tone jarred with a country in crisis. the contrast with democratic nominee joe biden couldn't have been stuck on visited another battleground state one of several a socially distance events across ohio he attacked trump's handling of the pandemic that's donald trump's presidency 250000 dead because of group experts say we're likely to lose another 200000 people in the next few months unless we take some serious action and he doesn't know what he's doing. all because this president's only worried about one thing the stock market he refused to follow the science it's estimated that we just warned these mass nationally we'd save over 100000 lives between now and the end of the year. biden himself is now heading to florida with the election day just 3 weeks away both campaigns are in

overdrive. well let's bring in d w is william glue croft william trump seems to be in fighting form again what are his doctors saying and when trump says to the american people that i'm going to get the same treatment for you that i got should they believe him well that's would be a difficult claim as as is the fact that he's negative his doctors did say before the florida event that he was negative but there's a lot of questions about exactly what kind of tests and how many tests and when the who the hows and wherefores of him being negative are still very much a matter of speculation there's thought that he was only getting these rapid tests which are far less reliable than a p.c.r. test that's a p.c.r. test that you need to show your negative to really claim and confirm that your negative and as far as the health insurance issue you know the united states has phenomenal health care but it has terrible health access you know america has great hospitals and doctors and research and medicines and if everybody got the kind of care that donald trump was able to get sure coronavirus might not be such
11:05 am
a big deal but if everybody in america was even theoretically able to have that kind of health care access it would also crush the health care system because not everyone can have that kind of interval individual eyes attention and all the medicines he got some of which for experimental so it's really a far cry to look at the kind of care the president got the kind of care that average americans get right when as we see in the senate right now with these judiciary committee hearings the main issue with this question the democrats are bringing up is health access and health care which is coming up to the supreme court that could be struck down as unconstitutional. trump is in florida has been in florida he's putting a lot of emphasis on that state he seems to feel he needs to win it how important is florida in this election i think anyone who follows presidential elections knows that florida is an important state an interesting state always causing some trouble for the campaigns you know the infamous case in 2000 where really came down to a few 100 votes in florida is
11:06 am
a very important state 29 electoral votes often razor thin margins regardless of who wins and that's because florida is a very diverse state you have a large jewish population of large l g b t 2 populations you have very rural conservative voters you have cuban vote a large cuban community and they tend to be the most conservative of latino voting groups so it's a very interesting diverse mix of people and that's what causes these razor thin margins but it should be noted that biden in a composite of polling is up $4.00 to $5.00 points in florida so regardless of the pictures that we saw there in the rally that might not be what many floridians are thinking so biden is looking pretty good and florida is looking pretty good over the whole country of course with some exceptions but overall biden has a strong lead over trump what does he need to do to keep it that's right biden is up nationally is up by about 10 points and in many of the key swing states he's up anywhere from 5 to 10 points right now it looks very difficult how this doesn't
11:07 am
stay as far as polling data goes doesn't stay in biden's favor biden would really have to put his foot in his mouth which she does have a history of doing we should note but would really have to do something insane for these kinds of polls to really change back towards trump's favor but we should also note that these polls were also in hillary clinton's favor 2016 and the probability is another another question a look at probability right now has trump excuse me as by then with about an 86 percent favor billy of winning this election which is better than hillary clinton that's a 16 when i was about a 7030 split between clinton and trump but we should by no means be calling the election 3 weeks before it actually happens 3 weeks is a long time and all of the ticks william gluco from our team covering the u.s. elections thanks so much. see a look at some other stories making headlines around the world today staying in the u.s. the senate there has opened hearings into the confirmation of president trump's supreme court nominee amy conan barrett. republicans are pushing to fill the vacant seat
11:08 am
for next month's election if confirmed barrett would reinforce the conservative tilt of america's highest court. severe flash flooding in cambodia has killed at least 10 people and forced thousands to evacuate seasonal rains have been exacerbated by profit storm to cross the region. thailand laos and vietnam also in effect. china is testing more than 9000000 residents in the city of qingdao after a small cluster of corona virus was detected authorities say more than 3000000 samples have already been collected in more of the of the more than 1000000 results so far received only 12 come back positive china says it's been largely coronavirus free since mid august with all reported cases coming from outside the country this latest outbreak has been linked to a hospital that had been treating imported coated cases. let's bring in
11:09 am
correspondent ts berlinger he's in beijing for us good to see him it is the national health commission said that quote the whole city will be tested within 5 days we're talking $9000000.00 people how's that supposed to happen. china has impressive testing capacities they have tested the whole city off one which had even slightly more people 11000000 not in 5 days but a few more what they do in these cases is they pool the samples and test them in batches and then if the whole batch is negative they can all be considered negative if that batch has one positive case then the whole batch will test positive and they will have to retest these samples. that way they can do a lot of process a lot they will off course get a lot of assistance from laboratories all over the country. the fact that they have
11:10 am
these singular outbreaks of course allows them to concentrate on these outbreaks and to get this testing done quickly and system that is paid in place in china where every household is registered to a committee also allows them to keep it pretty good track of who has already tested and who has not. the new cases materials that come just days after china's golden week holiday when people travel across the country are chinese authorities keeping track of all those people. well chinese authorities collect a lot of data for example every train ticket every plane ticket and every night spent in a hotel is registered in the police computers i don't know whether they are going to mobilize the state a for for this purpose they also have these apps everywhere where you need to
11:11 am
scan a code when you enter facility a restaurant or whatever shopping center and this app then theoretically registers you to that place and if there was somebody phone positive when we also visited that place they would theoretically be able to track you down now with these apps it's a bit more complicated because every province has their own and they're enforced sometimes more thoughtfully sometimes more leniently so i don't know whether these apps who do not really do geo tracking but only these registrations whether these apps will help them to find everybody who has potentially been in contact with these 12 cases or how many there will be turning out but there is a lot of data collection going on and tracking so far has really worked not to mount in cases that we've seen before at least spreads were brought under control alt brakes were brought under control quickly. but is thank you very much for
