relations in a new whisper it can deal leaving palestinians outraged. i'm jarid raid welcome to the program germany has passed a warring milestone in the corona virus pandemic a total of more than $10000.00 people have now died from cove at 19 in germany now this follows a shopped rise in cases in recent weeks a new record in daily new infections has also been saved in the past 24 hours with more than 14000 cases reported a grim milestone painful for every family it has touched germany has become the 6th european country to reach 10000 cope with 19 deaths. after a peak in mid april the daily death toll was much lower over the summer for most of july august and september corona deaths in any 24 hour period were in single
8:02 am
figures in the last 2 weeks the mortality rate has begun to rise sharply but there are hopes it may not return to the level it reached earlier this year we have very high death toll in the springtime especially for the elderly and now we have more rate is higher in the younger population and that explains why the mortality rate is lower because younger people do not succumb 19 they usually get sick sometimes also very severe is severely sick however the usually do not die compared with some other countries fewer people in germany have died from the disease the number of deaths per 1000000 of population is 120 neighboring france and seen more than 4 times that death rate meanwhile china and india have reported much lower numbers of fatalities by head of population those figures show germany may have dealt well

with the virus so far but infections are also rising again more steeply than deaths and experts are increasingly concerned as they look towards the coming months. we don't know how the inspection situation will develop we have to assume that the number of serious cases will increase and that the number of deaths will also runs . if that assumption proves correct many more funerals will have to be held under the shadow of covert 19. well joining me here is our political correspondent hans pond welcome hans what are the implications of germany passing this milestone of 10000 deaths well of course you can say that the figure of 10000 in some senses obert vary but it is a 5 digit figure and it's the 1st time germany has reached it it's simply another warning to the german population of the german authorities that this pandemic is still there is increasing in impact again that the number of cases is increasing
8:04 am
and as we've just heard from one of the experts what is likely is that the number of deaths is also going to increase and increase more quickly again because the number of infections is rising so quickly so it is a worrying situation authorities are more focused on a local level in getting cases does this mean that a nationwide lockdown probably isn't on the way in germany that's something that the authorities are doing everything possible to try and avoid a nationwide locked on is absolutely the measure of last resort in germany so what is happening in fact at the moment is that one is trying to target particular areas where the infection rate is particularly high most prominent at the moment is a section of bavaria in southern germany which has in fact imposed local locked on already and this kind of measures are likely to happen in other areas in germany as a number of infections increased we know that germany in the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic was largely spared from the scenes that we've seen elsewhere
8:05 am
in europe but now we are seeing a shop increase why is that. well this is the question that everyone's been asking all over the world in some sense i think in germany too you had the situation there during the summer time here in the northern hemisphere. people were becoming more relaxed they were outside the infection outside a much less likely to happen and this kind of relaxation extended into this autumn period period where people are more inside again having parties inside having set abrasions and started going into bars and pubs and clubs and as a result of this lack of care i think on the part of the population the number of infections has increased drastically ok our political correspondent on thank you hans well as we've just heard elsewhere in europe governments are scrambling to contain an alarming

i'm joined now by sami so-called he's a terrific journalist based in jerusalem it's good to see you sami what's been the reaction to this u.s. brokered deal between israel and saddam. and i can tell you that i've been very negative their reactions from the palestinian side the president abbas says office has a nice shit that a statement saying that this is. to all the resolutions of the arab league reminding the sudanese and others that according to the chords and agreements agreed upon by the arabs that israel should 1st with the droll from occupied territories and only then there should be this normalization the law and wage that we've heard from how my islamic jihad was even stronger against this
8:12 am
but i can tell you that if we compare it with the reactions towards the relations with the everetts and the raney's wealthy here about palestinians is that they still hope that the sudanese people that they the sudanese people who have been supporting the palestinians that they would have a different position and that it's still a. i think the you that on the israeli side of course does this support for this kind of step their recognition and so forth a big achievement for an authentic. summit as you say sudan is the 3rd arab country recently to establish ties with israel what does this mean from an international relations viewpoint what impact will distil have. well this will. been the is rarely a position. in the middle east in the arab world but also for because of the

location of this with we're talking not only about another arab and other muslim country but also about a country that is in africa and when many many countries in africa do not have relations with this route and this is a big breakthrough for is run at the same time there are also migrants who are living in israel there's a sudanese community all some of sudanese who fled from sudan who escaped through egypt to israel and there are silent seekers that never got to state the city is ready and it is or it is seeing this is an opportunity to expel them back to sudan and i can tell you many of them are very concerned they do though trust the sudanese government and they feel that their life might be even in danger. we have to look at the timing of this the november u.s. election is a little more than a week away is this a foreign policy victory for trump. no doubt no doubt the americans have been
8:14 am
pushing this to have this kind of a statement at this timing i can tell you that the israeli foreign ministry was not in the room at all the israeli foreign minister gabi ashkenazi did not know about this nance and this is a secret channel that was pushed by together with. vice and they were pushing to have it as soon as possible and then the next thing that they're talking now about is saudi arabia and the big question would be whether saudi arabia would make such an announcement ahead of the elections that would be a big game changer here in the middle east sami so call interest has been good to talk to you thank you you're watching news live from bellino be more headlines in 45 minutes don't forget you can always get the latest news on our web
