i'm melissa chan welcome to news asia we're glad you could join us indonesia received its 1st shipment of covert 1000 vaccines from china this week as the government prepares for a mass inoculation program the vaccine developed by sinopec biotech will be evaluated by the indonesian food and drug authority for emergency use indonesian clerics are also expected to issue a whole lot of occasion for the experimental drug president joko widodo says these are only the 1st steps and more doses are on the way. we are also still working to get 1800000 doses of vaccine to arrive in early january of 2021. apart from getting the finished version of scenes. we are also getting $15000000.00 doses of

raw vaccine within this month. and later 30000000 doses in january that will be processed by the state owned pharmaceutical company b o pharma. and indonesia isn't the only asian country looking at chinese vaccines rather than western options made by pfizer biotech where derna astra zeneca and others signed of that in china national biotech group recently announced approvals for late stage clinical tests in bangladesh and pakistan chinese companies have been mostly conducting tests overseas given so few covert cases in china itself for more we're joined by dr jerome kim director general of the international vaccine institute in seoul their partners include the world health organization and the gates foundation among others dr kim there's been so much news about the pfizer bio and tech vaccine and the astra zeneca one and then along comes this side of

that vaccine and i feel like we haven't heard that much about this one what do we know it's so we haven't heard in general about vaccines that are not you know western mainstream operation works but you know chinese vaccine developers including side of back side of farm and kansai know have vaccines that have advanced into advanced stage a street testing for safety and efficacy you know cited back as one of the companies if you look at its vaccine it generates what we call neutralizing antibody at a level lower than a seeing pressure seneca for instance or johnson and johnson. but it does generate the neutralizing antibody and it also has a study where there are vaccine protective monkeys against infection so you know from a hypothetical perspective you would say that this vaccine has a chance and it would be very interesting to see their data when they're announced i think it's supposed to be later this month. so their data has not been announced

physical well yeah. no of course i mean this is sort of the what girls have always done i mean years ago 2006 i think they opened the grammys it with a duet with madonna where madonna was live on stage and they were performing as holograms i mean so this is nothing super new for them i mean even look at like older videos they also like to combine this sort of combination of the real and then the virtual and. i mean it's interesting in some ways this is an art project i mean the whole idea was started as a comment a bit on the artificiality of pop music but what i find so interesting about gorillas is even though they are the world's most artificial band i mean they're literally created in a computer they have a huge dedication to live performance and always have them from the get go ok so these virtual performances may be they won't be sticking with virtual performances post pandemic no definitely not i mean all one has said very clearly if you want to get back on stage as soon as possible and they've already are poor planning to kick

off a world tour for this new album a song machine next summer you know safety permitting ok i want to switch gears for a 2nd let's talk about the coronavirus or rather not the coronavirus here in europe everything of course is shut down culturally for the most part ironically over in china where a year ago we heard about the 1st cases of the coronavirus they've got a big film festival up and running euro star film expert what's going on there scott yeah the festival is the international film festival happens every year is a big big event in the southeast china it's usually also a big sort of international event you have big hollywood stars to come johnny depp is gone that's mickelson has gone nicolas cage this year of course it's a bit different but it is happening it's taking place in person a physical event of course because of safety conditions is a bit different people have to wear face masks in the cinemas but there aren't the
