w. . this is. from berlin tonight into a reminder that going on vacation is no vacation from social distancing on the spanish party island of majorca hundreds are again packing the bars and beaches ignoring guidelines germany's health minister warning their reckless reveling could trigger a 2nd wave of the us also coming up tonight after a sharp spike in new coronavirus cases of south africa imposes a curfew and bans the sale of alcohol again and the washington redskins
9:01 pm
no longer the washington redskins will talk about the connections between racism and a name change. it's good to have you with us we begin tonight with a warning there could be a renewed outbreak of the coronavirus if tourists let their guard on vacation germany's health minister young spawn says that he's a law armed by images of germans flouting social distancing guidelines while partying on the beaches of majorca spahn says the danger of a 2nd wave is real and he is urging tourists to follow the rules. on my own beaches holiday make us enjoy the sun and the fresh breeze but at night all the coronavirus related rules seem forgotten on the potty strip the so-called tourists
9:02 pm
drinking and dancing with few face masks and little social distancing to be seen. german health minister spahn has expressed concern. of course in this that we have to be very careful that the balance man doesn't become a 2nd. what i mean by that is the risk of infection is particularly high when people don't stick to the rules. if the austrian ski resort was one of the 1st coronavirus hot spots from our praise ski parties the virus started to spread all over a year. the health minister urged holiday makers to save vigilant in order to prevent new infections. when i see pictures from the baltic sea resorts and there is a breeze and everyone's looking out for one another bit i don't get nervous because . that is when i see people partying and drinking out of the same bottles when
9:03 pm
people are hugging that of course increases the risk as musical. said he understood that tourists are impatient after months of lockdown but that their behavior would increase the risk of spreading coronavirus and potentially trigger a 2nd wave of infections are. when your card she's a reporter for the majorca daily bulletin based on the spanish island. when do so we just saw there are a lot of partying going on apparently without any social distancing what are the locals saying about this. you know they're really worried brant because the fact is we have one of the strictest lock downs in the whole of europe everybody abided by it there were very few infractions and now we're in a situation where we have hundreds and hundreds of english and german tourists just doing whatever they want and not giving
9:04 pm
a damn about the locals and the police are not they say the police are not doing enough so it's a it's a really difficult situation because we meet tourism and new yorker is the lifeblood of the island but at the same time houses more important so it's a very difficult balance to to get right and at the moment as we saw at the weekend friday saturday and sunday party town electra in center no social distancing people drinking out of the same bottles passing them around to strangers that they didn't know. how the gang kids dancing in the streets and not really giving any credence at all to the rules that have been set here and i don't know whether things like the minister changed today because your rules now you've got these rules now on a party island new york is known for being a party island where the local authorities were the naive in thinking that holiday makers would stick to the rules. well you know there's
9:05 pm
a lot more to majorca than just people who party that's 2 to specific areas of majorca where that you have magaluf on one side of the island and you have had a problem on the other side of the island they both are party destinations but the rest of the island is not like that at all the rest of the island is very quiet very local and is very subdued and people respect each other so there's only those 2 areas that really that are the problem but the thing is that the crowds now have become so huge in the past couple of days that the police are finding it hard to cope so they are sending in elite forces to deal with the crowds in part of our minds and that my belief to try and quite things down here they've also brought in a raft of other rules masks are now compulsory in public spaces and it is $100.00 euro fine if they don't wear
9:06 pm
a mask in the 1st couple of days is probably going to be a bit of leeway but after that now it would be very stretched ok is also strict new proposals on parties as well that there's a lot of illegal parties going on in the streets raves happening because the bars have been told that maybe must close at 2 o'clock in the morning instead of like normal it's 5 or 6 in the morning ok when they are card on the special and of majorca with the leaders there about the pandemic and party goers and holiday makers when you thank you thank you. south africa's president ramaphosa has reimposed a ban on alcohol sales and is bringing back a national curfew the government's loosened one of the world's strict lockdown setting off a sharp spike in cases of coke at 90 south africa is going through stormy times not only in terms of the weather in 1000 cases like hundreds of thousands of south african lost jobs because of the lock down the economy is shrinking and then on
9:07 pm
sunday the president's made an announcement that shocked those who like to draw on their frustration with a glass of wine while beer now decided that the sale the dispensing and the distribution of alcohol would be suspended with immediate effect. there is. now clear evidence that the resumption of alcohol. has resulted in some pressure being put on hospitals. including trauma and i.c.u. in south africa already banned the sales of alcohol in the early stages of the lock down but the industry pushed for reopening warning of massive job losses what happened off towards the hospital admissions went up significantly about 17000 alcohol related trauma admissions in hospitals were recorded every week that's why for now the liquor stores throughout the country remain closed again and i cannot
9:08 pm
