parliament the government's resignation had been a key demand of protesters. for more on this i'm joined now. from the d.w. arabic desk amal welcome to the show and this is an important moment for a lebannon but protesters want more they're asking for fundamental reforms how is this possible in a country like lebanon where it's hard to find a political leader who is not associated in some way to the ruling oligarchies absolutely nicole we're reaching now a new political turmoil and levanon a country that's already been through various crises since the civil war period i mean the war that ended without holding anyone responsible for their crimes committed a war that almost all the ruling class that we see at the moment in levanon have participated in so indeed it's hard to find anyone in this political political
7:03 pm
class the ruling class that hasn't taken part in any crimes during the war it's definitely not very difficult to find anyone who's outside of this political there are definitely people academics and people who have the ability to rule this country however the political formula upon which the ruling establishment is set up makes it difficult for people outside the confessional system and in confessional classifications actually infiltrate into the government we've witnessed a massive protest since 17th of october of last year so we've seen many new faces expressing their anger and so on but also many faces that have the ability to be in political leadership positions lebanon is a country hurting after the explosions it's a country do. solution with the political class what do the lebanese people need
7:04 pm
right now i mean we just have to go to the streets of beirut at the moment and listen to what the protesters are calling for the resignation of the government is not enough for the people the government is not the sole responsible according to them for the latest explosion the top and it's about the ruling that's been taking over the politics of the country for the past 2 years and it's not the sole responsibility of the current government so definitely the current government nation today is not enough for the people they want to see more reforms they want justice they are calling for more justice and they definitely want to see change happening really soon in the country and what we see now from the seuss of beirut is that they're being confronted with police brutality as as this has been the case for the past few days. arabic this thank you very much thank you nicole.

analyst friend of the art short and asked him about the way police reacted to sunday's protests. i think police did use proportional force towards protesters most of them were peaceful they didn't bring any weapons and they didn't talk of a policeman and they rewrote ollie's did he use what they can and guns they didn't use gas or spray grenades or than 50 people are wounded in georgia several of them are in critical condition right now and more than 3000 people detained that's unprecedented and there is history and and i think that location case must be really scary here at the end when he behaves like a piece you know the real winner or popular vote who wouldn't behave. such harshly at the words it's his or her opponent. well russian journalist and analysts
