pennsylvania state that could very well decide the u.s. presidency. we're going to win this race the democrat all but claiming victory in the race for the white house we'll have the latest on the vote count. and change goodbye to an icon of the cold war. to close for good it may have been outdated and overcrowded but a lot of people are so sad to see it go. i'm
3:01 pm
joining us. more than 3 days after polls closed in the u.s. there is still no official winner of the u.s. election let's have a look at the results as they stand at the moment the overall picture hasn't shifted for quite some time now remember the candidate who gets 270 electoral votes wins so far democratic candidate joe biden has received 264 to republican president donald trump's 214 according to projections by the use of seated press a.p. has biden winning arizona but many other forecasts say it's too close to call. pennsylvania would be a massive prize with its 20 electoral votes joe biden's lead there is currently around $29000.00 with 99 percent of votes counted the mail and votes being counted
3:02 pm
have been heavily favoring the democratic candidate georgia with its 16 electoral votes is also extremely close biden has pulled ahead of trump here with a difference of just over $4000.00 votes a recount is expected overall donald trump's path to victory is looking increasingly narrow states in red or blue have been called by a.p. for trump or biden states in light of blue or in pink or red leaning toward biden or trump respectively any one of the remaining states will give joe biden the win president trump needs a combination of states. biden victory may look increasingly unlikely but there's little sign it will bring an end to the deep divisions made during the campaign backers of president trump or expressing doubts over the village of mainland ballots biden supporters meanwhile have been celebrating where they believe to be
3:03 pm
the end of the trump era. scenes of jubilation biden supporters in new york and other u.s. cities began dancing in the streets as election results on friday turned increasingly in favor of their candidate. but also in several cities. the scenes of frustration like here in arizona where trump supporters have gathered for days to protest after biden was declared the likely victor also scenes of faith albeit a deeply divided faith. showing many democrats believe in the u.s. election system while many republicans do not to come here to shut the way many to be. my delight in the freakin you know their unity. like when using the day to. leave. even or
3:04 pm
when. this is turning into a legal problem this is a fraud on the american public this isn't the president trump was making claims of illegality even before millions of ballots were counted and frankly there has yet to be any credible evidence of election fraud. over the course of friday votes for biden flipped the grand prize state of pennsylvania and trump lost his lead bringing supporters of both candidates out on the streets. it's a scam and see it's stay collusion all their state's democratic controlled states like michigan wisconsin pennsylvania they're all colluding with each other to create these fraudulent mail in ballot voting like i think there is so much attention on this election on the counting of the votes on looking out for fraud that you're going to find that it's prime or accurate in any election we've had so whether they get a recount or not i'm not concerned because i think you're going to get the same
3:05 pm
result truck just lost you know suppose that you know you didn't get the votes becomes down to a few 1000 votes here and there but no one has one person as to when one person has a lose and he lost in the stock or to come back. biden says he's confident he will win he's appealing for greater unity once the dust settles who want you know the work is hard for those who voted against me those who voted for me. that's the job that's the job it's called the duty of care for all americans we have serious problems to do covert economy to racial justice climate change. we don't have anymore time to waste partisan warfare. street demonstrations for the most part have been peaceful even when people with strongly opposing views they saw meanwhile the world is watching to see if that holds true once a final result is announced. for more on that i'm now joined in the studio by did

use chief international editor richard walker richard to trump supporters seem desperate have we heard any reaction from the trump campaign itself you know all the time campaign is sticking to its message that they want to challenge in the courts what has been going on in many of these states where they they claim that there are a irregularities but they haven't really saval produced any evidence to that extent i think is particularly interesting is look what they're communicating under the radar to trump's kind of most loyal supporters now since covering the last u.s. election in 2016 i've been on the mailing list for trump supporters in the u.s. so i received these e-mails that are going out to his bosses all over the country and overnight in european time from loss yesterday to today i counted in the space of 9 hours 14 e-mails coming through so essentially kind of spamming people at the
3:07 pm
moment with this kind of thing we've got a few examples here so here for example subject line we need to keep pushing a fair official election defense fund you know trying to raise money for these these legal challenges that they want to push up we bring up the next one here senda trump trump trump i mean there's no doubt about who this is coming from. let's keep going is the message this or no sense of kind of standing down if we bring up the next one. now. it's time to fight back now what are people spilling onto the streets when they're receiving this kind of e-mail from the campaign and a final one here to have a look at do you believe democrats are trying to steal the election yes or no like encouraging people to click through on that to kind of you know kind of whip people up into this mindset that there is that there are irregularities going on so from this kind of positioning it's a long step of we kind of think forwards who are at a point where victory may be out of trump's reach for sure how does he climb down
3:08 pm
from this is definitely a few steps from this to a possible concession clearly a dynamic situation can't see it it can't wait to see how this is all resolved and it's clear at this point that this election is going to be won or lost by a very small margin in a few states give us a sense of how close this election has actually been overall yeah i mean of course the reason we're still sitting here discussing this is that these states close and some of them could be down to you know a percentage point or less but if you look at the overall picture of the national popular vote there is definitely a bigger gaps or joe biden according to the latest numbers is more than $4000000.00 votes ahead and if that holds to the to the end of the count then that would be a difference of roughly 3 percentage points which is well short of the landslide that they were looking for but that's not a particularly close margin of victory got it richard walker chief international editor for did you have a really appreciate your time richard. germany has set

