 percent of lufthansa shares berlin can also increase its stake to avoid hostile takeovers it's a heavy price to pay. because the bill is asian package is not a gift we have to work hard to pay it back it will be an enormous burden to pay the

interest and pay back the loan. this is particularly true because no one is expecting a speedy recovery in the aviation market 80 percent of lufthansa's airplanes are still grounded experts say it will be at least 3 years before the crisis is behind the industry and things will be different climate will be a smaller loved ones a group then with around $100.00 fewer aircraft and a much slimmer structure to tons of has already closed some of its subsidiaries and has warned it will have to slash thousands of jobs the company is negotiating wages with unions cabin crew have agreed to take a 17 percent pay cut through the coronavirus crisis pilots will have to make similar sacrifices. and more now with business reporter rob watts so a big sigh of relief here yeah undoubtedly i mean the management of towns are ahead of this vote were practically begging the shareholders to back this 9000000000 euro

package saying that they were voting on nothing short of the survival of the dancer so they'll have been very relieved to see shareholders vote overwhelmingly i mean overwhelmingly 98 percent in favor of this bailout package so there will be a great deal of relief in fact we heard that already a statement from lufthansa saying that they thanked the shareholders and they promised to make this work what's in the package well so we talk about the 9000000000 well $6000000000.00 of that is just money that needs to survive you know it's losing a $1000000.00 euros a day according to the company itself there's another $33000000000.00 even which is guarantees on public land so you know getting money for this not just from the government but the governments from the county but it keep. if it is just this 300000000 euros that the government is paying to get a 20 percent stake in law so shareholders are having the essentially diluted side

is a result of that but it means that the government if you wanted to could get a little bit more involved in the running of the times and not everyone is happy with the arrangement that oh absolutely not someone who particularly against it is the c.e.o. of ryanair who said the this is absolutely out of order it's completely unfair that an e.u. member state is flouting competition rules to bail out an airline that's not in enough trouble to need bailing out like this according to him so he's actually planning to contest the use approval of this deal which can stay as well as the shareholder approval and of course there are those shareholders who are a little bit wary about giving away too much control to the german government i've watched from the business thank you. let's take a look now at some other news stories from around the world well german financial service provider wire card has filed for insolvency after disclosing that almost 2000000000 euros of vanished from its books the company's former c.e.o.

since taking office the us president has become famous for his social media tirades especially on twitter trump's no holds barred rants against the press rival leaders and former staff members among other things have not only prompted criticism of him social media platforms have also come under fire for not removing trump's comments inline with their own professional hate anti hate speech rules one social media user has gone further and decided to test the application of those rules let's bring in erin tilton who is here in the studio to fill us in so this sounds really intriguing what exactly has this person getting up to and why ok we're talking about a little experiment here based on an account called suspend the president basically what this twitter user set out to find out is if a normal person could actually get banned from the service by quoting the president verbatim basically the accusation is that the president regularly violates the
8:08 pm
terms of service and when it comes to comments that provoke hate speech racial division and also calls to violence and the reason they allow him to do that is because he's the president i did states so what the person behind the surprise the suspend the president basically started doing was quoting quoting and tweeting out tweets verbatim and within 3 days their account was actually suspended for violating twitter's terms of service in fact it's happened to. weiss now they have managed to get suspended from the service twice by just quoting the president one of the quotes one of the tweets in question was a quote a tweet criticizing john bolton the former security advisor and the other one was the now infamous when the looting starts the shooting starts tweet and basically what it kind of goes to show you is that it does appear that twitter is really using a double standard when it comes to in implementing its own terms of service so what it's better than saying that well regarding this experiment specifically they had initially deleted one of the tweets they actually admitted that was a mistake they had they said they actually had done it in error and reactivated it
8:09 pm
but when it comes to these types of transgressions they're saying rather mum i mean basically you have to remember that twitter really benefits from a lot of the attention that the president is drawing to their platform and you know they've said in the past that the terms of service really apply to your everyday average user but when it comes to people of national interest it's of interest to the population if they're engaging in hate speech if they are calling to violence it's you know it's newsworthy it's why we talk about it as a media organization as well and they're saying that that popularity kind of makes them exempt but what we're seeing now in the face of these black lives matter of protests in the face of the anti vacs movement in the face a lot of a lot of the misinformation we're seeing around the quoted price is that a lot of users are trying to push back against that there's a lot of criticism against this law is a fair attitude that these tech companies have and that these social media companies have and it seems that a lot of users aren't really willing to take it at least not to the same extent as they have in years past the person behind the suspend the pres account what's their
8:10 pm
next well when we were speaking to them they said they actually viewed it as rather successful up to this point i mean they did get the account suspended twice and they were just using the president's words they said we're going to keep it up and that the results speak for themselves and you have to remember you know were in the election cycle right now we're only a couple months away from the next presidential election the united states and trump is massively down in the polls he is a long way to get back to the point where he needs to be if you want to stay in the white. house and you know he's proven time and time again he's the type of person who likes to throw gasoline to the fire when his back is up against the wall so i would expect he's going to be more than happy to provide more ammunition for those to spend the president when it comes to testing twitter's terms of service ribbon support and thank you thank you. france and germany who have announced that they will increase their financial backing of the world health organization in its fight against the coronavirus berlin said that it would contribute a record half a 1000000000 euros in funding this year that's an additional $41000000.00 to its

conditions that fueled the spread of the virus now many say conditions under quarantine are also inhumane locked in and desperate 5 days ago these people were placed under quarantine to stop a corona virus outbreak that originated at a local meat processing plant but instead of just ordering the close to $700.00 residents to stay indoors and practice so sial distancing the authorities barricaded them in. i feel like a pig like a pig in a small hole we have a family we have a family. officials say the fence is meant to give residents a chance to get fresh air while in isolation but it also means those infected with the coronavirus are quarantining alongside those who tested negative the living conditions inside the building smic disease control practically impossible.

some of the apartments i lived in were very clean but there were exceptions as well it was always very cramped sometimes there were 1012 or even 14 people in a single flat. or the 10 year slaughterhouses widely blamed for the outbreak that originated in their local plant and led to the area wide lockdown authorities demand they take full financial responsibility for the crisis the company is currently providing food for their workers trapped behind the fences only a slight relief for a worried community. yet they ask questions of course and i would do that too if a fence suddenly appeared around my house for how long we tested negative why should we suffer as well they ask about tanya's and many also ask i don't work attorney as i work somewhere else why am i included to. our budget of chronic quite a few maternity job out of our notes moment by concerns that grow louder every day
