another marchers galvanized by the death of one of their comrades and really checksums work with them. as an activist they decided that they were going to march to my governor and i hate i can bank and on that sunday in march back in 65 they marched 2 by 2 along the sidewalk along across this bridge and of course you can't see the other side to get to the top of the bridge and when they did they saw the alabama state trooper to worst some of them and of course have been given orders to keep them and keep them calm going at us so in this particular instance this was a moment in which john lewis who is leading those who choose was really. taken at the forefront of the movement and of course he was among the 1st to compete and by the troopers and beaten badly. it works actual blood on this bridge on that day.
7:07 pm
now kyle some of our viewers may not be aware of this but the bridge is actually named after edmund pettus who is a leader of the ku klux klan and a white supremacist now i found this very surprising how is that possible. yes not only was he a grand dragon in the ku klux klan which of course is a high ranking official in that organization he was a confederate general and he was a senator from the from a u.s. senator from alabama representing. number instead of the morals of the 1st across the south and in alabama in particular and this particular bridge i've been named let me have a scrimmage at 65 at the time but the march happened and of course across a number of times in the past year or so there'd been titian's that had been online asking of the spirit be renamed to congressman john lewis but my reporting in selma and the number of members that i've talked to community say that they actually even

fresh outbreaks while trying to reopen their economies. for more let's bring in journalist richard fitzpatrick who is in barcelona hello to you richard so the u.k. is foreign secretary says they've there's been a big jump in cases all over spain but the spanish government insists that the outbreak are localized under control so which account is more accurate. you'd have to say the british account is more accurate unfortunately the spanish. economy has reopened especially with regards to tourism and that's the big motor of there are economists and so that has brought in problems with social distancing in particular and you also have other causes for the increase increases for jobs that are up to treat. the rate of infections from 2 weeks ago so it's very alarming
7:13 pm
and the big problem here is that the contact tracing isn't effective so that's why . it's correct to suggest that the virus is getting out of control and the government as a result has warned that we're close to reentering a state of emergency in the country. we know that spain was among the countries hardest hit by corona virus in europe and they as we've said opened up just a month ago after a very strict lockdown are people in spain worried about a 2nd wave of infection. there are very worried particularly in the tourist sector as we suggest it's so important for the economy one and 7 euros that's generated here comes from tourism and also the big retail shops and all these businesses that feed in to to that environment
7:14 pm
and people are droplets after spending so much time in locked down in march and april to at the top and to to reenter it in their face and locked on this is really really troubling scoots reopening is just around the corner as well so that's troubling parents so that there's a great great worry at the same time people are trying to get on with their lives because there's been such a fatigue with the pandemic which has been ongoing no for 4 months in the country so it's a problem and balancing the 2 sides. now richard you're in barcelona are you seeing how authorities have reintroduced ever strike shows are they being a forest. yeah it's difficult to say on the one hand they are and spain was very successful with its knock down in march and april in policing and enforcing that so now that we have reintroduced restrictions in the city of barcelona for example they are very strict in some aspects for example the mosque where it is
7:15 pm