a new daily record with the number of new coronavirus cases exceeding 23000 for the 1st time 130 people have died over the last 24 hours these numbers come after the 1st weekend of germany's partial lockdown hundreds of people have gathered in the eastern german city of light sick to protest the new restrictions a court ruled that they could hold the demonstration in the city center provided the protesters observe strict security measures like wearing masks and keeping social distance. ease and leipsic for us. who are these protesters exactly. it's is a very mixed crowd you have to say the entire city of leipzig is full of demonstrates is today there are $27.00 demonstrations that have been registered all over the city and of course the biggest one is the one used by
3:10 pm
a movement that calls itself they are doing and they are against the coronavirus measures that are no bigger incidents the movement it's largely peaceful but of course there is big concern also by security people here that things could get a bit nasty considering that 2 months ago in berlin a similar demonstration attracted right wing groups and that led to a nice escalation of the situation you know compared to other european countries the lock down in germany was quite loose so what do the protesters protesters want to achieve exactly. well 1st of all you have to say that the demonstrates is. not wearing mosques i would say 95 percent of people are not wearing mosques they're against that that is one of the messages that we keep hearing from them they're also not adhering to the rules of keeping your distance but it's a mixture of people some say they want to discuss the details of the current virus

measures and others are saying that it is a lie that basically the german government is taking away their freedoms and also there are a couple of nazis already and that's what we're hearing. there in the streets of leipzig really appreciate your time nina. you may have heard about berlin's new airport it opened 9 years late in billions of euros over budget not only that but plenty of berliners were perfectly happy with the old airport table the terminals there were famous for super swift boarding and cold war architecture now it's closing and its original architects have visited to say goodbye. mine hard for an air con and full can mark have come to say good bye to their airport berlin take it before it closes down for good they wanted to take a walk down memory lane. here and this is where the wooden puzzle piece floorboards

were. they were very beautiful but an acoustic disaster because of the wire luggage carts suitcases with wheels came later back then those parts were allowed so we scrapped the original floorboards and replaced them. they designed every single detail in this terminal from the building's shape to the interior styling and even the indoor and outdoor signs take all airport wasn't just a run of the mill project for these famous german architects it was their 1st big commission after getting their college degrees in 1966 their design won the competition for the new airport in the divided city of berlin. at that point in time table was just an airfield it was originally a takeoff and landing runway used for air lift planes bringing goods to the landlocked city of west berlin after the 2nd world war then it was repurposed in 1974 the new airport opened over 2000 people came to the event their

entrance ticket was a pair of hexagon shaped glasses like these a little later the opening ceremony took place that was the west berlin mayor klaus should know about he was given to these glasses as a key. our 1st priority was to satisfy the customer's needs for the passengers to have short walking distances be able to orient themselves quickly and have only a short commute to the city but unfortunately. table became the prototype of the short distance airport after my eyes in the space between arrival and departure gates it was popular with berliners and tourists the airport was the point of arrival for prominent guests it was the stage where emotional moments took place like the return of the german soccer world champions in 2014 but the airport became out of touch with modern needs it was old fashioned and too small for a booming capital city after german reunification it was necessary to build

a new airport and close down tanker. yes this is up shoot now it's time to say goodbye really was not without a touch of melancholy. because this building documents a time on our job was all about serving people's needs a time when customer was king. on their final walkthrough table the architects had to get used to the empty walkways due to the coronavirus pandemic there has been little air traffic during the airport's last months but the 2 men get consolation from one decision that terminal a will remain standing as a monument to the designers and the people of berlin. you're watching. from berlin here's a reminder of our top story u.s. democratic presidential candidate joe biden says he's confident of victory as counting continues biden has knowledge the head of president trump in the key
