place in marches throughout the town police followed it immediately came to scuffles after the grand jury announced that there will be any charges no arrests no charges filed against any of those officers who were involved in shooting breo not everyone on taylor's 6 times to death. after that's what happened 46 arrests also i think this is number increased there were more arrests later on as well as 2 police officers actually got shot they are in hospital one is as we understand still in surgery but both. officers are not suffering from wounds which are endangering their lives we're told and of course police now is asking for help public help in finding finding more out about who shot them they have one suspect in custody. have an elaborate for us if you will a little bit about this decision that spock states protests why would none of the offices charged with murder or even months. excellent question
8:04 am
and i don't have an easy or simple answer for you because i don't know. law experts don't know that the attorney of the taylor family doesn't really know and had to succumb to saying like this is a total disgrace this decision the attorney general of the state of kentucky has said he followed the law the state law and there was no room and no space allowing him to charge any of those officers directly and that is key here directly to the death of briona taylor that's why we already have a charge off and danger meant in the 1st degree and 3 counts of this for one officer the other 2 weren't even charged that is literally no charge you can't see any of the law enforcement involved in the death of briana taylor and of course this is not sitting well with anybody here people actually at the absolute last how

says it's unfair nobody knows exactly who can go in or out or what is still allowed . for a year because is a poor neighborhood where many live in overcrowded conditions that resulted in one of the highest infection. it's in the city 6 times higher than more prosperous districts in the north many residents in by yet because have to travel to madrid to return neighborhoods for work often as cleaners or waiters many workers say the near rules are unreasonable. if they're not aware it's shameful so i have to take the metro to go to work i could infect myself or others what's the point of these measures. it's completely unjust other areas have also many cases only a lockdown in the whole of madrid would make sense. many in the south of madrid

bellerose says hardline later alexander lukashenko has been sworn in for another term in a secret ceremony when the news came out his opponents once again took to the streets the anti-government movement has gained momentum since last month's election which activists clime was raked. in this secret inauguration longtime authoritarian leader alexander lukashenko attempted to snatch a 6th term as president of bello roots all pomp and circumstance and no protesters in the. carriage and dependents palace in the heart of minsk. north calls for an end to his 26 year grip on power and took the oath of office before distinguished guests and the military whom he sang for saving the nation. maybe some of us today don't understand what happened but i'm sure that in

a short period of time all of you standing in front of me well understand that you save the world on this piece of land you defended the sovereignty of our country rooted in. this ceremony doesn't match what's happening on the streets of men and around the country for the past 6 weeks thousands took to the streets after the swearing in demanding luka shingo step down they believe the august election was a rig they say bellow reuss will never have democracy as long as lucas should go as president. so we're tired of the law listeners in this country we want fair elections we deserve better than we've seen over the past 26 years. where disgusted it really hurts how could he hold this inauguration secretly from the people he promised to protect us but in reality all he cares about is his riot police it's over he's no one to us anymore. exiled opposition leaders that led us

to. call there not be rationed a farce i. want we all understand what's happened it was an attempt by luke wishing to call himself illegitimate leader which only means that his previous mandate has ended and the country hasn't given him a new one up. for now protesters and lucas shingo continue to fight for their differing versions of the future of this. data connelly is in minsk forest nick nice to see you or apple as protests yesterday what was your impression were extraordinary scenes yesterday kind of pitched battles and then people just spread across the whole city as soon as the police came to take 101520 people away in one of those police vans it becomes so characteristic of events 5 minutes later more people out in the streets the police force to come back time and time again
8:12 am
just to try to block streets people who. think their horns we saw a new level of violence this is kind of violence we haven't seen here but ever since that rigged election in early august people just really angry i think there was a sense of disbelief at those images of the inauguration no one could quite believe that he was doing this facade the real it seems an issue like a joke or maybe a dress rehearsal when it became clear that this it happened without even a single foreign dignitary present not even the russian ambassador invited people just couldn't quite believe that after a month of ignoring the protests in the streets he would then go to claim himself president but it definitely wasn't a dress rehearsal lukashenko is clinging to power obviously but many european countries including germany no longer recognize him as the the gentleman president of belarus how much pressure is that putting on him. it's definitely symbolically a hugely important move in they had been quite of worry on the european side that this inability of the e.u. to organize sanctions would you know be
8:13 am
a significant blow to the opposition but i think most importantly for the people here on the street of minsk is that news that most of his western neighbors poland as well as germany baltic states the u.s. is made a similar announcement ukraine do not recognize him as belarus as president that is a real blow something that people see as support of their protests and of their demands i think realistically now he is in a very tight space he has as we saw in the report basically thrown his lot in with his security services he thanked them for basically dealing with the people in the streets who he called trash he basically now needs to see if he has the money to really keep on paying the huge bonuses he's having to pay to keep those right police loyal reports here of people in the security sosa earning several times the normal salary and silence of the government is running out of cash trying to save money on other things in the hope of being able to really keep that core of security services loyal and on side it's not clear if the army is really willing to use force against the population especially given that these protests are not just
8:14 am
in minutes they're not just on the weekends and not just in the downtown they are now everywhere they're in people's residential districts you see flags hanging on balconies every time the government comes take them down there a place the following day i think this is a very difficult situation he finds himself after a quarter of a century in power. in minsk for us thanks very much for the update. a french singer as cole whose career spanned over half a century has died at the age of 93 a family sacred coal was still making french songs shine until 4 years ago when she suffered a stroke that put an end to her career after world war 2 she became part of the intellectual circles around the writer and philosopher. and the novelist albert come in but it is for his singing that she is will be mostly remembered. oh here's a reminder of the top story we're following for you demonstrations of break out