change to me to be straightforward i'm not going to be rude i think it's terrible i think it's realistically because in the leaking industry is not only the people working in the bottle store there's about a 1000000 people now that all have to be at home now i don't call it that most dangerous thing that is what people are always fighting people like they ladies who are a woman who are violated every time just because of uncle so i support the president did put in that was very good he's done nothing the president also announced tonight curfew and stricter controls to enforce the wearing of face masks but many here fear that this might not be enough to weather the storm off corona virus there's still a massive leg off intensive care units testing kits and a shortage of about $12000.00 health care workers. it's a drink which they're reporting from south africa here's some of the other stories now that are making headlines around the world european union foreign ministers have met in person for the 1st time in months they discuss taking measures against

china over the controversial new security law imposed from hong kong human rights concerns in turkey were also on the agenda today in brussels kosovo president is being questioned by war crimes prosecutors at the hague they accuse him of crimes. man of the during kosovo's 1990 s. uprising against serbia speaking today outside the court thought she said that nobody can rewrite history and that he stands for quote truth reconciliation and peace. or he has won the election again polish president to injury due to is headed for a 2nd 5 year term following sunday's election with nearly all the votes counted of the conservative incumbent has won just over 51 percent beating out his rival the liberal mayor of warsaw. on sunday well before all the votes were tallied with just a razor thin lead president duda seemed confident he'd win now after

a campaign fueled by anti european anti german sentiment he's striking a more conciliatory tone isn't it go could be a person by if anyone was offended by anything i did or said in the last 5 years not just during the campaign please accept my apology as if it's the only way i want to assure you that i have respect for you just like i have respect for all my compatriots irrespective of their views of. this from a man who is a law and with the governing right wing populist law and justice party they've made no secret of their dislike for foreigners sexual minorities and the free press. just 3 points short challenger rough tough ski from the centrist civic platform party his showing is seen as proof of a growing opposition in this deeply divided country he ran on a platform of pro european liberal and tolerant values. oh.
9:11 pm
you know that's a nominee yes it's only the beginning i'm convinced we will change poland that now that we have woken up that no one will put us to sleep my balls and what's most important to me will continue fighting in south irrespective of the result. due to israel action gives the law and justice party a shot at governing for another 5 years during this time they aim to push through controversial justice reforms putting them on a collision course with the e.u. . for the n.f.l. football team the washington redskins has officially confirmed it will change its name in allison fall is renewed protests over the redskins tag which is considered offensive to native american communities the team's owner previously stated that he would never change the name but he has reconsidered after pressure from sponsors something publicly requested a change in the wake of the lines matter protests. joining
9:12 pm
me here in the studio now the big table is my colleague chris harrington from do you have news for it's chris as we mentioned the owner dan snyder he said back in 2013 he would never change the name he actually said you could put that in caps as well never but you know that's the pressure of profit potential profit you know the big sponsor that 1st put out the warning that they would take their name off of the stadium is fed ex they play at fed ex field they have about 8 years left on a contract they already paid $200000000.00 for the naming rights and then other companies followed suit the n.f.l. is the world's richest sports league the bottom line always matters you know and it just shows the influence i mean the native american community has been screaming racism for nearly 40 decades money in the pressure that caused and started to move that that's the point right it's the dollar that pushes the reform and change more
9:13 pm
than the actual the calls from the minority communities what is the legacy of this team in washington regarding native americans and minorities well the name itself is offensive that was known but the founder of the team the washington redskins you know he was adamant about keeping the n.f.l. all white he did not want to. integrate the n.f.l. he was the last team to do so that was the last franchise to do so and it only did so after the kennedy administration put pressure on him to do so because he was publicly funded in certain respects you know so that caused him you know to do that george preston marshall was the founder and since then the last month he had a monument in front of the old stadium that was taken down he's been completely scrubbed from all of the official records there try to rewrite history in let's hope it goes in the right direction and she wondered why would why would someone who was obviously raises want it seem to have a name that is connected to a non white person or are the native americans you know that's
9:14 pm
a question you know for the ages either it's hard to figure it out but it started off originally as the braves and i think that the redskins was just a derivative of that you know kind of in a similar area but nonetheless you know the response has been mixed most people think it's about tottenham some feel that why does it take a worldwide movement to get this done this has been an issue for our community the native american community for decades new names have been thrown out there yeah a few names out there the warriors is one a matter of fact here's a fun fact dan snyder you know owns the rights to that name the washington warriors i don't think he filed the correctly with the trademark office so that's still up in the air a few other names thrown out there the senators it's been examining make sense and also the red tails now the red tails is something taken from world war 2 there was a segregated army and the airmen from to university painted the tails of their planes after greylock and african-american males right you know that had to fight
9:15 pm
