i'm sara kelly welcome to the program a cord in greece has found the leaders of the country's far right golden dawn party guilty of running a criminal organization they face up to 15 years in prison a supporter of the group was also convicted of the murder of an anti-fascist rapper in 2013 now outside of the courthouse police fired tear gas and scuffles broke out at a rally attended by fowles of anti fascist protesters the guilty verdicts capped a marathon 5 year trial with almost 70 defendants. and joining us live now we have journalist m.p. kara savage in athens and anthony m.p. excuse me what more can you tell us. well this is being called this was being called actually in to this verdict was handed down the biggest trial against a fascist organization since the nurnberg try and it was supposed to last 18 months

but it's dragged on 5 and a half years and much of that is due to the sclerotic antiquated system here a very slow paced system of justice here but also because as this trial kind of hit greece at the height of its economic crisis at some point in the beginning they couldn't find a proper court house other times the resources were just so. they couldn't find a projector to project evidence damning evidence against this group and one circumstance when i was there they called off the hearing simply because there was no heating but eventually after so many years it has managed to render a decision and it is a decision that appears to be at least it's a relief and support of many groups here and what sort of implications does this decision have for the government now. the government really it is in effect to because justice has done its has paid its role. and in fact the ruling
